Creeeaaaaak!!! The heavy door to the roof slowly opened as Jin stepped through it. He walked over to the railing on the edge of the roof, dropped his bag, put his elbows on it and stared at what was before him. Below the teachers, administrators and students ran around like ants while on the horizon the usual burnt orange, Texas sunset was replaced with a grey cover of clouds.
Creeeaaaaak!!! The door opened once again. Jin turned around to face Chandler who was standing in the same spot as she had been that past Friday.
"Yo!" Jin said with an awkward wave.
"Hi..." She replied quietly.
Jin saw that she was standing a bit straighter today, her feet were crossed and her hands hidden behind her back but not playing with one another.
"So… what's your answer?" Jin finally asked.
He saw that there was a brief flash of amusement in her eyes that disappeared as soon as it appeared. There was no sign of nervousness, or shyness, or uneasiness. She had come to a decision, and he had a good idea what it was.
"No!" She said confidently, lifting her head up a bit higher.
Jin took a deep breath, even though he knew it was coming it was still hard to hear. "I see, so… what's the move now?" Jin asked as he leaned backwards against the railing, and looked up into the sky.
"The move?" She asked, looking confused.
"Yeah… Do we pretend this never happened? Do I have to act all weird around you now that you know I like you…?" Jin said calmly, looking back at her.
"Nope, none of the above!" She said with a dangerous look in her eyes.
She increased the distance between her feet and placed her hands on her hips."You're going to help me get into a relationship with my crush!!" She pointed at him with a smug look.
Jin sighed. "Figures…" Jin letting the remaining air in his lungs finish the word. He was expecting this is why she came here today.
"Who is it?" He asked.
"GREY!!" She said excitedly.
"You're on your own." Jin replied coldly as he reached down to pick up his bag.
"OI WAIT A MINUTE!!!" she shouted as she reached out.
"You ARE going to help me otherwise-" She was cut off mid threat.
"You'll spread strange rumors about me around the school, right?" Jin sighed again.
He dropped the backpack down where it had been lying before. "You've done a good job hiding the nasty side of you at school, I guess it helps in situations like this though." Jin said.
"Wha- What are you talking about?" Her eyebrows were furrowed, her pupils shrunk, her hands started shaking and her eyes widened.
"It's written all over your face that you're afraid which confirms what I'm thinking, also when we first met, no one usually starts a conversation with a negative comment or an insult as naturally as you did unless that's what they're actually like..." Jin explained remembering how when they had first met last year she started the conversation by saying how bad the teacher was.
Jin looked down and started rubbing the back of his head. "It's not like I'm afraid of your rumors or anything… I could care less what the public opinion of myself is, but this might help out Grey… he's been struggling for a while." Jin said the last part under his breath to himself.
He looked up at her. "So, why not just ask him out? Keep it straight and simple?" Jin asked once again returning to the leaning position on the railings.
She took a step backwards, clearly looking offended. "HUH?!!? Who do you think I am?! Why should someone as pretty and popular as me be the one asking another person out?!" She said arrogantly.
"Besides, that's not how it went in my dreams..." She hugged herself disappearing into her fantasies.
"OI! Knock it off!" Jin said, trying to get her back.
"So… where do I factor in?" He asked.
"Grey never notices me, and the only times he does is when I'm with you, so YOU'RE going to give him hints and tips and point him in my direction until he falls for me and asks me out!" She said confidently.
"I see..." Jin said unenthusiastically.
He returned back to looking at the grey sky. "And what makes you think I can do that?" He asked slowly,
"Just a hunch!" She said with a wink.
He snapped his head back to her. "OI! It's too late to play cute! And that's too vague!!" Jin fired back.
"Oh just get it done, or else..." she said with an evil smile.
"Anyway, the football team's about to start practice and I need to be there to support him, bye Jin!" She said as she ran away, trying to be cute.
"What the hell was that..." he asked himself as he tried to understand what had happened, "Well… at least she didn't give me a deadline, so this can be a slow process." He started to relax.
"OH!" She said as she quickly pushed open the door, "Homecoming is next week, so I want him to ask me out by this Friday!!"
SLAM!!! She quickly ran off again. Jin stared at the door in horror for a few moments before taking a deep breath and retracting into his own thoughts.
He turned his head upwards to the sky. "So it was just as I thought, when I approached her last Friday, the reason her shoulder was facing towards my left was because that's where Grey was going to come from. Her left foot was pointed at me because she was interested in asking me this question while the other was pointing in the direction of Grey..." Jin said quietly out loud, "And then on the roof, she must've known that I called her up there to ask her out but since it got a little late she couldn't tell me about this plan of hers then so she rainchecked the answer to today along with her explanation."
"AH WHAT A TROUBLESOME WOMEN!!" He shouted as he turned over and buried his head in his arms that were Crossed on the railing.
"But man, even though I knew it was coming it still hurts… and now I have to help her get into a relationship with the one she likes… talk about hell..." He said as stared off into the grey horizon, "*Sigh* Well, being depressed about it won't make anything better, might as well get to work..."
He got up slowly, picked up his bag and went downstairs, un-eagerly waiting for the next day.
