CHAPTER EIGHT

JARED

"They have been found sir" The guard reports and in an instant fury washes over me

"You fool" I said while grabbing his shirt and pinning him on to the nearest wall "how could you allow that, do you know the danger you have invoked upon my brother?!"

"It w-was n-not my fault sir" he stuttered "their energy signatures were not properly cloaked sire"

"then tell me" I say through gritted teeth "whose fault was it?"

He says nothing probably not wanting to fuel my anger more but he quakes under my grip, I let him go and cast him a stern look

"Tell me why I shouldn't incinerate you on the spot"

"B-because I have been loyal to you sir" he stuttered "and I'm the only one who would tell you where to find them"

" Well then" I said "tell me where they are"

"Just before their signatures vanished, they were headed for Fantasia" he said "and the king deduced that-"

"they were headed to Lord Horus'es home" I say finishing for him "Damn!, How could they be so stupid!"

I dismiss the guard and I'm left alone, Father was going too far, completely blinded by rage I stormed off towards the Royal Court,

"Father!" I yelled "you bastard, haven't you done enough already!"

The entire council gasps and a deathly silence ensues as they all await for my father to punish me, his eyes narrowed and his jaw ticked and he dismisses the entire court, leaving just is alone

"Have you forgotten your manners boy!" He barked " Or do I need to remind you your place here?!"

I fall into a humorless laugh, my laugh is the only thing that rings out in the court and soon I stop laughing and we descendants into silence again

"You're sick" I say "you know that right, that you are a psychopath, i warned you to stay away from my brother and his godly mate, but yet you are still hell bent on destroying them."

" So that's what this is all about" he says calmly " I merely want to start afresh, with my son by my side"

"You know I'd believe a total stranger over you" I replied swiftly " stay away father, I won't let you hurt him"

I begin to walk away but he calls out to me

"Do not try to leave son, I have stationed guards everywhere, you cannot leave without my permission, we can't have you warning your brother now, can we?"

I see his triumphant smirk, he thinks he has won, but he has another thing coming, one way or another I will warn my brother about him, I can't let him get hurt.

UNKNOWN

So they are in Fantasia eh, Master would be pleased with this information, I fly down from the tower as the shape shifting potion wears off, my tiny bird form is once again transformed to my lithe body, I look for a quiet spot and hastily contact my master, he is oddly quiet as I relay the events of my mission to him

"Fantasia eh" he rasps "He has gone to see his old friend Horus, hasn't he, don't move a muscle my minion they will come to us soon"

I give a vehement nod, thankful that I am not to do anything but lay in wait, but master must have sensed my relaxed mood, we were talking telepathically afterall, because he barked

"You still have lots to do" he said "work your way into the Castle, and lay in wait"

Our connection is instantly broken and I shuffle off with a new task at hand

TERRENCE

She was still asleep, refusing to wake up, I could still see the fear on written across her face as she had gazed upon my face, my heart was pricked with the absolute horror on her face, my own mate was absolutely terrified of me

I had not left her side all night and by noon Horus had come to join me

"She'll be fine" he said " she just needs time to adjust and it really doesn't help that you took her memories"

"Don't you think I know that" I said snapping "you think it's easy to see that she's scared of me, that she might possibly reject me!"

His hands wrap around me in a desperate attempt to comfort me

"Edna says you should come down and eat something" he says

"But what if she's finally wakes up and-"

"I'll be here" he says cutting me off "go on you'll need your strength soon"

After many more pleadings, I'm finally convinced to get something to eat, Edna is most happy to see me in her kitchen again and she spoils me with various delicacies but I am in mood to eat, and just as I placed the first forkful into my mouth, Jared's voice comes bursting through my mind

"He's coming" he practically screams in my head " he knows where you are hurry up and leave, he's almost there!!"

Instantly I'm up on my feet, halfway through the corridor, the neighing sound of the Ermlings reach us, we are surrounded from all sides, my father is here.

AURORA

Everywhere is grim, the sky has taken on an ashen grey, everywhere and everything is on fire, the people are all gone and the land is desolate, in the distance I spot a cloaked figure makes it way towards me

I am completely entranced as the figure stalks towards me, it came to me until it stood just an inch from my face, skeletal hands are revealed from the cloak which slowly caresses my face, strange whispers emanate from the figure, slowly growing louder until I could make out the word

"Daughter" it chanted continuously

"W-who w-who are you?" I stuttered

"You don't recognize me do you, this form is not my own" he whispers " but surely you recognize me even through cloaked memories" he says and puts his skeletal hand on my temple

I am instantly transported to a different time, I could hear the lullaby I sang to the little girl just before I passed out, and then the man's face comes into view as the memories hit me like an oncoming wave

"Father" I say my voice barely a whisper
