Chapter 9

I paced around my apartment unpacking boxes angrily. Maybe it was the light playing tricks on me. Lucian could have been closer than he seemed. I could always dress up and tell him I was ready for our date. But what if I wasn't imagining things. I knew I wasn't crazy. Something was up. Whether that meant the lighting or Lucian himself. I heard my phone buzz. I rushed into my bedroom. I ove into my bed and grabbed for my phone. {Hey it's Lucian. Devon gave me your number.}

I snorted. Of course the little shit did. What should I say back? {Am I crazy?} I texted. I followed the text with another. {I still want to go out with u} I sighed. What if he still wanted to go out with me? Would I say yes or no? Was I seeing things? Was I crazy? For the ninth time in my life I decided to take a risk.

{We can go out tomorrow. . . If you want. . .} I texted. He responded immediately. {Of course I want} I found a stupid grin on my face. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't get it off my face. So I let it stay. {So where will you be taking me???} I texted. I waited anxiously for his reply. I wasn't a person for high class dinnery, but I wanted to dress appropriately for the occasion.

{Where do you want to go} Popped up on the screen. He was letting me pick?! I just got here. I didn't know what was in the area. Did that mean I had to pay? I mean that wasn't a problem, but how much money did he want to spend? Someone started banging my door down. I groaned and got up. I traveled up the hall, through the kitchen, and to my front door.

"Everett stop forgetting your. . .Inayah!" EvaLyn and Everett stood at the other side. "Why the fuck were you trying to break my door? I was having a moment of pure happiness." I growled. EvaLyn giggled. It really was no joke. "Hey beautiful. Let us in." Everett whined. I sighed and opened the door wider to let them through. "You look happy what happened?" Everett asked plopping down on my couch. "Why can't I just be happy?" I growled. They looked at me with big pleading eyes. "Okay fine. Someone asked me out." I mumbled. Everett's eyes flared. "Who? Where? When?" EvaLyn asked. "At work. It was my bosses cousin Lucian." I muttered. I felt so put on the spot. "How'd he look?" EvaLyn asked. I blushed. "He's really adorable. He has amber eyes, and brown hair. I just hate that he's so tall, but it suits him. He definitely a big man, he makes me feel small." I said trying not to swoon or think of his face.

"You really like him!" EvaLyn squealed. "I do not!" I said, my face heating up. "Will you go out with me then?" Everett asked. I turned to look at him. "Why not, but I don't have a huge track record for second dates." I purred. Everett stood up. "How about a kiss to seal the deal?" He asked. An image of Lucian flashed in my mind. I quickly pushed it away. "Okay." I breathed. EvaLyn grinned from the sidelines.

Everett grabbed me by the shoulders and placed a quick kiss on the side of my mouth. "Are you sure?" He asked no doubt sensing my hesitation. "I would have said no if I wasn't goddamned sure you little shit." I used to cursing to hide my fear. What if he was a user? What if I ruined things with Lucian because of this? Everett grinned. He kissed me fully his lips on mine. His hands found my neck and he pulled my head back kissing me harder, demanding access. So I let go of my control and kissed him back. I put my hands in his hair and forcefully thrust my tongue in his mouth. I felt him smile on my lips.

Then I remembered Lucian. He wouldn't be happy I kissed Everett. I pulled away from the kiss. "Woooooooooo! You're going to be my sister in law. You would look beautiful in white." EvaLyn said trying to whisk me away from Everett. I cleared my throat. "I think you're all forgetting the date I have tomorrow with Lucian!" I snapped. EvaLyn stared at me accusingly. "I need an outfit. Can you help me? Please!" I whined.

She continued to glare at me. "What do I get out of it?" She asked. "A guarantee I won't visit you while you sleep. Only for tonight." I said menacingly. "Okay! Let's go." She grabbed my arm then I was down the hall and in my room.
