Chapter Fourteen

Blueth Mendoza's POV

"No.... That's not true.... It.... It can't be..., right? No! Stay away from me! Go away! AAAAAHHHHHH!" I screamed as I woke up all out of breath. A dream? But it felt so real. What was that all about? I looked around and I saw that I was lying down on the couch, I saw Ms. Val standing on top of the table, she must've finished proofreading a book.

"Bad dream kiddo?" Ms. Val sad as she was arranging the stacks of books.

"I.... I don't know." I said as I tried to think about the dream I had. Ms. Val sat beside me on the couch and smiled at me.

"You want to talk about it? What's it about?" Is it about a crush you have? Don't worry, I won't tell your parents."

"I can't remember. And no, it's not about a crush, I don't even have a crush."

"Oh yeah? What about that Rachelle I've been seeing you around lately? She seems cute."

"What? No, I am not crushing on her!"

"Brain says no, heart says yes kiddo. Also, you're blushing."

My eyes grew wide as Ms. Val kept on teasing me about me having a crush on Rachelle. I do not! Have a crush on her, we're just friends.

"No, I don't! Anyway, the dream I had was strange, it isn't like my normal dreams."

"I'm all ears kid, let me know everything you want me to know."

I let out a sigh as I try to remember the dream I had. "Well, I can't really describe it because I don't know what dream I had. But all I know is, I found out something and I don't want to believe it. I kept running away from it, the next thing I know, I woke up. What's that dream about?" I looked at Ms. Val as I kept wondering if my dream meant something or not.

"Well, I'm not a dream reader, but I think there are questions in your head and you don't want to know the answers."

"You really think so? Is that why I had that dream?" I look at Ms. Val with this expression filled with confusion, a face that seeks answers to unanswered questions.

"I'm not really sure kiddo. Hey Cathy? What do you think?"

Ms. Val and I looked over at Cathy and she was sleeping peacefully on top of a book. Upon seeing her, Ms. Val had this annoyed expression on her face. "If I didn't love her, Cathy would be sleeping in the alleys by now."

I let out a giggle as I look at Ms. Val with her expression. "The two of you are a perfect pair you know. It's like you will be nothing if Cathy wasn't around, I feel like the atmosphere would be gloomy if Cathy isn't here with you."

"Hey, you watch your mouth kid. I can be exciting even without Cathy, but yeah, without her I am incomplete, I'm just a half of a moon, literally and figuratively."

"Literally? What do you mean by that?"

Ms. Val ruffled my hair as she gave a small chuckle. "You'll know when you'll know kiddo. Geez, I hope me not telling you what you want to know isn't connected to the dreams you've been having lately."

"But what if they are? So, you should tell me now before something bad happens because of the dreams I'm having!"

"That won't happen, and if it does, Ms. Val will be here to save you from the bad things."

"Awe, but I really want to know, like, really, really want to know."

Ms. Val gave a smile as she stood up and started walking towards the pile of books. "Be patient kiddo, I'll tell you what you want to know when you are ready. Oh, and by the way, Blueth? Your parents came by earlier and brought you your favorite books. I was going to wake you up but when they saw that you were still asleep, they told me that it's okay." Ms. Val then pointed at the stack of books besides the couch I was sitting on. "You're quite a bookworm kiddo, those are a lot of books."

I giggled as I untied the knot on the stack of books my parents brought for me. When Ms. Val said that my parents brought my favorite stories, she wasn't kidding. They really did bring them. I have 5 favorite stories, they were my favorites because I received them from my parents. The books are novels and they are all connected, and by connected, I mean they are a series. It's about a girl trapped in another world and tries her best to return to her own world, but along the way, she meets new friends which help her return to her world.

Anyway, you may be wondering why I woke up on the couch in Ms. Val's place and why my parents brought my favorite books here. It's not because I got kicked out of my house, no.

The reason why I am here at Ms. Val's house is that my parents will be going on a two- or three-month business trip. They said that the plan was to bring me along with them, but they found out that kids my age are not allowed to come. I don't see what's the problem with that! I am a 16-year-old girl! I can manage myself! Probably.

Anyway, since we have no relatives in the town, my parents decided that I should stay with Ms. Val instead, well, if it was okay with Ms. Val. I couldn't stop smiling when my parents told me that they will leave me in the caring arms of Ms. Val.

When my parents went to the house, they knew right away that I would be in good hands. When they told Ms. Val that they will leave me with her, she was more than happy. She was more excited than I was.

To make the long story short, my parents have this two- to three-month business meeting, who knows how long, in another place and they left me under the arms of Ms. Val. Ms. Val agreed and here we are!

Anyway, I was flipping through the books and I saw this invitation of some sort. I took a closer inspection of it and I found out to what the invitation was for.
