No matter how cliche it was, in every book that represents a bad and cold man, it was always the same. The black hair, the dark but firm black eyes, a 6'3 built body, an adorable smile that was reserved for himself and himself alone, and the cold and demanding voice that sent shivers down everyone's voice when heard...
That's how it was always described, and that's precisely how Kai Yang is as well. Setting his eyes on becoming the next head alpha of the country without any trouble is his only goal.
Giving up on finding a mate just three years after he turned 16, the age when a wolf matures and can find their mate, he had sworn to himself that he would focus on becoming the next head alpha alone and without a mate.
He would dismiss or shun any talk about finding a mate in his school years and when it was his 21st birthday, he drank the night away with one thought swarming his head.
'Maybe I was born without a mate.'
Despite the constant degrading from himself, he always stood tall and firm and now, there he was, standing in front of the many ministers that bowed to him and his father.
He stood next to the current Head Alpha, his father, and carefully listened to the ministers that were whining and complaining about the state problems
"There are too many mateless wolves out there!" one of the oldest ministers barked out, causing silence to fall over the courtroom and glances being stolen from the young Alpha.
Kai growled and stared right at the white-haired man, "Is there something wrong with being mateless, Minister Bang?" Kai challenged.
The alpha minister weakly snarled back and stared at the future head alpha with the same intensity before replying.
"If there are more and more mateless wolves, we would have more young lads dying." The minister disclosed, "our wolves weaken year by year if they are not with their mates hence, they end up-"
Kai slammed his fist on the table in front of him, shutting the minister up while he loudly growled as his eyes started turning a bright red colour, making every delta and beta in the room bow their head in submission.
But the minister did not give up on his fight he stared at the raging alpha and glanced to the male sitting on the high chair with his hand crossed over each other as he intensely listened.
"Head Alpha," the minister called out making the said male look at him with an amused look while he leaned back in his chair before waving his hand in front as a gesture of continue.
The minister audibly swallowed his spit before using every drop of confidence in him to say the next words that were gonna come out of his mouth.
"I have a proposition to make," He blurted out making some of the ministers gasp and the head alpha raise an eyebrow while his son just stared between the two males.
The head Alpha chuckled at the male's bravery before smiling and nodding his head.
"Well," he rasped out before clearing his throat, "let's hear your proposition then."
the minister placed a tight-lipped smile on and began explaining his idea, "At every December full moon, we can host a mate gathering for every wolf teen that came of age this year," he animately explained, gathering the attention of every minister as he spoke, "this way even the ones who couldn't mate the previous year can come and see if they found their mates this year instead."
The head alpha smirked and slowly nodded his head in thinking as he glanced around the room, seeing the other ministers muttering or whispering to each other in agreement before he looked back at Minister Bang.
the male sighed and glanced right, seeing his son fuming with anger as his hands clutched the wooden table in front of them.
"Let's see what my son thinks of this," the head alpha smirked out, irritating Kai even more as the young alpha closed his eyes slowly, only to snap them open when his father spoke again, "After all, he might find a mate through this idea as well."
'So this is what he was trying to do?' Kai thought as he glared at his father from the corner of his eye.
He sighed with his eyes closed and got up from his seat as he cleared his throat and placed his hands on his back.
He stayed quiet for a long time as he stared down all of the ministers, staring longer at a particular one before huffing in annoyance and standing even more straight.
"Fine," Kai sighed out, "We'll hold a ball on new years eve and see how it goes and then-"
But before he could even finish his sentence, the court had ruptured into cheers and Jeongguk pursed his lips to stop a smile from peeking out.
He was amused by the ministers' reaction and turned to look at his father's reaction and let out a breath of relief when he saw his old man nodding with a small smile on his face.
After the court meeting was over, Kai immediately dashed to his bedroom, slamming the door open in the process, only to slam it close and lock it loudly before speed walking to his balcony.
He glanced back to his bedroom door and poked his cheek with his tongue before closing his eyes and focusing on shifting.
He imagined a pitch-black room, a red light catching his eyes as he walked the black space, his hands reaching for the mysterious light.
He smiled as he touched the light, still not getting used to the experience as he winced when he felt the warmth of the light engulfing him, the light blinding his eyes as his bones slowly but painfully changed.
To anyone who would be standing nearby, they would see the young alpha's nose start to grow and change into a black snot, followed by pitch-black fur starting to grow out, the loud cracking of bones being heard as the ravenette's bones began to deform.
He hunched over as his arms flayed around, the length of his legs and arms shortening with every centimetre he was closer to the floor.
Just as his hands, now paws, touched the floor. He had finally shifted to his wolf form, letting puffs of breaths out as his red eyes scanned the forest from his balcony and snorted when he saw a small rabbit hopping around aimlessly.
He slowly backed up only to run forward and leap off the balcony. Gravity pulling him downwards as the force made air run through his black fur.
A thud sound was heard as his legs touched the ground. The wolf softly howling as he stood on his hinds and flayed his forelegs up and down together.
'Arriage.' Kai warned his wolf when the animal began to run around in circles, unable to keep his excitement.
The wolf stilled at the voice in his head, staring mindlessly at the woods in front of him.
'What?' the wolf snapped back in his head.
'Control yourself,' the human chuckled out, knowing that his wolf was relieved to be out, 'I know you're excited but we don't wanna look crazy.'
The wolf stifled the growl rising in his throat and ignored his human before trotting deeper into the woods, letting go of all his worries and stress the moment he was surrounded by trees and trees alone.
He started pacing towards different trees and looked at both the front and back of the trunk, looking for any moss growing on the plant.
His tail started wagging rapidly when he spotted the flower and rootless plant on the back of the trunk.
He panted with his tongue out before going back to prancing towards where the moss was facing
Throughout his little journey, Arriage kept on glancing at the trees and checking to make sure he was going the same way and it was not long before he heard the white noise of a waterfall.
He started cantering towards the calming noise and howled loudly when he saw his hiding spot, his haven.
Kai chuckled causing Arriage to huff at the human's reaction but quickly forgot it when he saw the small cave entry that only he knew about it.
But just to his luck, he walked towards the entry only to stop when he smelled something rotten from behind and frowned he when heard not one but two heartbeats instead.
Adrenaline rushing throughout his veins from having a good fight or kill, he turned around and snarled when he realized that they were no alphas, but rogues instead.
The young alpha growled at the two pack-less wolves and snarled at them as he saw one of them dare to take a step.
Just as he was about to attack the rogues, he heard more footsteps, and it was then he realized that it wasn't the three of them alone in that forest.
