Blueth Mendoza's POV
"I'm really sorry we can't come to the family day at your school honey. I know we promised you that we won't miss it, but something came up and we won't be coming home for another month. We're really sorry sweetie, we'll make it up to you when we get back, we promise, okay?"
"It's okay mom, I understand."
"Oh, I hope my baby is not mad at us."
I let out a giggle as I heard my mom. I'm on the phone with my mom, she was checking up on me, asking me if I was doing okay. She also told me that they won't be able to come home for this year's family day at our school because of their work in another country. I felt sad when I heard that my parents won't be able to come home, growing up, I had my parents accompany me without school family day event, this will be the first year that my parents won't be able to accompany me.
"I'm not mad at you guys, I know that you guys are busy and all. And why would I be mad at you guys? I know that everything you are doing is for me, you guys have made many sacrifices for me, and I am thankful for that."
"Awe, I want to hug you so tight! Hm? What's that dear? Ah, okay, okay. I'll tell her. Blueth? Honey? Your papa wants to talk to you." My mom said on the other end of the call as I heard her hand the phone to my dad.
"Hi, bud? How are you? I hope you're staying out of trouble, and I hope you're not giving your boss a tough time taking care of you. And also, you better not be seeing any boys while we are away. You know the rules young lady, no boys until you are at the right age."
I laughed as I heard my dad tease me of being hard to watch over, which is true by the way, I can be a little hard-headed sometimes.
"Don't worry Dad, I'm not giving her a tough time watching me. And of course, I'm not seeing any boys, I remember the rules dad. I don't want to break the rules."
I looked over to where Ms. Val was standing and I saw her with one of her eyebrows raised and she has this smile on her face. I looked at her with an expression asking her what she's looking with that expression of hers.
She then waved her finger in the air and a whiteboard and marker appeared. She then started writing something, I pay close attention to what she's writing as I take a sip from my milk.
She finished writing and she showed me what it is that she wrote. My eyes grew wide as I read the words she wrote.
She's not dating any guys, she's dating girls
I spit the milk out of my nose after reading what Ms. Val wrote on the whiteboard. Ms. Val laughed as I spit the milk right through my nose. I grabbed paper towels and placed them on top of the milk I spit out.
"Oh? You okay bud?" My dad asked, he must've heard me spitting out the milk.
"Yeah, yeah, I'm fine dad. Just, something came up to me and I started laughing."
"Oh, sounds like you're having a fun time working."
"Uh-huh, I'm having a great time working here." I looked at Ms. Val and started giving her an expression that screams, 'Why did you do that!?'
Ms. Val was still laughing, rolling on the ground. "Does she always laugh like this?" I asked Cathy who was sitting near Ms. Val.
"Heh, sometimes worst."
"Well, we need to go now bud, take care of yourself okay? We promise that we'll make it up to you when we get home. Bye now, we love you."
"I will. Take care you two. I love you too."
My parents then ended the call. I smiled as I placed my phone on top of the table, grabbing some paper towels so I can wipe my nose. Gah! My nose still hurts from spitting milk through it!
"Oh, I haven't had a laugh like that in ages." Ms. Val said as she stood up, wiping away the tears she got from laughing.
"Why would you do that!?" I asked as I looked at Ms. Val with an irritated look. "I could have died from spitting the milk through my nose!" I may sound like I'm overreacting, but it could happen! You could die from that or something.
"But hey, you're still alive so." Ms. Val said as she let out a snort-laugh.
"Yeah, but still, it could've ended in a bad way."
Ms. Val sat beside me as she started waving her finger, making things float all over the place. I looked at the floating cups and utensils as I started drinking my milk, well, what was left of it anyway.
"What are you doing?" I asked as I placed down my mug which has a little milk left.
"I'm making coffee, what else does it look like I'm doing?" Ms. Val said as a cup of hot water floated towards her. Ingredients to make coffee then started floating inside the cup of hot water one by one. Then, coffee was made. The cup then floated gently onto Ms. Val's hands. Ms. Val gave the coffee a little sniff as she let out a satisfied sigh. "Ah, just how I like it."
"You do know that you can make coffee without making things float right?"
"Why do something the hard way when you can do it the easy way?" Ms. Val said as she took a sip from her coffee.
"Well, it's dangerous and the hot water in the cup might spill and land on an unsuspecting victim, for example, Cathy."
"That won't happen."
"It might though."
Ms. Val rolled her eyes as she took another sip from her coffee. "So, your school's family day is coming up?"
"Uh-huh."
"So, who will go with you? Hearing from your call with your parents, it sounds like they won't make it."
"They won't, that's when you'll come in."
Ms. Val suddenly spits out her coffee from her nose as she looked at me with her eyes wide.
"Ha! That's how that felt!"
"Agh! Did you do that on purpose or something!?" Ms. Val said as she grabbed paper towels and started wiping her nose.
"No, to be honest, I didn't know that you will spit your coffee through your nose. I didn't even plan on surprising you like that. I didn't even know that you'll be surprised by that."
"Don't scare me like that Blueth."
"Well, I didn't know that you'll get so easily scared by that. Anyway, you'll be the one who will go with me to my school's family day."
"Why me? Don't you have anyone else to come with you?"
"Actually, no. All of my relatives live far away from here."
"I don't have a choice but to agree, do I?"
"Nope, no you don't"
Ms. Val let out a sigh as she started waving her fingers and a mop suddenly started mopping the coffee which was on the ground.
"Won't your parents get upset when they find out that your boss will be the one who will come with you for the family event thing?"
"They won't, I already called them last night and told them that if they won't make it for the family day, you'll be the one who will come with me."
"Well if that's settled, then I'll go with you."
"Yes! Thank you, Ms. Val!" I said as I looked at her.
"Don't mention it, kid."
My attention shifted from Ms. Val towards the broom which was mopping by itself. I was about to ask Ms. Val if she was a witch or not, but she beat me to it.
"No Blueth, I am not a witch."
