I had called Alex knowing he would want me to once I read the text and he said he was on the way with a couple of officers as well. I start pacing back and forth in my office not knowing what would happen next when it comes to those two. I had closed the store early just in case something happened with innocent people were here, I felt bad about cutting Shawn's hours short that I told him I would double his pay for today hoping he wouldn't quit on me.
I get so lost in my thought and worry that I don't hear the loud banging on the doors at first. Being cautious, I slowly open the office door and cautiously make my way out to see who is out there without being seen first. Seeing Alex and the police behind him I release a sigh of relief before heading to the door to unlock it and let them in. Alex rushes inside and crushes me in a hug making me relax for a bit before I remember why I'm still upset with and push him away slightly making him give me a confused look.
"Are you okay?" He asks me with worry in his eyes. "Yeah, I'm fine." I say shortly to him before pulling out my phone to show the officers the text. "This is what they sent me. I didn't know what to do after I called so I just closed the store early just in case." I say to the Officers ignoring Alex on purpose. The officer takes my phone and giving me a nod. "Thank you Mrs. Henderson, We will have to take this with us to the station to see if we can figure out where the text was sent from. I'm sure you would want to come with, to get you're phone back when we're done and answers?" He asks me. I give him a nod and grab my things before following them outside to be stopped by Alex, when he grabs my hand pulling me to a stop.
"Shorty, hold on. What's wrong?" He asks me as I just give him a flat look. "Look we'll talk about it at home. Not here. I got to go." I say pulling my hand away and continue walking before he stops me again. "Okay we'll talk but let me drive you there okay? This effects me also, not just you." He says sternly. Not wanting to cause anything yet, I just give him a look before reluctantly nodding my head as he leads me to his car.
We start driving to the station behind the officers and the whole time the car is filled with awkward silence with neither one of us knowing what to say really. Once we reach the parking lot and park. I ignore Alex and get out of the car and rush to the doors to get inside knowing he was going to stop me again to try to talk. I head to the desk and start talking to the receptionist sitting there, "Hi, uhm I was wondering how long it would take before I would get my phone back?" I ask her not really knowing what else to say to her. She smiles at me gently before replying. "It won't take that long hon, why don't you and you're friend there take a seat and the Officer on the case will come and get you when he's done okay?" She says gently. Giving her a nod, I turn to the row of seats against a wall and sit while I see Alex sit next to me from the corner of my eye.
The officers that responded to the call must have given her a heads up on the way here. I nervously bounce my leg up and down as we wait for them to come tell us what they find. Alex sensing me nervousness, lays his hand on my knee stopping my bouncing as I look at him. He smiles at me before leaning in my direction. "It'll be okay Shorty, but while we're waiting what did the text say?" He asks me while trying to comfort me. I sigh heavily as I turn my body to his and keep my face neutral to show I'm still upset with him. "Just that I will pay for Brooke running and Him almost dying." i say quietly as Alex places his hand against my cheek and softly brushes his thumb against my skin.
His sweet actions cause a small smile to show but before he says anything about I quickly get rid of my smile and grab his hand taking it away from my face. At my actions, his eyes narrow and before he can say anything else I see the Officers that took my phone head in our direction. I quickly stand up and Alex follows as I meet them halfway. "So was you able to trace it?" I ask them hoping that they was able to. "The thing about tracing texts is that it's a lot more work and harder than tracing phone calls. But no we weren't." He says gently. "So what do we do now?" I ask them.
"The isn't much we can do at the moment. The only thing I can suggest you to do is block the number and any other unknown numbers from contacting this phone again. If something else happens or comes up fill free to call." He tells us before walking away. I see Alex fume beside me and I grab him before he can go after the officers and land himself in jail. "Alex, no. I don't need you in jail." I tell him while trying to push him out the door. "No, they can't just basically tell us to deal with it!" He says while fighting against me making me angry even more at him. I let go of him before slapping him upside the head hard as he looks at me and holds the spot behind his head where I hit him. "Alex! NO! We still have to talk." I say before walking past him and get in the car outside. After a short bit he gets in the car as well and begins to drive us home.
After pulling into the drive way we sit in the car for a bit before I look out the windshield and I ask them question that's been bugging me. "Do you not want kids with me? Is this marriage gonna be just us living our lives together and not even consider the thought of making a family?" After hearing only silence, I slowly turn towards Alex to see he's looking out the window and not at me making me think even more that it's true.
