Young Lady

Melissa’s wedding finally ended. Vale sighed in relief as she stands up excitedly. She couldn’t wait to go back! The other guests stand up as well, and murmurs fill the place.

Why couldn’t the wedding be as simple as pronouncing the man and women, husband and wife? Maybe then all of the guests could save their energy and time on other things.

She doesn’t understand why, and she doesn’t want to know. She turns around and walks towards the direction of the entrance door. She inhales the fresh air and exhales with a smile on her face. Nope. That didn’t happen as she imagined. Her step halted at the sound of her mother’s voice in gritted teeth.

“Young lady, where do you think you are going?”

She closed her eyes and bit her lip before slowly turning around. “Nowhere. At all,” She smiles, fakely sweet towards the peoples around the table.
