Chapter Ten

Blueth Mendoza's POV

"Just a little bit mooooooore. Keep gooooooing. Aaaaaaand there, perfect!"

If you are wondering what I am blabbering on about, I was keeping an eye on the sign while Ms. Val and Cathy set it up. I was in charge of telling them if it's straight or not. And if you haven't guessed it yet, both Ms. Val and Cathy are up on the roof, and as I said earlier, they were setting up the sign for the house.

"Not too bad, am I right kid?" Ms. Val said as she looked at me while she was still at the roof of the house, giving me a thumbs up.

"Not too bad indeed Ms. Val!"

After a very long time, Ms. Val finally decided that it was time to liven up the house a little bit. We weren't getting any customers because the house looked dusty and scary. So, Ms. Val decided to renovate the house.

It took us a whole week but we finally finished renovating the entire house, it cost us our blood, sweat, and tears! It also cost us a fortune so, just putting that information there in case someone's wondering. But it was all worth it! What was left now is to paint the house. I wonder what color Ms. Val will choose for it.

"Well kid, we did it. We have finished renovating the entire house. Now, there is only one thing we must do, and this is the most important task of them all. Can I trust you in completing it?" Ms. Val said as she placed her hands on my shoulders and looked me in the eyes. Oh boy, the most important task? I'm getting excited just thinking about it!

I looked back at Ms. Val's eyes with determination in my eyes. "Yes, Ms. Val. You can count on me to complete it. I won't let you down."

Ms. Val smiled at me and started giving me information about the task she was talking about.

"Okay kid, I want you to listen very closely. You are given the task to." This is it! I can feel my heart pounding with excitement! Tell me what it is Ms. Val! I can't take the suspense anymore! "You are tasked in choosing what color the house will be."

"Yes! I am tasked in choosing what color the house will b--- Wait, what?"

"What's with that expression kid? Aren't you happy? You get to have the honor of choosing what color the house will be."

"Are you sure Ms. Val? I'm not really that good at choosing anything, especially with colors."

"Don't worry about it, I trust in you. Besides, what's the worst that could hap--- This, this is the worst that could happen."

Ms. Val said as she was standing outside, looking at the newly painted house.

"Well, you did tell Blueth that she can choose whatever color she wanted." Cathy said as she walked right past Ms. Val.

"Well, how was I supposed to know that the kid was girly?"

"You thought that the kid was something else? You need to change your way of thinking Val."

"Oh yeah? Well, I was born with it, not like I can take it off in 10 seconds or something. Anyway, where's the kid?"

"Looking for me?" I said as Ms. Val jumped when she saw me.

"Kid! You're going to give me a heart attack!"

"Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't know that you were so easy to scare and get startled. Anyway, so? What do you think of the new color of the house? It took a while for me to choose what color to get. I was torn between pink and violet, I didn't know what to get. But with careful thinking and analysis, I found out that pink would go pretty well. So, do you like it?"

Ms. Val looked at it and she has this look of instant regret plastered on her face. Did I mess up? I messed up, haven't I? Ms. Val doesn't like the color, I knew I should've gone for the violet!

"Ms. Val? Are you okay? If you don't like it, I can still change it back. I can use my own money to buy new paint."

Ms. Val didn't respond and just kept on staring at the newly painted house. I stood still waiting for Ms. Val's response. I kept telling her that I can still fix it and I was willing to use my own money to buy new paint for it, but Ms. Val didn't respond, she just stood there, frozen.

The silence was spreading all around us, I wanted to go sit inside but I was frozen solid, I can feel fear slowly creeping up on me, holding me down. Why am I even feeling this intense amount of fear? I shouldn't be like this, Ms. Val is my friend, she won't hurt me because of this, right?

Minutes passed and Ms. Val let out a sigh. It was a small sigh, I couldn't tell if it was a sigh of relief of anger. Whatever sigh it was, I readied myself for what was about to happen to me. Call me overreacting for thinking like this, for thinking this much, but what am I supposed to think? I painted the whole house with the wrong color which I chose! What's not to worry about that mess up?

As I was thinking of what Ms. Val will do to me, Ms. Val suddenly started laughing. I was surprised by her sudden laughter. Or is this one of those hallucinations? Whatever it is, I don't know what's happening.

"Y-you're not mad?" I asked as I hesitated.

"Well, getting mad won't get me anywhere kid. If I got mad at you then that will hurt your feelings, and knowing that I hurt your feelings makes me hurt mine. You get what I mean?"

I just stared at Ms. Val, trying to process the thing she said. Ms. Val let out a little laugh as she ruffled my hair, making my glasses lose position. "Don't worry kid, I'm not mad at you or anything. Besides, I'm learning to like the color you chose."

"You're learning to like it?"

"Yup, I learned to like you." Ms. Val said as she entered the house.

"Learned to like me? Hey, what does that mean?"

Ms. Val just laughed and sat next to Cathy, closing her eyes and falling asleep. Well, I'm glad nothing bad happened, I thought that Ms. Val would kill me or something.

I smiled as I looked at the newly renovated house. "Well, we did it, we finally finished renovating. We now just need to wait for the customers to come in."
