Mission

Zane wanted to be so angry from all the embarrassment. He and Kevin had gone on for about thirty minutes with Kevin besting him every second. Yep. The captain of the school football team had been bested by some rando who came out of nowhere.

Everyone around had stopped whatever they were doing to watch the two - or rather, Kevin totally embarrassing Zane. Daniel, The football team, Katherine, The cheerleaders, Emily and other students that happened to be nearby were all watching in awe as Zane was being outclassed at football by Kevin.

Zane didn't want this to go on any longer. He had been holding back all this time. He decided to go all out and that was when Kevin suddenly got faster and stronger. But that wasn't what made Zane admit defeat.

But still, Zane didn't want to get angry. More like he couldn't. Because he knew he didn't have the right to get angry. He knew perfectly that Kevin was only embarrassing him this much because of what happened at Carter's party, last Friday night. He had almost stabbed Kevin with a broken glass bottle. Almost. He actually would have stabbed him, if Bryce hadn't stepped in and gotten cut instead. He was sure he would he on his way to jail by now for killing a classmate when he was drunk while still underaged, no matter how rich his parents were. Even though his jaw almost broke from Bryce's punch, he was relieved that he didn't kill any. If possible he would, he would like to keep it like that for the rest of his life.

Yesterday, before he dumped into Cashel, out of curiosity, he glanced at Bryce's hands to see if he should be relieved or be feeling regret. But then he saw that there wasn't even any bandaid or anything to prove that Bryce had been hurt just barely three days ago. There wasn't even a scar. It was like he was never hurt in the first place.

At first Zane got really suspicious but then started thinking that maybe his mind really was playing tricks on him, and that Bryce hadn't really gotten that hurt and all the blood he saw saw just him seeing things.

But another thing that kept bothering him was the suspicion that there was more to the Hewson brothers than what met the eye. In fact, he was now more convinced about that now more than ever.

Glowing eyes. That was his reason. He knew he was drunk during the party, but he saw it. He clearly saw Bryce's eyes glow. He wasn't seeing things because he was drunk. He wasn't. He knew what he saw and he saw Bryce's eyes glow bright blue.

And what would you know?! Just today, a few minutes ago, he just happened to also see Kevin's eyes also glow, bright green. And when his eyes started glowing, he suddenly got fasted and swifter when was one of the reasons why Zane admitted defeat and was now panting so much on the grass.

There was also the fact that he knew something happened last night but for some reason, he couldn't remember what. He knew he was going to confront Bryce about his glowing eyes, along with Carter and Mitch. Mitch didn't seem to be any different from normal but for some reason Carter wasn't in school today. And guess who also wasn't.

Bryce frickin Hewson.

He was so sure now that he wasn't going crazy and that the Hewson brothers weren't normal - or maybe just Bryce and Kevin since he hadn't seen Daniel's eyes glow.

Yet.

But Zane was going to find out about whatever those Hewson brothers got going on. He was going to make it his mission. And the timing couldn't be anymore perfect. It turns out that, this coming Saturday was 31st October, 2020: Halloween. There was even going to be a blue moon.

Eugene Parker had quite taken a liking to this small, pathetic town full of rich people. When he first came here in search of the gems, he didn't think there would be anything interesting in this small town. But boy was he wrong. He bet would have already been found out had Lena not prepared that perfume to keep his scent undetected. He knew his girlfriend had history with this town but she wouldn't tell him no matter how much he asked.

This small town of Beaconsdale was actually interesting than Eugene thought. He thought it'd be plain and boring but he soon found out that this town actually had supernaturals around. They were even in the school he was currently posing as a substitute teacher. There were those twins who turned out to actually werewolves. What were their names again?

Ah, yes! Michaels.

The children of the chemistry teacher, Hartley Michaels - who was human - were werewolves. In fact that wasn't the only interesting thing. Eugene had also found out that there were also two vampires in Beaconsdale Highschool. One posing as the new Teacher and the other a student. Eugene guessed that they were related due to their similar structures and similar surname: Finley.

Apart from those two werewolves and two vampires, they were also a bunch of people here that smelled funny.

Come on, it's not what you're thinking. Eugene wasn't a creep who went around smelling random people. He only noticed it because of his enhanced sense of smell. When you have a sense of smell like his, you tend to pick up some things.

Eugene didn't know what these people that smelled funny were. He was curious - expecially with the blonde bimbo that hangs out with the female Michaels - but he didn't want to investigate since it'll just bring unnecessary attention towards him and he didn't want that. At least not when he didn't have at least one of those frickin gems.

He knew that the gems had merged with three teenage witches - courtesy of Lena - but since witches had the same scent as ordinary people, he couldn't find them with his sense of smell. He didn't even know if those witches were male or female. This was why Lena was working on the locator. An artifact that would be able to locate the gems if they were nearby.

So as Lena was preparing the locator, he would do his job as a substitute history teacher and teach history. In fact, teaching history was rather simple for him since he was actually present during some of the events that went on in a few hundred years from now.

That was what he was doing, when a boy caught his attention. The boy was a senior. He was the captain of the school football team. A pretty fit athlete who had been the captain of the school football team since he was a freshman. Pretty impressive. But this wasn't the initial reason why the boy, Zane Merlino, had caught Eugene's attention. Seriously, he wouldn't have cared about how impressive Zane was if that was the reason. But the reason was his resolve to not get triggered right now.

Eugene was just passing by the football field. It was extra curricular and the members of the football team were practicing. At least that was what they 𝑤𝑒𝑟𝑒 doing before a boy walked to the field and challenged Zane to a one on one football match. Zane was annoyed at first but still accepted the challenge either way.

Then, something that Eugene wasn't expecting, happened. Well, let's say that the captain of the football team was outclassed at his own game by the boy. Eugene was quite impressed by the boy. He was also impressed by the fact that Zane was trying so hard to not get triggered after being embarrassed so much in front of his team.

Just yesterday, Eugene had witnessed Zane get into a fight with the male Michaels twin after bumping into him. It was normal for werewolves to be normally aggressive so Eugene wasn't surprised at that. What surprised him was the fact that Zane was equally aggressive as the werewolf yesterday yet today he was trying so hard to stay calm. Eugene couldn't help but think that something had happened between Zane and the boy and that the boy was purposely embarrassing Zane. An idea suddenly sprouted in his head.

Zane was trying so hard to stay calm. How would he react in a similar situation as this when he was no longer an ordinary human?

Eugene couldn't help but wonder.

A smile appeared on his handsome face as he turned around to leave when he almost bumped into a person.

"Woah! Almost didn't see you there", the person said, surprised. The person was none other than the vampire teacher. Alvin Finley.

No wonder he got so close to me without me noticing him. Eugene thought in his head with a sigh.

"Hey! You're the substitute, right?", Alvin asked.

"Yeah! And I'm guessing you're the new English teacher?", Eugene answered and asked with a forced smile.

"I'm Alvin. Alvin Finley", Alvin introduced himself and went for a handshake.

"Eugene Parker", Eugene introduced himself as he firmly shook Alvin's hand.

"Woah! What a firm grip you have going on", Alvin commented. He felt that he might have actually felt the pain coursing through his hand if he didn't have vampiric strength.

"Oh sorry", Eugene 'apologized' and let go of Alvin's hand.

"I would have loved to have a chat with you but I actually have go right now", Eugene lied. He didn't have anything important to attend to At least not right now. He just wanted to get away from Alvin.

"Oh okay. Sure", Alvin said as Eugene rushed off.

The smile on Eugene's face disappeared immediately and was replaced with annoyance as he left Alvin.

"Geez. You didn't have to lie about it. It didn't want to talk to you either", Alvin mumbled to himself. He knew perfectly well that what Eugene said was a lie.

Alvin just wanted to be nice. That was the only reason he wanted to strike a conversation with Eugene after almost bumping into him.

Alvin stared at the back of retreating figure of Eugene and couldn't help but think that there was something strange about him. Alvin didn't know what so he thought nothing of it and just shrugged it off.
