Blueth Mendoza's POV
"Are you sure you're not a witch? Because in my book, only witches can do the things you've been doing."
"Okay kid, for what seems to be like the millionth time, no, I am not a witch. And it is very rude calling people witches."
"Well, I'm just checking, you might be one."
"Yeah well, I am not. Anyway, let's get going in handing out these flyers. They won't hand themselves out you know. Cathy, watch the house while me and Blueth hand out these flyers, if I come back and see the house upside down, it's the attic for you missy! Bye, I love you!"
Ms. Val said as Cathy just rolled her eyes at Ms. Val. Ms. Val didn't pay much attention to the gesture Cathy did as she was used to it.
"You go that way, I'll go this way. That way, we can cover more ground." Ms. Val said as she gave me half of the flyers. "Be safe kid, I don't want your parents suing me or something if they find out you got hurt under my care." Ms. Val said as she smiled at me, she then began walking away. Well, guess I'm going this way then. Since Ms. Val went left, I'm going right.
I started making my way towards the market since that's where the direction I took will lead me and started handing out flyers.
"Good morning sir, have you heard about the proofreading services? We offer proofreading services if it wasn't obvious yet. We help out in making your story better than ever, for a fair price I mean." "Hello there ma'am, may I tell you about the proofreading services?" "You there, the girl with the ponytail!"
I kept approaching strangers as I kept promoting the proofreading services and giving out flyers. I am having mixed emotions about this. I am excited because I get to talk to other people and there's a chance that customers will come in like a tidal wave to the house asking for us to proofread their stories. And there's this feeling of anxiety, I am an outgoing person but not that much, I still get shy and such, I feel like I'm wasting their time talking about things they don't know. Well, I can't complain, I am doing a job after all. I kept approaching other people and giving them flyers and telling them about the proofreading service we are offering. This went on for about a few minutes until I felt tired. I sat down on the ground as I leaned against a wall, letting out a sigh.
I looked at the flyers I was carrying and started counting them. "I still have a few flyers to give around. I hope all this hard work will be worth it, if not, then we'll try again tomorrow."
I let out another sigh as I looked around. As I was looking around, I saw Rachelle carrying a basket of some sort. I don't know why but my face started lighting up when I saw her face. I smiled and started walking towards her. "Hey, Rachelle!" I yelled as I waved at her.
She looked at me and she gave me a small smile. "Blueth, what are you doing here?"
"I should be the one asking you that question Ms. Itemfinder." I said as I smiled.
Rachelle suddenly freaked out and started covering my mouth. "Shhhh!" She said as she kept covering my mouth. The people in the market started looking at us one by one. Rachelle still had this freaked out expression plastered on her face. She then grabbed my arm and started dragging me to an alley.
"Rachelle? What's wrong? Did I do something wrong?" I asked as I looked at Rachelle, she was really freaking out. I tried calming her down but she kept freaking out.
"Blueth, don't call me like that in public, item finders are at the top of the wanted lists now. Ever since they set out an order against scavengers, item finders also found their way to the wanted list."
I was shocked as Rachelle told me the reason why she was freaking out so badly.
"I-I'm sorry, I-I didn't know."
Rachelle let out a sigh as she looked around. "It's okay Blueth, I think people didn't hear you earlier. They were just looking at the scene we started earlier."
"That's good to hear. I should really start thinking about the words which I let out from my mouth. Anyway, what were you doing in the market? Do you have another mission in finding stolen and lost items?"
Rachelle gave out a little giggle as she picked up her basket. "No, I was actually in the market, I was buying food stocks for my house."
"Well that explains a lot, I was wondering why you weren't wearing your all-black clothes."
"All black clothes?" She asked as she looked at me confused. But she suddenly turned her confused look into a smile. "Oh, my outfit the other day, no, I wear that when I receive a task, telling me to go look and retrieve lost and/or stolen items."
"I see, well now I know why I got so happy when I saw your face, your outfit is beaming with happy feelings."
"Huh? Oh, the color of it. You're right, outfits do change the way you see someone. And also, outfits change the mood of the one wearing them, that's what I think anyway."
Rachelle was wearing this pinkish short dress with a short jacket on top of it. Some will say it's a fashion nightmare, but I am loving it.
I smiled as I gave a nod to what Rachelle said. "You're right, when I first saw you wearing an all-black, I was intimidated by you, you were so serious and it felt like you could make a monster bow in front of you. But seeing you in this outfit, it makes it feel so much easier to approach you and talk to you."
Rachelle smiled as she gave a little twirl. "You like them? I can make you borrow one of my clothes sometimes if you like. They are all the same so I don't mind missing one."
"Then I'll make sure to give you a call whenever I am needing a pair of nice clothes." I said as I smiled at her.
She smiled back and waved goodbye. "I need to get going, I still have lots of things to buy for my house. I'll see you around Blueth, sorry for dragging you to a back alley."
I smiled at her and told her that it's fine. And with that, she started walking away. "Well, I guess I should return home then." I said and started walking home.
I reached the house and the doors were locked. I looked through the window and I saw Cathy sleeping. I can wake her up, but she's so cute, there is no way I can bring myself into waking her up. Well, guess I'll just wait for Ms. Val.
I sat down on the stairs of the house as I waited, minutes passed by and Ms. Val arrived. "Well, you're here early, did you gave out all of the flyers?"
"Oh, Ms. Val, yes, I gave out every single fl---" I stopped talking as I realized something. "GAAAH!!! The flyers!!! I forgot I left them on a porch somewhere! Don't worry Ms. Val! I'll get them and hand them out as fast as I can!"
"Ah, don't worry about them kid, because." I looked at Ms. Val as she paused for a minute, making me wonder what she's going to say. Ms. Val smiled at me as she showed me a book. "Ta-da! Someone asked me to proofread their book! So, don't worry kid, our efforts are not going to go to waste. Now come on, let's get this book proofread." Ms. Val said as she handed me the book.
I smiled as I looked at Ms. Val. I'm happy seeing Ms. Val like this, her being so happy that she got a person to proofread their book. It's easy to make Ms. Val so happy.
"What the? Locked? CATHY!!!"
