Dark Storm clouds crashed outside as heavy rain washed the walls and windows of the school. Jin and his friends walked down the hallway on the second floor after leaving their second period class. As they continued down the hall they were blinded by the bright flashes of lightning that would sneak in through the windows and deafened by the ground shaking thunderclaps.
"YO! So what did she say?!" Asked Ryan.
Ryan was a round Drum Major for the Marching band and one of Jin's friends from middle school. They had met back in sixth grade when he had joined the band for the fine arts credit. He had short, brown hair that looked like it was glued to his head and light blue eyes. He was wearing light blue jeans and a red long sleeve t-shirt with his red backpack slung over his shoulder. He was the same height as Jin but almost twice as wide, a side effect of his love for donuts.
"I'm willing to bet you money that he got rejected… this is why you need to play sports, right Nate?" Replied Ricky.
Ricky was a husky, tan skinned, black haired and eyed pitcher for the varsity baseball team and one of the few new friends Jin had made in high school. He had met Ricky in their history class during their freshman year. The two would sit next to each other and both fall asleep halfway through class but because of Ricky's loud snoring would always get caught. After spending weeks together after school in that class the two had grown closer together.
"Well, it certainly helps, but what did she say?" Nate asked.
The group of four had reached the stairwell and started walking down it, breaking to find their own paths downwards.
"Ah… well… she said no..." Jin said slowly as they grouped up again at the bottom.
Mohammad walked towards them from the left, increasing the group size. "Don't worry man, there are plenty of fish in the sea, I can give you some that I've caught?" Mohammad offered.
"Hey Jin!" Ana said from behind Mohammad as she joined the group.
But Jin hadn't heard either of their comments as his eyes had been focused on finding Grey in the large crowd of students that usually hang out in the commons. Once he had he quickly left, leaving Nate in the middle of what he was saying, something about confidence. He quickly moved through the crowd and found him, standing in between a large group of men roughly six inches taller than Jin.
"Yo Grey!" Jin said with a smile.
"JIN!!! WE WON!!!" He shouted, picking him up off the ground.
Jin panicked as he tried flailing his arms that had been pressed against his body ."AAAHHHHH!!!!" Jin shouted in surprise and slight horror at how easy it was for him.
After a few seconds of cheering and moving him around like a doll Grey put him back down.
"So, how are you doing man?" Jin asked after he had been standing on firm ground for a few seconds.
"Dude! I'm doing great!" He replied enthusiastically, "How are you?"
"Same old same old!" Jin lied.
"And… how's the other side of you doing?" He nudged Grey with his elbow.
Grey looked confused and slightly tilted his head and scratched it with a finger.
"Your romantic side..." Jin clarified after a few seconds of seeing Grey struggle.
He scratched his head some more as he looked around for help.
"I'm asking about your romantic life Grey, have you been talking to any girls recently?" Jin asked silently crying to himself in pain.
Grey laughed and smiled, finally understanding the question before quieting down. "Oh… Uh… it's… uh..." Grey fumbled around looking for something to say.
"That bad huh? Don't worry, I knew this was coming especially with Homecoming around the corner, I'll give you some tips after your practice today!" Jin said with a smile.
Grey looked at him in relief but immediately his expression changed to worry. "But we have practice until late, won't your parents worry?" Grey asked.
"Nah, they don't come home until very late every night so I'll be fine!" Jin said with a smile.
"Well then, I'll meet you here after school, see ya!" He said turning around and walking to his next class.
"THANKS MAN!!" Grey shouted.
