Night Hunter!

"She was compelled to forget", Charles stated as he rejoined the sheriff, Giuseppe Rocco, at the parking lot of Beaconsdale hospital.

"A vampire?", Giuseppe asked.

"Yep", Charles said.

"You're telling me that there's a vampire running around Beaconsdale that we don't know about?", Giuseppe asked.

Alvin and Jason were the only known vampires in town and neither of the brothers would do something like that.

Charles nodded. "There could be more. We should be expecting dead bodies, drained of blood soon. I'm surprised there aren't any already. Maybe they're trying to keep a low profile".

"Damn it!", Giuseppe hit his car with his fist out of frustration and creating a small dent, only to hold his hand in pain.

"What the hell has gotten into you?", Charles asked.

"I'm just frustrated, that's all", Giuseppe said but Charles knew that it was because of something else.

"It's not because if the new vampire is it? Cause I've never seen you this worked up because of potential murders by vampires", Charles said.

Giuseppe sighed and said, "It's Emily".

Charles's eyebrows knitted together. "What 𝒂𝒃𝒐𝒖𝒕 Emily?".

"She's started asking questions about her mother again. I think she suspects that I'm not telling her the whole truth about her mother's death", Giuseppe said, a pained look suddenly evident in his eyes.

"You know you 𝒔𝒉𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒅 tell her", Charles said making Giuseppe look at him as if he said was nonsense.

"Yes, I'll just call her and be like "Your mother didn't really die of cancer. She was actually killed by one of my closest friends' dead father because she kept lost control and was sucking the souls of any person she touched because is what her kind does. And PS, you're not human either. The only reason you're not sucking everyone's soul is because of the restriction charm put on you since your birth"". Giuseppe grumbled.

Charles was left speechless.

"Wow! I'm sure there are a lot more way to tell her that", Charles said making Giuseppe sigh out of frustration.

"You should sit her down first and tell her everything", Charles said as he took Giuseppe's hand and healed.

"But how? How do you tell your daughter she's not human?", Giuseppe asked, his voice really low.

"Can't say I know. But just know that you can call me whenever you want to tell her. I'll help with whatever I can", Charles said.

Giuseppe looked at Charles and said, "Thank you".

Charles sighed and patted Giuseppe on the back.

"I need to get going now that we're done this emotional session of yours", Charles said.wh

"Be careful", Giuseppe said. He had heard how dangerous it was, where they were going.

*****

Back at the mansion, Bryce, Cashel, Kyra, Carter and Jason were all feeling very tired from last night. Kevin and Daniel had been sent to school since they weren't at the school last night. They complained but Charles sent them either way.

They heard the front door open and then saw Charles, Wilson and another man walk in. The man was of a Hispanic original judging by his look. He had short curly brown hair and deep blue eyes. He stood at 6"2 tall. He had a muscular build and looked to be 47 years old.

"Dad!", said said as he got up and ran to the man. The man was Carter's dad, Iván De Léon.

"Mijo", Iván said, putting his hand on Carter's shoulder. "We need to talk".

Carter's face turned sour.

*****

Carter and his father, Ivan came out to talk.

"Carter, this world we are in might seem normal and that humans are on top of the food chain. Once you know where to look, you'll find out that there's more to this world than meets the eye. There are people who can do amazing things and perform certain feet that can only be described as supernatural. There are creatures that drink human blood to survive, there are people that turn into wolves during the full moon, heck there are even creature that feed on human souls", Ivan started to explain. Carter's face kept changing, listening to what his dad was saying.

"Why did you not tell me?", Carter asked. If he hadn't found out about Bryce and the other, would his dad have ever told him about the supernatural.

"Eventually, yes", Ivan answered.

"You had no right to keep this a secret from me, Dad. You had no right", Carter said.

"Mijo, I'm your father. Of course I did. I had every right to keep it from you. It was to protect you.", Ivan said.

"But you still should have told me", Carter said.

"It was all to protect you, Carter. I've seen a lot of friends set foot in the supernatural world and almost all of them are dead. You think I'd want that for you, huh? I didn't want to put you in danger", Ivan said.

Even though Carter was mad that his dad had kept such a secret from him, he already knew deep down that it was to protect him and keep him safe.

"What are you? Are you like any of them?", Carter asked. He remembered what Wilson said last night and the fact that he couldn't be compelled by Alvin.

Ivan sighed and started to explain. "I'm a Night Hunter. Hunters are people who hunt supernaturals; people like Wilson and Hartley but night hunters are stronger, faster and more durable; not as strong or fast as vampires or werewolves but still stronger and faster than ordinary people. We also have superior fighting and hunting abilities than can match us against other supernaturals".

Unlike ordinary hunters, night hunters are supernaturals that hunt other supernaturals species. Night hunters only exist to prevent supernaturals from overpopulating the earth. Some hunt any supernatural creature they come across but most night hunters go after supernaturals with bad reputations; like vampires that feed on humans and then kill them without even covering their backs. Most night hunters also choose to stay away from supernaturals and lead peaceful lives.

"I'm really sorry that I didn't tell you all this and I hope that you understand that it was for your own good, mijo", Ivan said.

"I know, Dad", Carter said.

The two then hugged.

"So all those times you went on business trips with mom, were they actually business trips?", Carter asked.

Ivan hesitated a bit. "No. Most of them were actually hunting trips", he answered.

"What about mom?", Carter asked.

"No, Your mom actually goes on business trips. She isn't a hunter but she 𝒅𝒐𝒆𝒔 know about the supernatural", Ivan answered.

"Then am I like you?", Carter asked.

"Yes", Ivan answered. "Your grandfather was one. His father was also one. Many of our ancestors were also night hunters", he added.

Carter stayed silent for a while, trying to process everything.

"Is this why you've been teaching me how to fight since I was ten?", Carter asked, a smile appearing on his face.

"Yeah", Ivan chuckled and answered, making Carter also chuckled.

"Since you now know all this, you should also know about the gems", Ivan said, making Carter's brows knit together.

"What gems?", Carter asked.

"Well not much is known about them. Charles found out about them in a journal left by his mother. It said that each gem has the power to wipe out an entire sun", Ivan said making Carter gasp.

"They're that powerful?", Carter asked.

"You have no idea. Even though the journal said that, we know that they're far more powerful", Ivan added.

"Then where are they?", Carter asked.

"Bryce and his brothers have each", Ivan answered and started to explain some things about the three half-brothers.

"In 1818, Bryce, Kevin and Daniel were sent to find the gems...", Ivan started explaining but Carter cut if off.

"1818?", Carter asked.

"Yep", Ivan answered making Carter's brows knit together in confusion

Ivan continued, "They were sent to retrieve the gems from a realm called the Mandrake Realm. Time works differently there, so when they came from the Mandrake Realm, two hundred years had already passed".

After hearing this Carter didn't know what to think.

"Like time travel?", Carter asked.

"Yep", Ivan nodded and answered.

"Charles thinks that there might be more gems but like I said earlier, we don't actually know", Ivan added.

Carter nodded and imagined just how powerful those gems were and there being more of them. He couldn't even imagine what would happen, if they got into the wrong hands.

*****

Carter and Ivan went back inside. Charles was telling the others how they were going to cure Jason from the werewolf venom. He said there were many ways to cure him but they could only go for two due to certain condition needed to cure the venom.

The first one was to take out the canines of a werewolf in their werewolf form and then grind them together with other ingredients to make to make the cure, but that one was quickly ruled out. Because after the spell was completed and they had created the cure, the werewolf whose canine fangs were used would loose all their werewolf abilities and become even weaker than the average human because they lost the magic that made them what they are. The werewolf would also be prone to many illnesses and diseases if they survived. It was either that or the werewolf would die because of suddenly loosing all the magic in them.

Every supernatural had magic in them. That's the only thing that separated them from ordinary people. Once they lost that magic, they would died. Only witches and other supernaturals related to them; like the fae or dwarves et cetera can survive loosing their magic.

The witch that casted the spell to make the cure could also loose a large amount of magic after the cure was completed.

Since this was ruled out, they only had one way to get a cure for Jason.
