Chapter Twenty Seven

Blueth Mendoza's POV

"Are you ready to go on another proofreading adventure kid?" Ms. Val said as she stood on top of the table. I looked at her as I was scratching Cathy.

"Didn't we just finished proofreading that one?" I said as I pointed at the book which was on top of the counter. Ms. Val looked at me with one of her eyebrows raised.

"Blueth, if we only do one story a day then we will drown in books. Now stop your procrastinating and grab a book and get your lazy bum up here and starts proofreading! Unless you want me to fire you, that'll be fine by me."

My eyes widened as I heard Ms. Val say that she'll fire me. Oh no she won't, this job is the best job I ever had! Technically it's the only job I had, but still! It is the most fun and exciting job I had! Going inside books and experiencing the story head on! I am not going to lose this job! "Say no more Ms. Val!"

I quickly stood up and grabbed a book, opened it, and placed it on top of the big book.

"You ready for another adventure kiddo?"

"Oh, I was born ready Ms. Val."

Ms. Val let out a laugh and both books started shining and we were off to another proofreading adventure. The light from the book began shining brighter as it encased us, transporting us inside the book.

Not long, the light shining bright around us started fading and we began seeing new surroundings. We are now inside the book.

"Ahh, something new! Boy, the setting in this book is magnificent. It's way better than that icky love story we proofread earlier." Ms. Val said as she did some stretches. "Say, Blueth? What's the title of this book?"

I took a minute to think about what book I grabbed, but I was in a hurry that I just grabbed a random book, I didn't check what title it was. "Well, to tell you the truth Ms. Val, I don't know. I don't know if it was the adrenaline I felt earlier when you said that you'll fire me or something, but I was in a hurry and just grabbed a random book."

"Well, whatever book it is that you grabbed, it has this medieval setting. And base on all of the books I proofread which have the same medieval setting, we will see some action! And if we're lucky, we'll see some dragon fighting! Now come on, let's get a move on so we can find the Mistakes on this book."

I smiled as I began following Ms, Val. As I was following Ms. Val, I saw something with the corner of my eye, someone, familiar. I looked over to where I saw it, but no one was there. It must have been my imagination or something. I shook off the thought from my mind and I kept following Ms. Val.

"So, where should we look for the Mistake?" I asked Ms. Val while I tied my hair into a neat bun.

"I don't know, Mistakes could be anywhere, they can be hiding in any of the story's parts. It can either be hiding in the climax, rising action, or any of the parts. Finding it is the real tricky part, so keep your eyes peeled for any shadow-like figures."

"Will do Ms. Val!"

Ms. Val and I then began walking around the whole story but we couldn't find any single Mistake. We were walking for a very long time now and yet, we haven't encountered a single one!

"We've been walking for hours now! Where could that Mistake be hiding!" I screamed out of frustration. I can't help it if I'm starting to sound like I'm whining, we've been searching for so long now and we still got nothing!

"Hmm, seeing that we've been searching for a long time now and yet not seeing a single Mistake. That can only mean that the Mistakes are smidgets."

I looked at Ms. Val and asked what smidgets are. "What are smidgets?"

"Smidgets are the smallest kind of Mistakes kiddo. Meaning that it'll make it hard for us in finding them. They could be hiding under rocks in the settings. We need to turn every rock we come across."

"But, that sounds so much work!"

"You can't complain kid, you can't expect a job to be so easy. Now, let's split up so we can cover more ground. Have fun looking kid!" Ms. Val said as she started walking away.

"Wait, what will I do if I find it!?"

"Just throw the vial, like we did last time. Make them touch the ground with their back and it'll be easy capturing from there." Ms. Val said as she turned around a corner.

Right, those Mistakes won't find themselves.

I began looking around, looking under rocks, inside trees, everywhere, but still nothing. While looking for the Mistake, I saw something in the corner of my eye again, something, no, someone familiar. I looked towards the direction of where I saw the figure, and with a glimpse, I saw her. But it can't be, can it? Me and Ms. Val are the only ones who went inside the book. I must be having hallucinations or something. But something doesn't feel right, maybe she just looks like her?

I continued my search for the Mistake but I keep losing focus. I can't search in peace. I have to see if that's really Rachelle.

I stopped looking for the Mistake and started walking towards the direction I saw Rachelle running. Ms. Val wouldn't mind me solving a mystery, right? Besides, I'll be quick, I'll just take a little peek and see that I was just seeing things and that the person I saw wasn't really Rachelle and just a character of the story which looks like her, that's all.

As I reached the corner, I hid against a house and peaked at the corner. My eyes grew wide as I saw her. It is her! It's Rachelle! But wait, what's she doing here? Well, whatever reason it is, she's here! That means I have someone to help me look for the Mistake. It's not like I don't like Ms. Val as my proofreading buddy or anything, it's just, what's wrong with an extra helping hand, right? Don't tell Ms. Val I prefer Rachelle as my proofreading buddy over her.

My face started glowing with excitement as I ran towards her, my arms raised as I started calling her name. She doesn't hear me so I kept calling for her name.

I stopped running towards her when I noticed that she was talking with someone. I hid behind a tree near her to see who it is that she's talking to. My eyes grew wide as I saw the person she was talking to. And that's when I realized something.

"Oh no."
