What the FUCK was that?

Pov.Asteria

I could see Emily's desperate face as we almost finished searching all around the city. I gave her an apologetic look as she sat down an alley, now waiting for the sun to rise. I played with my hands, sitting there in the uncomfortable silence.

"A," Emily whispered. "I can feel he is not here," she murmured, bowing her head in defeat. Just when I was about to answer, I felt like I was being burned alive. I bit my lip and clawed my nails in my knees. I didn't want to worry Emily. I knew the pain was coming from the vampire bite.

"Let's just wait until sunrise," I said through gritted teeth. She just nodded, not bothering to turn around to look at me.

We repeated the same pattern with the sun up but, unfortunately, her mate was not there. I could see her dragging as we walked back to Bloodstar, but before I knew it, we were surrounded.

I could hear Bloodstar roaring in the distance. I pushed Emily behind me, secured my hoodie, and took out my sword. I had to handle the sword with my left hand because my right-hand was paralyzed cause of the vampire venom. It was my own body trying to fend itself. I needed to get to the antivenom and fast. I didn't know what would happen to my body.

"We don't want trouble," I whispered, but not losing my stance.

"That isn't what it looked like when we found a guard's ashes," one of the guards said in a defiant position.

Emily looked shocked at the guard's words. "He attacked me first, and I just defended myself."

I knew my words didn't matter. They would attack anyways. I tried to keep Emily at a safe distance. "Don't intervene," I whispered to Emily.

This would be a tough fight. I was using my non-dominant hand. That was a huge advantage for them and a weakness for me.

I tightened my grip on the sword and waited for them to make the first move. I need to hurry as well because I need to help Bloodstar.

From the corner of my eye, I could see a guy swinging his sword. If I didn't have good reflexes, I would have missed him. I instantly got into action.

I swung my sword, instantly cutting his head, his limp body falling at my feet. I could see the surprised looks on the other vampire's faces. I smirked in realization they didn't think I was a threat.

Other Vampires moved to attack. It was like my body went into survival and protector mode. I moved at super-speed, kicking one of them in the abdomen sending him flying as far away. One of them swung his sword to try and cut my head but bent my back, avoiding the sharp sword. I instantly cut off the next guy's legs. Turning around to stab the other guy in his back before he reached Emily. I kicked the guy running towards my left side. I tried avoiding any of them grabbing my right arm.

I could still see the guy whose legs I had cut. He was trying to claw away. I swiftly moved the sword and stabbed him in the back, reaching his heart.

I turned around to check on Emily when someone grabbed my injured arm. I left out a hiss in pain. Suddenly I felt like I was losing control, but I didn't feel weak, on the contrary, I felt stronger than ever before.

Everything seemed to happen so fast. I knew I killed that vampire and more on my way to Bloodstar dragging Emily with me. I knew she was scared, but that didn't affect me. The thing is that I didn't touch them. They seemed to just fall dead.

I regained consciousness once I drank the antivenom for the vampire bite. I knew it was a smart idea to bring all those potions.

That's when all that I had done seemed to drop on me. I covered my mouth, trying to cover my sobs.

"Oh my Gods," I whispered. "Oh, my Gods! What have I done?" I shouted, my tears running down my cheeks nonstop. "What the FUCK was that!?" I exclaimed.

Not paying attention, I didn't see Emily moving my way until she grabbed my cheeks.

"Hey, everything will be okay," she assured while cleaning my wet cheeks with her thumbs. I nodded, whipping my eyes off any sign I had been crying. I cleared my throat, not wanting my voice to crack.

"Okay, we move on to Plan B," I informed.

I gave the duffel bag to Bloodstar and lifted Emily into her back. Then myself, moving on to jump on top of her.

"Fly away, towards the south as far as you can, we'll rest there until the sun comes down," I said.

I wanted to stop there for many reasons. 1. I need to figure out my new powers in some way. 2. I need to give time to Emily for the information on who her mate might be. 3. Bloodstar needs to hunt. 4. We need to figure out how the fuck to proceed.
