Thexan lay in bed, the ships low thrum lulling him to stay calm. With nothing but him and his thoughts, Thexan couldn't help but think back to that moment in front of his father.
Death
A concept most people fear, Thexan was always somewhat prepared for it, being a soldier comes with some danger after all.
However, Thexan did fear death. Don't miss understand, Thexan didn't fear death in itself. No, death is a natural part of life after all. What Thexan did fear, was dying early.
Up until now he had no time to think on the issue, heh. Lies, Thexan had plenty of time, times where he was left alone. Yet he avoided the subject like the plague.
But now, there was no choice, he had to face his death, come to terms with it.
Death is no easy deal, especially since no one knows what comes after. Yet Thexan did, he did know what comes after, well... at least for him. Though Thexan had encountered force ghosts, they were rather limited. The sith of Korriban, in a last ditch attempt to deny their own mortality, tethered themselves to their holocrons. Yeah, Thexan was happy he did not have to do that.
Thexan's thoughts inevitably went to his brother, his best friend. So enamored, with their father, such craving for his approval. Thexan was the same, until he realized their father could care less. So he did the same, Thexan stopped caring about his fathers approval.
But Arcann, couldn't let it go. And in the end both he and Thexan suffered. Arcann lost his arm, all in the name of pleasing their father, who still did not care. And Thexan who gave his life trying to ensure Arcann didn't do anything he would regret.
Thexan couldn't bare to fight his brother, which unfortunately caused his demise. Thexan loved his family. Realizing that his father couldn't be pleased, he sought instead love, from his sister, his mother and his brother. Thexan tried as hard as he could to make his family happy. Listened to his brothers rants about their father, gave his sister hope in her isolation. But most importantly, he promised his mother he would protect his siblings.
And he failed, his death was proof of that.
Crying softly for a few hours was all Thexan could do. He was already resolved to live on, as none of his siblings would want him to die. Even Arcann, especially Arcann. However now at this moment, it was time to grieve. For the Life he gave, for the mistakes he made, and for the unknown fate of his family.
Family, the one thing his father did not have.
