Chapter 7: Class

"I'm sorry, what?" Mr. Bai asked in disbelief, "You think that the Demon King's so called heir is one of the students?"

Mr. Li didn't say anything and just kept quiet. Even the other teachers were lost in thought.

"It could be possible actually," Headmaster Shen said, pondering in thought.

"You can't be serious?" Mr. Bai asked in complete disbelief.

"Why not consider that possibility?" Mrs. Liu asked, "A third of the school is now filled with demon students, majority of them has a shocking amount of spiritual energy and don't forget half of them still hold a grudge against the Heavenly Realm for taking over their Realm."

"Yeah, but they are still kids!" Mr. Bai desperately tried to look for any excuse he could find.

"I think it would be smarter if we tried to consider every single possibility there was. We can't afford to take any risks, and we especially can't let our personal feelings get in the way," Headmaster Shen said while sending a look towards Mr. Bai.

Before Mr. Bai could try and protest any further, the bell started to ring outside.

"We can continue this discussion at the next meeting. For now let's just keep an eye on all the students," Headmaster Shen said as they started walking towards the door.

Wei Jinhai, Qi Chaoxing and Mo Dingbang quickly ran around the corner once they heard the footsteps coming closer.

Once they were a hundred percent sure the teachers were gone, they came out of their hiding spot and stared at each other wide-eyed. They were shocked by what they heard. The Demon King had an heir? Since when? Is his heir really at the school? Why is he or she doing this? For revenge? All these questions started to flood their minds.

They decided to walk back to the dorms. They walked in silence, lost in their thoughts. As they were walking, they heard a bunch of noise coming from outside. Wei Jinhai took a quick peek outside to see what the fuss was about.

"Look! Mr. Zhang is back!" Wei Jinhai called out to Mo Dingbang and Qi Chaoxing as he saw the familiar long, black haired teacher in the distance.

"Really?" Qi Chaoxing said as she and Mo Dingbang also went outside to take a look.

Wei Jinhai was right. Outside, walking towards the school building, was the Demon Department teacher, Mr. Zhang. He had two dark, thick bands around both his wrists.

A lot of the demon students were circling around Mr. Zhang, asking him a whole bunch of questions at once.

"What happened to your wrists?" one student asked.

"Did the Heavenly Officials do that?" another student asked.

"Is it permanent?"

"Are you still going to be teaching us?"

"Have they found out who set the school on fire yet?"

"Are they going to investigate the school?"

"Are they going to ban the demons from the Academy again?"

"They can't do that right?"

Mr. Zhang started to rub his temples, "Can't you all talk one at a time? I'll answer all of your questions once we're in class."

"Yes! So that means you'll still be teaching us right?" one student asked.

"Yes, I'll still be teaching you this year and what did I say about the questions?" Mr. Zhang said while scrunching up his face as he continued to rub his temples.

Mr. Zhang continued to walk towards his classroom, most of the students already rushed off to their next class.

"So I'm guessing we have class today?" Wei Jinhai asked the other two.

Mo Dingbang shrugged his shoulders, "I guess so."

The three of them started to make their way to the Demon Department classroom. When they got there, they saw a whole bunch of students already inside. They walked in and sat in the three seats at the back of the class.

Once all of the students arrived, Mr. Zhang cleared his throat and said, "Alright everyone, you already had a couple of days rest, so now I expect you to be at your best. I know most of you have questions to ask, so during this lesson, I will just be explaining and answering those questions."

One student put up their hand, "What are those bands on your wrists?"

Everyone else was also curious to know what those black, shackle looking bands were for.

"The Heavenly Officials said that I may be allowed to continue teaching here, but in order to make sure I truly have no ill intentions, I have to wear these to limit my spiritual powers. They will also be able to monitor what I use my spiritual powers for," Mr. Zhang answered.

Everyone was shocked by this. "Is it permanent?" another student asked.

"No, it's just temporary. They will remove them once they are no longer suspicious of me," Mr. Zhang explained.

The class eased down a bit, but still couldn't believe it. To think that the Heavenly Officials went that far and actually restricted his spiritual powers was truly unvelievable.

Spiritual energy was a big deal for everyone. The more you had, the stronger you were. The stronger you were, the more power you would be able to achieve one day. If one had weak spiritual energy, they would be disregarded and pushed aside.

"Are the Heavenly Officials going to search the school?" one student asked.

"No, the Heavenly Officials still don't believe that it was the real Hellfire Phoenix we saw. They think one of the students used a crafty trick as a prank," Mr. Zhang answered.

Qi Chaoxing jumped up from her seat and yelled, "That's crazy! Who would be that bored and stupid to do something like that? Unless that person has a death wish or something!"

"Miss Qi, please contain your emotions and stop yelling in my class," Mr. Zhang rubbed his temples again.

Qi Chaoxing did as she was told and sat back down. "You're not completely wrong though," Mr. Zhang continued, "It definitely can't be just a little childish prank. We're not sure if it is the Hellfire Phoenix for sure, but it definitely is something similar to it."

"Is it true that only the Demon King can control the Hellfire Phoenix?" another student asked.

Mr. Zhang thought for a bit before answering the question, "Not necessarily. It just has to be the blood of the Demon King. For instance, his sister could control it, or even his nephew, maybe even his heir if he had one. It doesn't have to be the Demon King himself, anyone of the Demon Realm's Royal Family could control the Hellfire Phoenix. The Hellfire Phoenix is meant to be the symbol of the Royal Family."

"So technically the bird that burned down the dorms could actually be the Hellfire Phoenix?" the student sitting next to Wei Jinhai asked.

"There is a very big possibility that it could be," Mr. Zhang answered.

Most of the students had scared looks on their faces. Even though he was their King, it didn't mean that they weren't afraid of him. There were lots of horrible rumours about how terrifying and gruesome the Demon King was. Nobody could confirm the rumours though. The people never really met the Demon King themselves.

"So if someone here was able to control the Hellfire Phoenix, then that basically means that the Demon King's relative is here in the school with us," a student said.

The whole class' faces paled and everyone went silent.

Next moment laughter filled the room. Everyone turned their heads to the back of the class to see who the maniac was that was laughing.

"HAHAHA, sorry. I just find it so funny that instead of praising whoever did it, we are instead scared of them," the student with bright, flaming orange hair and amber eyes said while continuing to laugh, "If I knew who it was, I would probably send them flowers."

"Do you seriously think that person did good?" Qi Chaoxing asked in disbelief.

"Yes, in fact I do," the orange haired kid said while crossing his arms.

"Huh, you have questionable morals then," Qi Chaoxing retorted back.

The orange haired kid snorted back, "You are the ones with questionable morals. I can't believe you are all fine with being under the Heavenly Realm's control. The Demon Realm is supposed to belong to us, not them. I for one, strongly agree with that person, it's about time we take back the Demon Realm for ourselves."
