Chapter 29

"Milo, Raymond, make sure they leave the premises," I ordered. "Everyone else, once they return with the all clear, I want you to pack your things. I want to leave by noon."

I turn away and run back to the passageway where I left Braydon bleeding to death. When I got to him he looked pale, paler than a ghost.

"Ok, I'm going to get you out of here." I loop my arm under the arm that isn't applying pressure to the wound.

I tried to lift him, but he's really heavy and all his energy is drained. He can't help me help him lift him up. He grunted and pulled me away.

"I can't get up." He says breathily. "Just leave me here to die."

I stare down at him. "No. I won't let you die."

Looping my arm under him again, I try with all my might to lift him again. "Zeria, Stop!" He yells at me.

"There's no point. I'm going to die here whether you like it or not. I can't move, I can barely talk. By the time you get the spray, I'll already be dead. Just stay here and say your goodbyes."
