Too Many Reasons, Just Do It!

Seeing that Xu An came to rescue, somehow irritated the girl.

"What are you doing?" The girl asked in a displeased manner.

"What I do doesn't have anything to do with you. Why do I, Xu An, have to follow your words?" Xu An said without batting an eye.

Not waiting for her response, "Come with me," Xu An said with a smile as he grabbed the boy's hand and went to the gate, cutting off the line.

Other guests were not happy with this but they didn't utter a sound, for the fact Xu An had a close relationship with the young master of the Xu Clan.

They were afraid of infuriating him.

He was immediately stopped by the guards and Xu An simply stood there with a smile.

When the girl heard Xu An's name, she furrowed her eyebrows but it lasted for a short moment.

"A guy who gets kicked out of the house as his little brother gets everything. Instead of trying to obtain what he had lost, he lived peacefully as a lowly carver."

"That's an interesting story, did you make it yourself?" Xu An responded in an uninterested manner.

He didn't bother to argue with her. It was pointless and only made him look like a fool.

The guards were in a dilemma seeing Xu An cut off the line. Should they tell him to go back and enter the line or not?

"Let him in, he's the young master's elder brother." One of the guards decided.

"But he's at the same time only an ordinary member of the clan," another man notified them.

Ordinary members couldn't attend a party of high society such as this. An exception for Xu An due to his status, Xu An could enter as long as he's in the line.

But they didn't expect Xu An to appear and attract everyone's attention. Should they tell Xu An to scam, that would be the same as humiliating him.

If Xu An told his little brother what had transpired today, losing their jobs wouldn't be the only thing they get. The worst-case scenario was losing their freedom!

"Hey! You're only an ordinary clan member! If not for your status as Xu Yang's elder brother, you wouldn't be here in the first place.

"You're just a shameless bastard that takes advantage of his little brother's status to do as you like!"

Everyone immediately turned their heads to her and glared at her. Their meanings were obvious, shut your damn mouth!

Though, the girl was infuriated. I'm only saying this for you guys yet you return it with this?! Unacceptable!

"What? Isn't what I said is something all of you want to utter? Instead of thanking me, all of you ungrateful people shot me with such gazes? How ridiculous!"

"Young miss! Please calm down! Do not say anything even further, please!" The butler hurriedly begged.

"Now you're the one who sided with him? Are you his butler, or mine?" She asked with a slightly high voice.

"No, I'm your butler but Young Miss! You have to listen to me.

"Many people know how ruthless the young master is when he hears someone insult his elder brother. There is a time when someone insults Xu An and his ending is terrible!

"You may know the young master is proficient in making schemes. After being schemed many times, that person lost everything he cared for, family, friends, and wife before killing himself.

"And all of that happened because of an insult! So please, Young Miss. For our family's safety and yours, don't say anything much further." After the long explanation the butler gave, he ended it with another beg.

The girl couldn't accept it but having no choice, she nodded in hesitation as she said, "fine, I'll shut my mouth."

Xu An listened attentively to the butler's explanation and was shocked. To think that his little brother would do something as cruel as that for his sake, he was touched and ashamed, also a bit terrified.

Killing the person's family, friends, and even wife, that's kinda too far, isn't it? It's not as though he killed me!

Xu An understood his little brother used that person as a warning for others so as to make others think twice before insulting him but if a lot of people were getting killed because of him.

He couldn't help but feel guilty!

I must talk to him to end a massacre! He made a mental note.

After the butler's explanation, the guards bowed politely with a smile and Xu An responded the same way.

Entering the vast lawn with a stone-paved path to the manor, Xu An walked calmly.

"Uncle Xu An, is this really okay? I'm only a commoner, I shouldn't be here."

"Then how do you end up in such a state?" Xu An asked.

"That's because I've heard someone with a high position from the Infantry attend the party and I went here to go meet him.

"But I couldn't find him and so I went home. That's when it happened, in my way, that lady suddenly kicked me for being a hindrance, for being a leecher." His voice grew dim and his eyes filled with sadness.

"Why do you want to meet someone from the Infantry?" Xu An wondered.

"That's because I've always admired the World's Empire! My Ma frequently said it, if not for them, we would never breathe in the fresh air of freedom ever again!

"She also said that I should do what I like but do no harm. That's why I want to take a look at a person that has the highest position in it!"

Xu An nodded and as he opened his mouth to say something, the boy quickly continued, "I want to join the Infantry as a way to repay my kindness for World's Empire but I don't know if I could do that."

As he kept on, his voice became disheartened.

"Why?"

"Because of my family coming from Teresreal, I often get mocked that my dream to become an Infantry soldier is something beyond my reach, they told me to become realistic, not to live in a beautiful dream.

"I can't retort either as what they said is true. My body is weak, I'm weak-minded and I'm poor.

"The test to become an Infantry soldier is strict and you have to pay a ridiculous amount. I don't know if I should continue this childish and unrealistic dream." His voice was low, containing sadness.

After a long round of silence, Xu An raised his right hand before slapping the boy's back as hard as he could.

"Aah!" The boy screamed in pain and tears involuntarily poured down.

"Why did you surrender before the battle even started? You miss 100% of the chances you don't take."

"You miss 100% of the chances you don't take?" The boy fell into deep thought.

"Don't quote me," Xu An calmly commented
