Chapter Eighteen

Blueth Mendoza's POV

"Blueth? Hurry up in there, I need to take a picture of you in your gown before you go to your mid-year-end prom thing."

"Do I really have to wear this? It's so uncomfortable and itchy" I whined as I kept moving the dress around my body, trying to make it sit comfortably. Time flew by fast, it seems like yesterday was the day where me and Ms. Val came hunting for this dress, where in reality it's already been a few weeks now.

"You'll learn to love it kiddo. Now, come out and let me see that beautiful dress on a beautiful person!"

I took deep breathes as I tried to not think about the itchiness the dress was giving me. I walked out of the bathroom and I showed Ms. Val the dress we bought. It was a plain red silky off-shoulder dress, there was nothing special about it. It's not like I'm complaining about the dress or anything, I love it even though it gives me itches, I'm just describing what it looks like.

"I don't know what you're complaining about, that dress looks so cute on you." Ms. Val said as she took pictures without telling me. Those pictures are going to be me with silly faces, I can tell.

"I'm not complaining about how it looks, because it looks cute, what I'm complaining about is how it itches and how uncomfortable it is while wearing it!"

"You'll get used to the itching kid, now turn around so I can see it."

"Urgh." I whined as I gave the dress a turn, showing Ms. Val how it looks on me.

"Oh stop whining already, this will just be only for a night. Now, give me a pose while I take a picture of you."

I let out a sigh as I started doing poses for Ms. Val as she started taking photos of me in the dress. "This will be going straight into frames."

After Ms. Val took pictures of me, I took a look at the time and it was nearly time for the prom to start. I said goodbye to Ms. Val and Cathy and started walking out the door. Well, before I walked out, I gave Cathy some love and affection. It's been a part of my life to give Cathy some love before leaving the house, I've grown into it so now I can't stop doing it.

"Do you want me and Cathy to drop you off the venue for the prom?"

"Nah, it's okay. I can walk there on my own. Besides, you and Cathy have been proofreading books all day, so you guys need to take some rest."

"What do you mean rest? I feel like a teen!" Ms. Val said as she accidentally knocked over a flower pot due to her being tired.

"Don't deny it, Ms. Val, I can tell your face is screaming for some shut-eye. Besides, you don't have a car, so how can you drop me off?"

"A car, who needs a car when you can walk?"

"Get some sleep, Ms. Val, I'll be back later after the prom."

"Let us drop you off kiddo."

"Bye, Ms. Val." I said as I closed the door behind me very slowly.

"Heh, she's growing up into a fine woman. Alright, Cathy, get off the couch, it's my turn to lay down on it." I smiled as I heard Ms. Val.

Well, off to the prom venue, I guess. I started walking and made my way to the venue. It wasn't really that long of a walk to get there, maybe just around 13 to 15 minutes of walking? Either way, I made it to the venue.

The prom was held in our school stadium. The school stadium was not too big nor was it too small, it was just the right size. Imagine two indoor basketball courts side by side. That's how big it is, actually saying it now does make it big, anyway.

I went inside and members of the school student officers welcomed me, they told me to write my name on the student list so I won't be counted as absent during the prom. After I wrote my name, they gave me a number, I was confused as to what the number was for so I asked them.

"Uhmm, excuse me. What's this number for?"

"Ah, that number is for the end of the prom. Since the prom got held in February, and we all know that February is the month of love, we planned that students will be given a random number at the start of the prom and before the prom ends, students need to find the other half of the number they receive."

"How does that work?" I asked as I look at the number they gave me, it was the number 14. The numbers were written on pieces of paper in the shape of half hearts.

"Well, as you can seem, the numbers are written on half hearts, which means that you have to look for the other half of your number. The number you have is only a piece of a whole. As much as I want to explain it further, I'm afraid that I might give you a hint of who you'll look for. Wait until the end of the prom, okay?"

I smiled as I thank the student officers and went inside to find a perfect seat. We were told to sit on the bleachers of the stadium because they didn't place any chairs on the court so we don't need to move any chairs from our classrooms to the stadium.

I sat on the corner, besides the railings of the bleachers. This side of the bleachers have always been a favorite of mine, I don't know why though. Maybe because I feel comfortable? I don't know, I just like the feeling of me touching the cold railings of the bleacher. You can call me weird for liking that, but I will not be ashamed of it! I like the cold railings touching my arm!

I sat around as I waited for the prom to start. Only half of the students are here, we are still waiting for the other half of the students. While waiting, a sudden thought came to mind. "Oh yeah, I forgot that Rachelle also received an invitation for the prom. Where is that little rascal?" I said to myself as I started looking for her face.

I looked around, hoping to see her familiar face, but I couldn't find her. Maybe she's still getting ready? I could go outside the stadium and go looking for her, but who am I kidding. I don't even know where she lives. Well, there's nothing I can do even if I wanted to do something. I just sat down as I kept waiting for her to enter the stadium doors. Nothing to do but wait.
