Not That Low

This is big news! Someone from the Last Epoch is still alive to this day! The intelligent man was surprised and delighted when hearing it. He was a big fan of the Last Epoch. If he could meet that person, he would ask a lot of questions and his curiosity would probably meet its demand already!

Set aside his personal need for a short moment, he averted his line of sight to one of his men.

"Go and tell 'him' what we've learned," ordered the man through qi telepathy.

The man with a small nose nodded as he understood without asking anything. He picked up his pace as he slowly distanced himself from the hut.

"Alright everybody, it's time," said the man. Everyone hurriedly prepared themselves by unsheathing their weapons and raising their guard.

One of them kicked the door as hard as possible and it was tossed across the room.

Boom!

Xu An was about to say anything but then, his dangerous senses were tingling. He turned his head around and saw a door flying towards him.

As behind him was the desk where the flower was, he hurriedly grabbed the pot and dodged to the side as he lunged himself.

Bam!

The door crashed into the desk and was stopped as it hit the wall. Dust filled the air. Xu An coughed a few times as his ears were buzzing and his head was a bit dizzy.

Sounds of approaching footsteps could be heard to his left. Xu An knew this was an ambush but who did it? It did not matter nevertheless. Well for the moment.

Xu An shook his head so as to shake off the dizziness and raised from the ground so as to fight the b*stard who dare to destroy his f*cking house!

He built it with great difficulty yet it got destroyed easily. Unforgivable!

After he got to his foot, Xu An unsheathed his old blade and was about to start a killing spree but realized something was odd.

As the dust slowly scattered, Xu An depicted some silhouettes. He raised his guard to its limit and prepared for an attack yet nothing was coming.

Upon closer look, Xu An realized these figures were not moving. He reflexively frowned.

"What's going on?" He pondered as he looked around. That was when he realized Heileen was nowhere to be found.

"Heileen?" He called her out but no response.

A split second after that, Xu An heard cries of pain from the outside and screamed for forgiveness. Not long after, the dust had finally dispersed and that's when Xu An saw something chill his bones.

Four humans were frozen in quite thick ice. Their expressions were fear and shock. They looked like ice sculptures.

Xu An took a step forward as he wanted to observe them but accidentally kicked something. It was the head of the pterodactyl figurine.

It rolled on the floor for a few seconds before hitting one of the ice sculptures. The latter move backward by a bit.

At first, it did not seem to fall but gradually, it fell to the floor and turned into billions of fragments.

Xu An did not expect a small object was enough to make them fall but think again, it made sense. The person's position when got frozen made him fall easily.

Ignoring that for a second, there was something important. Xu An saw the guy who almost caught him back in the forest.

Xu An then smiled, a mocking one to be precise.

"Looks like my luck is so great that it affects other people. Oh wait, in your case it's bad. That's unfortunate.

"So who's luck is running out now?" Narukami sneered as his eyes were a few centimeters away from the intelligent man.

Quickly afterward, the ice seemed to sway to the left and right yet the ice was still in one piece, with no signs of cracking or the person about to break out.

The edge of Xu An's lips curved up as he smirked. He purposely lifted his head so he could look down on him.

"Pathetic," said Xu An as he insulted him. The ice swayed even greatly but Xu An still had his expression calm.

"If you keep that up, you're going to fall. Do you want me to help you?" Xu An asked as he moved closer. The ice instantly stopped moving.

One forgot to point out, the man was on his two feet and his face was looking at the bed when he got frozen. His expression was that of confusion.

"We'll talk again, no worries. We have plenty of time," teased Xu An as he winked as though a beautiful lady had just flirted with a man.

Xu An left the building and what was coming into his vision was shocking. He almost forgot to breathe.

Ice sculptures made out of real human beings were as far as the eyes could see. It was as amazing as disturbing.

Especially so with their expressions.

One thing for sure, it would not be suitable to be put in theme parks. Kids might have trouble falling asleep or even having a trauma.

Stopping his mind from wandering, Xu An surveyed from right to left yet he did not find the person he was looking for.

Just as he was about to go and look for her.

"Master, I've dealt with the enemies." Her voice was coming from above. Just as Xu An was about to lift his head. Heileen landed on the ground with her beautiful, blue butterfly wings.

As she landed, it formed web-like cracks as the ground slightly trembled and particles of soil hit Xu An. The dust raised to the air. Xu An instantly closed his eyes, for he was afraid some got in.

In the next moment, the dust scattered as the breeze of the wind passed. Xu An's hair gently fluttered under the dim moonlight.

As he was aware it was time to open his eyes already, he did so and saw Heileen close her wings.

It shrunk as it went into her back. Xu An had no idea the science behind that so he chose to ignore it.

"Good work," said Xu An as he gave Heileen a thumbs up. He was not stingy to praise.

Heileen smiled brightly; it was more beautiful than any moonlight Xu An had ever seen.

"So what are you going to do with these people?" Xu An pondered. Having a lot of people in front of his yard, furthermore, they were frozen to death, literally. Was a big no.

"I have no idea. My main objection is to prevent any of them from escaping. They've heard what we are talking about, after all."

"You did not notice them?" Xu An pondered. She had an amazing nose yet how could she not notice someone eavesdropping?

As if hearing his thoughts, Heileen said, "although I have a sharp nose. That does not mean I'm all-powerful. These people use some kind of concealing technique or perhaps an item.

"When I realized they broke the door. I immediately act on instinct."

"I see." Xu An nodded as he understood. He could not blame all of this on her alone, he should also blame himself for being weak.

Was he ashamed of being weak? No, why would he? He had someone powerful by his side. He was in no hurry to be powerful or what would happen if not for Chin Sha.

He wanted to relax and immersed himself in this new world aside from becoming stronger. He had done it already in his previous world and no word could describe it better than 'boring'.

"We should toss them into the river. The Infantry soldiers won't be able to find them that way," suggested Xu An. He had no sympathy for enemies.

"That's…" Heileen hesitated.

"What's wrong?" Xu An asked as he shifted his line of sight to her. Heileen did not respond, however.

But Xu An precisely knew why.

"You don't want to do it?"

Heileen weakly nodded.

"What's the reason?" Xu An pondered.

"I don't like how they end."

If they were tossed into the river. Their bodies would turn to thousands of ice fragments very instantly as soon as they hit the river's surface, leading them to have no remains in the world.

They were no different than being turned to dust by that bald, purple big guy with a gauntlet.

Xu An knew how fragile the ice was and was the one who turned these guys into one. Heileen knew it better than anyone else.

Following this line of thought, Xu An abruptly had thought inside his mind.

"You don't want them to die without leaving nothing?" Xu An speculated and Heileen nodded. His words were right on the spot.

Xu An subconsciously frowned.

"... I'm sorry," apologized Heileen after she saw Xu An was frowning. At the same time, she was sorry for showing her weak spot.
