A LITTLE BIT OF KAZ

~KAZ P.O.V~

(1:35am)

"Welcome Back Sir," I came out of the car with a meaningful smile on my face when being greeted by some of my workers at the entrance gate. I nod walking towards the house exhausted from having to be preparing for the blood drive and other important stuff.

Although for me, it is not easy being a ruler and on top of that a royal commander for two different places, but it would have to work out if I want to keep my friend in line for the time being.

Kaz Phoenix is the name, ruler of Crystal Cove which is the second-largest home to vampires that suppress different levels of stability in their powers. Our place is located on the southern side of the border and Royal Woods is on the northern side near the forest which is surrounded by a few special types of metal wires that would kill any human who is trespassing on both our territories. Well, that was long ago, we don't use those wires anymore.

Living in Crystal Cove, it's set up just like a regular community but with a higher budget considering this place has been around for years. Here you find libraries, hospitals, schools for the younger ones, parks and other stuff so we can be a custom to the modern world.

Although we do leave from time to time, to move around the humans, even engaging in conversations, working among them without giving away who we actually are.

Yes, people do know we exist, the craziest thing I've seen so far are humans seeing a message to us asking if werewolves, witches, or fairy exist. Weird but no, those are just made-up myths.

For me specifically, it's funny how both our territories are near each other just by a border yet really far away. It would take one to two days just to get on the other side by driving but with having special powers and swift movements, it would roughly take six hours.

"It's nice to be back," I stretch a little looking around at the place filled with people, also being pleased with myself for doing a good job at the ruling. Trust me when I say it's easy ruling over 'two million' vampires when you have a long line of experience and a lot of patience and most importantly dominance and respect.

"I figured there would be paperwork that needs attention, didn't it?" I asked my secretary to stop by at the front desk.

"You were gone for a long time, sir, so your mate came to collect some stuff and proceed to do them instead." She finished looking at the schedule I had for this week.

"My mate? She didn't leave any messages?" I question looking upset she didn't stay longer but I understand she still had that important role to fulfill.

"Ah! Yes," She was a bit hesitant to read the message but decided to go on anyway knowing I won't yell.

"Don't ever let me come back home to see a tower of paperwork on your desk or I'm gonna kill your lazy ass!" Jane finished trying to stop herself from laughing.

Chuckling to myself also I'm crying inside "Thanks Jane," I continue on to my office which was on the top floor, that's off-limits but only if I allowed it. Passing by the kitchen I stop in my tracks to look at some of the maids cleaning up with a small smile knowing they're in good health.

"Kaz I thought you were never coming back!" I turn around with a huge smile wrapping my arms around the one person that was and still is a mother to me.

"Missed you too Roseann," I laughed while staring at her. She didn't age a bit... literally.

This one-of-a-kind lady has been working here since I was just a kid but when both my parents died for some unknown reason she took the role of beginning not only as my mother but as a friend. Teaches me all I need to know, she grew me into what I am today. I couldn't feel any prouder for not failing on her throughout her hard work.

Looking at her, now I know she is more than concerned about the situation, that's the main reason why I'm moving back and forth from my duties here and over at Royal Woods.

"Look Vincent is going to be fine, he is stubborn but he's fine," I told her looking at her dark forest green eyes that slowly changed to a lighter version.

"I'm really worried for Vin, that boy has gone through so much pain even when he has this huge amount of responsibility for his people. He doesn't let it get to him, he deserves his peace and also for you." She slaps me on my shoulder

"Your mate was home and wasn't pleased with what she saw," Roseann told me laughing along with the other maids who know that my mate's temper is something I can't mess with.

Scratching the back of my neck nervously I didn't say anything and went upstairs to relax my tired body. Closing the door behind me my expression fell to a frown, the blood drive is a couple of months away and my mate won't be here and that's going to be a challenge trying to control the beast within me.

Of all the days.

Running my hands through my brown chestnut hair I let out a heavy sigh, looking towards the clock it was nearly two in the morning, the time when the vamps can roam freely in the woods when it's dark without worrying.

"Sure hope this time around everything runs smoothly or else I would have to go hunting," I thought looking out at the full moon.

Animal blood is fine but I prefer the other kind.

~VINCENT P.O.V~

Watching over her while she's sleeping peacefully is the most beautiful thing I've witnessed to this day, the moonlight shining across the darkroom and upon her makes her body glisten with beauty. My love is finally with me and I'm not letting that incident that separates us for too long causing me pain and sorrow, ever occur again.

That was a mistake, I wasn't aware of but now.... my hands tightened into a fist at the thought but I quickly relaxed. Don't want to lose control.

Opening the window without making any noise, I jumped through then landed on the cold balcony. Honestly, it's a habit I usually had when I was a kid, always on the balcony when it's midnight with my siblings looking at the stars even making a wish at any shooting star that would fly by.

Even if their wish was silly it was still precious to us.

"Those times are just a speck of a memory I wish I had back," I mutter followed by a stressful sigh. A lot of this has happened, I even have to make a written statement then send it to my sister for her to read, involving an incident that happens when some rebel teens seek in through a passage when I was away with Kaz on some important busy day.

They're lucky I wasn't there to set an example out of them but the parents of the young ones handle the situation.

"Vincent?" My eyes swiftly looked at the sleeping beauty who was rubbing her eyes sleepily as she stumbled for a bit trying to climb through. Carefully I lead her on the balcony and wrap my arms around her keeping her warm from the icy night.

"Can't sleep?" I kissed her forehead watching as her cheeks changed to a light pink blush due to the cold.

"Your scent was fading," She corrected me while snuggling close to drifting back to sleep. This might be a sign, that her memories are slowly but surely coming back.
