Chapter 5

CHAPTER 5

Rose POV

It’s already lunchtime and I was feeling so much better after talking to Luke. I walked into the dining hall and began to look for tables assigned to me. I remember one of the girls telling me some of the important rules and thought to revise them. ‘You only serve the assigned tables until there is a special request from guests for someone particular. Two complaints and you are fired and no mistakes with serving. Don’t mess up with the order or it would be deducted from your salary. Doesn’t matter who serves how many, you get the same pay. Your tip is what you earn extra, manager won’t ask about it.’ Many rules are still not known to me but I think this would do for now.

Once I spot the tables assigned to me, I head to my first table and start greeting the guests and taking their orders. Shortly after the whole place was buzzing with aristocratic businessmen or businesswomen and their associates. It was crystal clear to me that this restaurant is a famous spot for lunch meetings.

There were only a few people who actually came to have a family lunch here. For the whole time, I was serving in business meetings making me want to hit my head after hearing so much of business. And then there was a bunch of old rude ladies who have not spared a moment to make it any less hell for me and then these heels. ‘God these heels are killing me. They are suicidal, how come women wear it every day and love it.’

‘Just so you know it’s not that bad. It actually makes you look sexy.’

‘It’s not good either. I don’t want to look sexy by killing my legs.’

‘So, you accept you want to look sexy. That’s new. Let me guess, is it for Luke or the Greek God we saw yesterday?’

‘None of them; now let me work.’

I was walking back after giving the cheque to the table of the rude ladies who think they are it for the world. Only if they knew and thinking about it, I walked into a wall but the warmth told me otherwise and I’m serious when I say I would have appreciated it if I actually walked into a wall. ‘I could make a record for bumping into people.’

‘While receiving the award for the record, you will bump again into someone and break your own record.’

‘Could you please be on my side for once and understand the extremity of the situation here. I might get fired if they complain on my first day here.’

‘Fine’

‘Just fine, hell even you are giving me attitude, great.’

I shook my head and look up to apologize but come across a pair of forest green eyes; they are so familiar yet so different. Before I could apologize to the man, a woman dressed in very classy and stylish clothing came to us, and by the way, the man in front of me wrapped his arm around her waist, I was sure she is his wife. She didn’t look a day above thirty-five and her warm brown eyes were assessing me while I stood there like I just committed a crime. When she was done looking at me, she opened her mouth to say something and I readied myself to get insulted and humiliated but what came next took me by surprise.

“You should always watch while you are walking. If you keep on bumping with these hulk type of men, you will get injured. Take care of yourself, ok?” The woman in front of me suggested.

I smiled at her and said “Thank you for your concern ma’am. I will look out next time.”

The woman also smiled and was about to say something when her husband interrupted in a whining voice, “I’m not hulk” and paused for a dramatic effect while pointing towards his chest and said in a cocky voice “And you love this body darling. I will surely show you what this man you called hulk can do.” The lady instantly blushed and shook her head.

The man gave a satisfactory smirk to her and continued, “Let’s take our seats now.” While nodding towards me.

Apparently, their reservation was in my section and I was more than happy to serve them. They just gave the feeling of warmth and I would not mind seeing some affection with all the hassle of business around, it’s almost like a change of scenery.

I then went to ask them when they would like to order and they both smiled politely while letting me know that they are still waiting for someone. I let them enjoy their time and served them the complimentary wine offered by the restaurant.
