This Is More About You Than You Think

I walked inside of Damon's office. He was staring out of the window and turned around to face me. His eyes looked me up and down and he seemed to pick up instantly that I was pissed off. We were supposed to be working together. If Justin was here I should have been as well. I deserved to know this information just as much as they did.

"Love-" He began but I cut him off.

"Don't you Love me!" My irritation was clear in my voice. "I heard Justin was here. Damon, you promised me!"

"I know. I can explain." His tone and face were serious.

"There had better be a damn good explanation!" My face was as cold as my tone. I wasn't going to go easy on him.

"Sit." He motioned to one of the chairs. "Please."

I didn't say anything as I took a seat across from his chair. Usually I would pull one around to look over things beside him. Not this time. I was staying over here to get my point across to him.

He sat down and his eyes met mine. "I did meet with Justin. He brought me the confirmation I needed and then some."

"Well I'm glad that you and your new best friend can discuss something that affected you and I." I made sure he could sense the sarcasm in my tone.

"Kaydence." His voice held a warning tone. "Stop it."

"Or what? You'll keep me in the dark?" I scoffed. "You've already done that."

"Damn it Kaydence!" I could tell he was now becoming the irritated one. "It's not like that. The information Justin brought he felt was better coming from me. And after looking at it all I can't help but agree with him this time."

"Why?" I asked flatly.

"Because this is more about you than you think. This entire fucking thing has all been about you." His eyes were intense as he spoke.

I could feel myself grow slightly uneasy. "What do you mean?" I questioned.

He thought for a moment, I could tell he was trying to figure out the best way to put it. "Kaydence, my shooter is your cousin. Zachariah Bushemp, he's Alastair's son. Meredith gave him the task after I had all the information about their activities released."

"So it's all been Meredith then?" I asked as I took in the information he had given me. I had thought about her being a suspect but he was so sure she wouldn't act on her threats that she made the last time we saw her.

He looked down at a file on the desk and then looked back up at me. I could see there was more to this. More that he was clearly not wanting to talk about, but something told me he had to anyway. He was hesitant, which was unlike him.

"There's more. Once Justin had his identity confirmed he stumbled upon some information." Damon explained as his hand held the file on his desk shut.

"More like what?" I could feel in my gut that this had something to do with me. Especially since Meredith was involved.

Damon let out a sigh and opened the file. He then proceeded to explain in depth what all these papers were and what they meant. I could see the sorrow in his eyes as he had to be the one to tell me Meredith killed her own son and tried to kill my mother. That she had kept me from being accepted into top schools and interfering with my life as much as she could. She was part of the reason I couldn't seem to get a real job and had to turn to selling myself. All for fucking money she seemed to thing she was entitled to.

My blood was practically boiling after learning the entire truth. I clenched my fist tightly as the anger within me was now directed at this so-called family of my father's. I understood why this had to come from Damon. Justin probably wanted him to be prepared and know exactly what emotions he might be releasing with this information.

I was pissed and upset. Instead of being a good mother she had to resort to this. And even after losing everything she still had to try to take away the most important man in my life. She was a fucking bitch, but I could be just as much of one back.

Damon studied me and I could tell he was slightly confused. I was calmer than he expected. On the outside anyway. On the inside a storm was brewing within me. No, it was more of a fucking hurricane at this point.

I pulled my phone out and dialed the number I had for Meredith. I waited patiently for the phone to be answered. Finally the old hag picked up. "Hello?" She spoke.

"Meredith, it's me." Damon's brows raised with curiosity as I spoke to her. "You were right, about everything. All Damon wants to do is control me. Does your offer to come to Dallas still stand?"

"Oh, of course!" I could hear in her voice that she was thrilled.

"Can you and Alastair maybe come and help me get moved. I have a daughter now so I really don't want to travel by myself." My eyes stayed on Damon's as I spoke into the phone.

"Yes, of course! But what about Damon?" I could hear in her voice she was a little apprehensive of coming to Nashville.

"He leaves in two days for a business trip. Can you come Friday while he's gone?" I asked. "I really don't want to leave while he's home."

"Yes, we'll be there Friday morning. Kaydence, this will be so good for our family!" She was thrilled, it was disgusting.

"Yeah. It will." I agreed.

"Kaydence, I sent your cousin Zachariah down there to check in on you. Did you run into him?" She asked curiously.

"Yes. I did." I responded. "Grandma I have to go, I'll see you in a few days."

"See you soon." She spoke before hanging up.

A malicious and dark smirk crossed Damon's lips. He proceeded to clap his hands together to applaud me. "What a great performance there Love."

My anger and rage had completely been the fuel for my actions. I wanted revenge for my family and myself. This bitch wasn't going to get away with anything. She had fooled people for too long. It was time the three remaining Bushemps got a dose of karma.

I leaned in to close the gap between us. My tone was dark as I spoke. "I want in on your punishment. I need to be a part of this Damon. I need to make them pay for every little thing they've done."

"Are you sure?" Damon raised a brow. "It could get messy."

"Positive." I was confident in my answer. "The darker the punishment, the better. So tell me, what do you have in mind?"
