CHAPTER SEVEN

UNKNOWN

The chains moved through the air with a metallic zing, and landed on my back with a sharp sting, there was a resonating crack as my ribs snapped.

My scream came out as a high pitched squeal as I choked on my blood

"You haven't failed me for the last time" master rasps angrily "tell me why I shouldn't incinerate you where you stand"

"You need me" I rasped " all I ask for is one more chance to prove myself, you've lost her energy signature, without it you cannot ascent fully out of Olvork, free me, I will not disappoint again."

His brows knit in frustration, he was clearly at an impasse, he needed me and he knew, upon finally making his decision, his face took on a scowl

"You have played this card for the last time" he snarls "fail me again and I will not hesitate to destroy you"

The fetters and chains binding my hands and feet were loosed and I fell to the floor

"You won't have to" I snarl while staggering to get up "she will not escape my clutches again"

He curses and in a powerful thunderclap he disappears, leaving me alone, clutching four broken ribs, I swore to myself at that moment that I'd find her, and my Master would possess her for his owner

TERRENCE

I watched as she cried herself to sleep on my arms, and my heart broke a little more, I did not wish to involve her in this life, yet here she was crying herself to sleep in my arms

I untangled myself from her resting figure, as we reached the home of my right hand man Horus, I gave the door a slight rap, the door was opened and I was instantly attacked by two little rascals

"Hey leave your uncle alone" Horus says

"Not until he gives us our presents" little Denise says and bats her eyelashes

Horus must have seen the wary glazed look in my eyes, because he ordered his children inside in a stern voice

"We're kidnapping ladies now aren't we?" He says eyeing the sleeping Aurora "where did you get her from, and I hope you are not planning on using my house for your business, I've got kids now."

I scowl when he compares her to my other flings, Horus must have noticed the angry look etched across my face, because a tight smile stretches across his face

"It's her isn't it?" He says, his eyes twinkling "you've finally found her, this calls for celebration."

I shake my head vigorously, and it was his turn to look confused

" You can finally ascend the throne, you have fufilled all criteria, what do you mean you do not want to celebrate?!"

I sighed and launch into my tale, and it spins to it's climax, I feel the waves of anger rolling of him, and as I conclude my tale and he abruptly punches the door startling me

"Come in" he says through gritted teeth, ushering us in,quietly I laid Aurora on the bed,it was amazing that she had slept through the entire commotion,

"You must be tired" Horus says as he suddenly appears at the doorway "you are going to need your energy to protect her, when you arise we will discuss"

I nod and cast a him a glance of appreciation, wrapping myself comfortingly around her I drift off into a dreamless sleep

QALOS

As my tale of betrayal spun to an end, I could see the look of absolute disgust etched across his face and once I'd finished the story, he threw a rage fit.

"H-How could you" he stutters in anger "I can't stand you, he was your brother, your responsibility"

"I was young and misguided, I didn't know what to do, I was jealous"

"Jealous" he raved and pulled at his hair frantically "you are a sicko, you've almost wiped out a dynasty, you didn't even try to end this, you could have hurt your son seriously"

"You think I don't know that!" I said trying to rein in my vexation "you think that I don't leave with the sick feeling, I didn't know what to do, and I hold you to secrecy, this will not spread out, not until I figure out what to do?"

I see him shake in anger but he is sworn to secrecy to his king at all times, irritatedly he snaps his fingers and the people are returned to normal, the chains at my feet and hands vanishes and he casts me a cold glare

"I curse the day you became my father" he spat out

He walks off and all I could do was stare at his retreating figure, I had lost both sons today and it was all because of her, it was too much of a risk to have her around, I needed to wipe her off subtly.

AURORA

I woke up to the sound of soft snoring, huge arms draped over me, but the soft sound of crying came from the adjacent rooms, I pried myself free from the grasp of the oddly familiar man and took in my surroundings

The room was reasonably tiny, but very cozy, the air was a mixture of our musks, I looked around more trying to get my empty head some new information but the whimperings from the other room continued.

Tip toeing gently, I snuck out carefully, so as not to wake up the man, who had gently held me while I slept, I walked slowly through the short corridor until I came to the room, opening the door gently I found a little girl sniveling and clutching a doll

"What's the matter little one" I whispered to her " why do you cry, are you hurt?"

She shakes her head vigorously and in the tiniest voice she replies

"I'm scared of the dark" she says in between snivels "mommy and daddy won't let me sleep in their room, only Jo sleeps there now, I'm not allowed cos I'm a big girl but I don't wanna be big, I'm scared."

"Oh" I say simply "well I'll stay with you if you want, do you want to hear a lullaby."

She nods vigorously, a big smile stretching across her face and goes silent as I begin to hum, it's an oddly familiar tune I'd heard from somewhere but I can't place my finger on it, and soon she falls asleep nestling herself in my arms and soon I'm dozing off to sleep when the door abruptly opens up.

"What are you doing here?" the voice booms

The figure at the door is completely shrouded in the dark, the only thing that is visible are his eyes, cold orbs that stare at me, I have seen them before, and my mind pumps an emotion through me, it ran through me as the figure etched closer, my heart began to pump vigorously, I began to hyperventilate and with a shrill scream I embrace the oncoming darkness.
