I rushed through the corridor, the sound of my shoes echoing and bouncing off the walls. Removing my wig and the pins keeping it in place, I toss it to the family butler as he walks behind me with the same urgency in his stride. I stop just in front of a set of big wooden doors that shut my father's study to the rest of the house. With a loud knock and a faint "come in", I throw the doors open and march in. My father was sitting quietly behind his desk. I caught a look in his eyes filled with shock and surprise for a split second before he expertly masked it with his usual blank stare.

No matter how anti-social I am, I would prefer any form of conversation right now than standing in the center of the King’s office being scolded by my father. Apparently, me having an anxiety attack and walking away from dinner to collect myself was embarrassing to the family and disgraceful to our hosts. If I open my mouth to defend myself, my father’s little tirade in front of the royal family will go on much longer.
