Author's Pov

As the days passed Shruti was getting a lot of proposals, but she did not like anyone. And she was enjoying her single life. Even her parents not so worried, because she was just twenty three years old. But her father always wished to marry her off at the age of twenty three. It is not because that she is a burden, but yeah according to him it is better to be settled early than taking time. And one of the main reason is that now a days even the boys are getting married at the age of twenty five. So he secretly wished to marry her off at the earliest. Shruti knew about her father's wish, she knew that her father loved her so much, she also knew that if her parents found her a better alliance they would fix her marriage and will marry her off at he earliest, so she was praying to God to not to let her meet the man for whom she is destined. She have always been afraid of getting a cruel mother in law. She always prayed to God for gifting her with a beautiful family who will consider her as their own daughter and sister. She was actually afraid to get married. She had heard a lot about the stories of the cruel mother in laws from her cousins and aunts.

Shruti's Pov

Today is one of my favorite day of the week. Do you have any guess about which day is it? Yes it is Sunday. And according to me Sunday means funday. As it was Sunday me along with my family, we went to one of the church which is little bit famous. I love going to that church, so I literally begged my parents to take me there. So after attending the holy mass, my parents went to meet the parish Priest, which they do whenever they come here. So as Ed was not there with me today, (he was having Sunday classes) even I decided to go with them. We greeted the Priest and my parents began to talk about some topics, which I have no interest in. So I decided to just listen to it. And then came the topic about my marriage proposals, actually I am tired about hearing it, so I decided to take a walk around the church. Soon after telling Mamma to call me when they are leaving I started to walk, as I was walking , I saw a man and a women of my parent's age approaching the priest, and to my surprise they just stared at me. I felt so creepy so I just smiled at them and walked off from there.

After an hour I saw my parents coming towards the car, and I felt that they were so happy. As I asked them the reason they started to tell me some lame excuses. I thought to let it off. After reaching back home I changed my dress and went to have my breakfast. And then I helped Mamma with kitchen chores. Today she was busy, when I asked her the reason she told me that we have guests for the dinner. And I was like what the hell. Today I was not at all pleased to have the guests. So anyway I helped Mamma and then I cleaned my house. We had our lunch at 3pm. And then Mamma told me that Pappa was asking for me, when I asked her what was the reason she told me that she didn't know. When I went and asked Pappa, the words that he told me made me surprised. He told me that the guests who are coming for the dinner are actually coming to see me, I mean they are coming with a proposal for their son. As their son is working at Banglore and as he is going back tomorrow morning, they thought of coming today for dinner. You may think that what is the big deal in it, as now for me its common to see some random guys, why am I making it a big problem right? The thing is that even my parents liked this alliance and Pappa told me that only if I am ok with this proposal they would like to fix it.

I never thought that soon, I will get an alliance which is already approved by my parents and my siblings. Now the decision is all mine. You know my Pappa is not a guy who will like someone so easily, if he told me that he liked someone for me or that he found an appropriate groom for me then, I am damn sure that there will be something special with that family. So anyway let them come, let me talk to them, then I can decide whether to tell yes or no. So now I am all dressed up. I am wearing a light blue salwar.

I am not a person who is fond of make up so yeah a bindhi does my work. I wear kajal for occasions but today I am not in a mood to apply anything other than bindhi. As I went downstairs I saw my parents video calling my sister, She and her family is presently staying at Germany. She had a love marriage with the approval of my parents four years back. And then she moved to there, currently she is working as a professor at some university, I am sorry I don't know the name, and her husband that is my brother is working at some hospital over there as a social worker. So after having a chat with them I decided to watch some movies with Ed till their arrival. At 7 pm I heard the arrival of two cars, which told me that they were here. So I switched off the television and went inside the kitchen. Pappa and Mamma greeted them and helped them to settle in the living room. Soon Ed came and told me that he also liked the groom. When Pappa called me to the living room, I went there, and I was shocked to see the people, they were the same family who I saw in the morning at church. Pappa introduced them to me. Uncle's name was Peter and his wife Sherin. They are having five children. The elder one is Jerom, he is a cardiologist, he was married to Jenitta, she is a neurologist and they were having a cute boy Eric. Then the second one is Donny, a software engineer and he was married to Jessica, a professor and they were also having an angel Mia. Then third one is Jake, my groom, he is a physician. fourth child Luke, who is pursuing his studies in business management, and these four brothers have a younger sister Ananya who is pursuing her studies in fashion technology.

And then they started to ask me about my studies and all. Jake was just sitting there hearing my talks and answering the questions which my parents asked him at times. I instantly liked them, I felt so comfortable with them, his brothers and sisters were so friendly, even the two small wo kids were so adorable. I gave them chocolates which is usually stored in the fridge. And then they told me and Jake to have a talk with each other and to tell them whether we are ok with this alliance. Pappa told me to take Jake to the upstairs. So after reaching the balcony, we started to introduce our selves. He told me about his likes and dislikes and even I told him mine. Then I told about my point of view of the type of husband that I crave for. And I also assured him that I would look after his family as my own, its just that I want someone who would respect my parents and also who spends some quality of time with them. He also told me that even he craved for a person who sees his family as her's. And then I told him that I had a past relation, which was not something serious, but yeah a little bit. He too told me that even he had some past. And then he told me that he didn't care about the past. And Ed came up and told me that elders were asking for us. I told him that we are coming, and started to walk down, I was stopped by hearing my name called by someone. "Shruti", he called me and then said something which made me surprised.
