The next day the dark storm clouds from the previous day had hung around as the rain continued to fall but the lightning had stopped letting the torrential downpour take over, allowing it to worsen with each hour.
"So, what's the plan today?" George asked Jin as they left their fourth period class.
Jin never heard him, caught in his own thoughts worrying about Grey and whether or not he actually understood what he explained to him yesterday.
They continued walking down the hallway as his friends took free jabs at Jin and talked amongst one another. They reached the stairwell while Jin was still deep in thought, dispersing like usual and then grouping back together as they reached the bottom.
"Yo Jin! How's it going?" Ana asked as he and his friends came down the stairs.
Once again Jin didn't hear her, seeing Chandler give him a glare as he caught sight of the commons. He once again disappeared into his thoughts worried about whether or not he would be able to teach Grey something new today after school. He continued walking, not listening to his friends call out to him. He kept going until he caught sight of Grey standing along one of the sides of the commons, looking around the area as if he were looking for someone.
"You good there pal?" Jin asked as he approached him.
"Yeah…" He said not paying too much attention and still looking around the area.
"Looking for someone?" Jin asked.
"I was but that time passed, now I'm just practicing what you told me yesterday." He replied.
Jin furrowed his eyebrows as he leaned his back against the wall. "Did you understand it all?" Jin asked not fully understanding what he meant at the start.
"Yeah, I talked to my mom about it and she basically said what you said but it made more sense!" Grey's eyes lit up and a huge grin now sat on his face.
Thank you Momma Walker! Jin cried tears of joy as he thought to himself.
"But man this really opens up a new world, like I can understand people's intentions without even talking to them…" He said as he pointed to a couple standing near one of the pillars, "Like that pair over there, the dude has his feet crossed while talking to the girl meaning he wants to continue the conversation or that other pair near the stairwell where the girl's pupils are dilated when talking to the dude leaning against the wall!"
Jin squinted, even he couldn't make out those details. He realized that the level of focus Grey was showing was something critical to pull off some of the plays he does on the field.
Grey pointed to the wall opposite where they were standing. "Or how that kid has his feet crossed while the guy with blue hair is bending over in front of him and tying them together which means he doesn't want to leave!" Grey said with a smile and laugh.
"WAIT THAT'S NOT SUBCONSCIOUS, TYLER'S TYING HIS FEET TOGETHER!!" Jin looked alarmed, "ALSO WHY ISN'T ANYONE STOPPING HIM?!?!?!"
Grey laughed out loud as Jin looked around in panic as a few of the teachers came and resolved the potential kidnapping.
"Alright then, let's practice some more, take a look at the center of the commons, do you see Chandler?" Jin asked.
"Yeah, Oh! She's looking this way!!" Grey said excitedly.
Jin closed his eyes and looked down. "Alright let's see what you can make out!" Jin asked.
"Her feet are pointed towards us… her pupils look, it's hard to make out but they look slightly bigger… maybe… and she knows we're looking at her!" Grey finished, "That means her attention is directed towards here, she likes looking at either me or you and she notices us!"
"That's right, that's right!" Jin said with a smile, "WAIT she notices us?!"
His eyes shot open as he pushed himself off the wall. Chandler was waving at them with a giant smile on her face.
"Yeah, she's waving!" Grey said excitedly as Jin grinded his teeth in anger.
"Alright that's enough I'll see you after school!" Jin said angrily as he walked away to class, leaving Grey confused as to what had happened to make him mad.
