They found us

Pov.Asteria

Emily and I woke up when Bloodstar stretched her wings. We instantly rolled over, trying to cover our eyes.

"Bloodstar," I mumbled, reaching for her wing, trying to cover us once again. I could hear her yawning in response. I heard her wing move, and I hoped she would drop her wing over us, but instead, she put her wing under us, instantly making us stand up.

I whined in reply to her action, trying to rub the sleep out of my eyes. I turned to look at Emily, and she had lied down once again face down. I chuckled at her action. I kneeled beside her ear and screamed.

"Emily, get up!" She instantly was up and shot me a glare.

Suddenly our stomachs growled even though Bloodstar's was the loudest. Eventually, we walked back to the castle while Bloodstar flew there. That morning I thanked the Gods because I was lucky enough to pass by without a kid grabbing my leg.

I poked at my breakfast while Emily devoured hers. I stared at her in surprise. How could a body so small fit so much food? I ate half of what she was eating.

"Emily, no one is taking your food," I mumbled, then pulled her to sit up straight and threw a napkin in her lap. "You need to act like a lady." I contemplated my words for a second, and I sounded just like my mother.

"Never mind, just eat slow, or you'll get sick," I retracted my words.

Suddenly I felt the hairs in the back of my neck stand up. Something is coming, and it's coming fast. I looked out the crystal windows, they found us. "Emily, let's go," I said, pulling her out of her chair towards the doors.

"WHAT?!" she whined, reaching out for her food.

"They have found us," I informed her. That seemed to make her forget the food. She even started walking faster with me. We reached the stairs and looked up. Could she not have an elevator?

We started running, and by the second level, I already seemed to be out of breath. I seriously need to work on my cardio. Ten minutes later, we reached our door, and I was almost hyperventilating.

I could hear Emily gasping for air, matching my breaths. Okay, Asteria focus, you need to focus. I pushed the doors open and walked inside the room. I kneeled and reached under the bed, pulling out my sword and duffle bag. Emily was kneeling as well, getting her backpack.

I looked out the window, and they were getting close. I walked outside into the balcony and looked down. I guess we will have to jump. "Emily, get on my back," I said, looking at her straight in the eyes. She rapidly shook her head. "Emily, is that or they capture us, and you know what that means, you die, and I won't be able to see the light for the rest of my days."

Just when Emily was about to get on my back, we heard Bloodstar roar. Emily giggled and started jumping in the spot, the cause of excitement. Her hair bounced with her movements. Bloodstar landed in front of us, and I looked for the bridle. And It was not there.

"I don't have the bridle," I said, looking at them in panic.

"A, we don't have time," Em said, walking closer to Bloodstar and pulling me with her. I sighed in defeat and threw Emily on top of Bloodstar. I jumped right after her.

"Try to stay low," I said to Bloodstar. "Emily, don't do anything dangerous, or I'll tie you down."

"I guess you'll meet your mate sooner than you expected," I whispered in Emily's ear.

Bloodstar flew up, and from up there, I could see the guards knocking into the castle doors. I furrowed my eyebrow in confusion. Why did they send so many guards? I was not that dangerous, and Emily was harmless.

"Emily down," I said, pushing her down with me.

We flew over the town unnoticed. I left out a breath in relief once we were out of the population. I sat up straight and reached for the map.

"Bloodstar, we'll need to wait until night to follow the R-Leporis," I explained. "We can until sundown in the Bourney forest."

Oh no, here we go again. This time, I grabbed Emily and pushed her down with me. Thank the Gods this time I didn't fall off.

Once we landed, I slid down Bloodstar's wing and then moved on to help Emily down. I unfolded the map and displayed it on the forest floor.

"Okay, so first vampire realm, and if he is not there, we will move in into the..." I cleared my throat slightly. "Dark Realm."

She looked down in shame. Why was she ashamed? A mate is the most sacred thing in the universe. "No matter who your mate is, nothing will change. The Gods always give us a mate for a reason." I got up and pulled her towards my chest. "From now on, I'm your protector, and if someone hurts you, no matter who it is, I will kill them."

"Okay, first we will stop at Afanas, then move on to Abel, to go to Abaddon, and finish up with Boruta," I explained while pointing to each place mentioned.

"If he is not in there, then we will move on to Amymone Spring, in there it is a cave called Lerna it is an entry to the underworld bad thing is filled with hydras," at the mention of hydras, Bloodstar growled. "Your scent will hopefully draw your mate out."

"If your scent doesn't draw him out, there the problems will come. We will have to go in deeper," I explained while cringing. "Hopefully, your mate will come to the rescue."

I rolled the map back into my bag and laid down with my hands behind my neck. "Try to sleep until the sun comes down."
