Blueth Mendoza's POV
"Well, what do we have here? A pair of troublemakers?"
My eyes grew wide as I saw this huge shadow behind the girl. She saw the expression on my face and she looked behind her, she got shocked as well making her fall beside me.
What's this thing that I'm feeling? Why can't I move my legs? Why can't I get up and run!? Is this the feeling of complete fear running through your body? What do I do!?
"Run."
"Huh?" I looked towards the girl as she was looking at the huge figure in front of us.
"I said run!" She said as she grabbed my arm and she started running, dragging me along with her.
'Wait, why are we running!? More accurately, why are YOU running? I thought you were a scavenger as well!?" I said as I tried to keep up with her. She's a fast runner I can tell you that.
"I'm running because I'm not a scavenger, I just told that because I wanted to scare you!"
"What!? Why!? Do you even know me!?"
"No, I have no idea who you are! Which makes me want to scare you!"
"Why!?"
"So that I wouldn't get in trouble when I scare you."
"I still don't get it!"
We kept running and running, as fast as we can, the scavenger just right behind us. I looked for ways to lose it, but I can't find anything which we can use to stop it or just slow it down. As we kept running, I saw stacks of chairs, and base on my knowledge of stacked chairs, they have a 70 percent chance of making someone stuck.
As we were getting closer to the chairs, I reached out my hand and pulled the stack, making them fall over the scavenger, making it trap.
"Aha! Trapped!" I said as I looked over my shoulders. We didn't stop running because I know those chairs won't hold it off for too long. We manage to find a good place to hide and catch our breathes.
"That was some smart thinking back there, how's you know that those chairs would trap it?" The girl asked me as she wiped off the sweat forming on her forehead.
"Oh, I just have some knowledge about chairs and the way they stack on you, you know."
The girl laughed a little as she offered her hand for a handshake. "You know? You're not bad."
I smiled as I accepted her handshake. "Yeah, well, you're not too bad yourself."
We sat down as we are still out of breath from all that running we did. I looked at her and started asking her why she's here.
"So, why are you here? And be honest this time, please?"
She looked at me as she gave me this sweet small smile. A smile that can send a warm feeling inside your heart.
"Asking questions right off the bat huh? I like that. Straightforward."
I smiled at her and I got ready to listen to what she has to say for herself.
"Well, I guess to start things off, I'm here not because I'm one of those scavengers. I'm here because I'm an item finder."
"Item finder?"
"Yes, we find lost and stolen items for people. Anyway, I'm here because I was tasked with finding this ballpen of some sort. The owner of it said that it has a sentimental value in it and that he really needs it. So, that's why I'm here."
"Oh, well did you find it already?"
"Not yet, I checked every room of this scavenger hideout, but I couldn't find it yet. I'm afraid that I may have entered the wrong hideout. That or my client just dropped it somewhere and it didn't get stolen."
"I see."
After our conversation, silence filled the room, but it quickly disappeared because she started asking me questions.
"Well, I've answered most of your questions, now it's time for me to start asking the questions. Why are you here?"
"Oh, well I was looking for a house for my friends to stay in."
"A house? For your friends? Then why are you here? In a scavenger's hideout?"
"Well, that's the thing actually, I didn't know that this place was a scavenger hideout of some sort, and I kind of went exploring inside."
"Huh, then where are your friends? Why aren't they helping you?"
"Well, they don't really know that I'm finding them a home, well, one of them knows that I went out to find them a home, but she didn't come with me, she stayed behind."
"That doesn't sound right. Your friends should come with you."
"Actually, she warned me that it would be dangerous, but I didn't listen to her, so, here we are. Inside the house of a scavenger."
"What I'm getting on your story is that you are a stubborn kid."
"I can't argue with that."
She gave this little laugh as I saw these little blushes on her cheeks. Wait, is she digging me? Let me check.
"Are you gay?" I asked as I looked at her straight in the eyes.
"What?"
"Nothing." Wow, she's really good at keeping it a secret.
As we were standing around, we heard a roar of some sort, it must be the scavenger. Scavengers are just people with dark clothes and masks, but their ways turned them into something that they are not supposed to be.
"We need to get out of this place." She said as she grabbed my arm and started dragging me outside.
"Wait, but what about the things you were supposed to get? Won't your clients get mad at you if your return empty-handed?" I asked as I kept following her. Not like I could resist following her, she has my arm and she's dragging me, so I just followed her.
"Don't worry, I'll just explain it to them."
Not long and we finally made it outside the house, I looked at her and she smiled at me.
"Well, this has been fun. We should do this sometime, well, minus the part where we got caught." She said while she looked at me.
I let out a little laugh as she said that we should do it again sometime. It's not that I don't want to or anything, it's just that I remembered her face when she saw the scavenger behind her. She was so freaked out by it.
She smiled as she kept looking at me, she then reached out her hands towards me. "My name's Rachelle, what's yours?"
I smiled as I shook her hand. "I'm Blueth."
"Blueth, that's a cute name." She said with a smile. "Well, I got to bounce. I'll see you around then." She said as she started running away. She's a nice kid.
I made my way back towards the roof where Cathy was. I was surprised that she was still counting, waiting for me to come back.
"45,693, 45,694, 45,695. You better come back here Blueth!" Cathy said, all out of breath. I let out a smile as I picked her up. As I set her down on my lap, she immediately fell asleep. Awe, I know that I should feel sorry because I made her wait and count, but she looks so cute.
Minutes went by and Ms. Val arrived, carrying a piece of paper in her hand. "Okay gals, I have some great news for you!"
"Go away, that'll be great news for me." Cathy said as she kept her eyes closed.
"What's the news?" I asked as I started brushing Cathy's fur.
"Well, this gal got our old house back!" Ms. Val said as she showed us the deed for the house.
"Did you scam them?" I asked with this irritated look on my face.
"What? Of course not! Well, I was about to, but they gave me the deed to the house the second I stepped my foot in their establishment. They say that people don't want to buy it because it stinks and it looks haunted. People these days, can't tell a good house when they see one. Anyway, what happened to you? You look like you've been hit by a truck." Ms. Val pointed at my clothes, all covered in dust and debris.
"Well, let's just say that I met a new friend." I said as I looked at the sun beginning to set.

"Ahh, yes, that's the one I have been looking for. You have done well, child."
