"Oh come on. You've had no humor since..." Tyler started. "Never mind." His eyes dropped and his cheerful mood seemed to disappear. As the room fell silent one of the twins started to cry.
"I got it." Jay stood up and walked down the hall.
"I need some air." I shook my head and walked outside closing the door behind me. I sat down in front of the door and took a deep breath.
"I know.. I already signed the divorce papers, they should be on my desk... I understand." I heard Eros speak lowly. I looked around and didn't see him. I followed the sound of his voice and walked around to see him standing outside Raes room.
"They're all grown so they don't need me. I was supposed to go back to the council next year anyways... I've already talked to them about everything." He sounded annoyed. I hid behind the corner listening to him.
"I wish we could've worked this out too.. I'm not completely to blame.. well you can't just tell your husband you hate him and expect everything to be the same, it doesn't work that way.. I love them just as much as I love-" He paused looking to the moon. "Loved you.. yes I know.. goodbye." He sighed as he hung up. I rushed back in front of the door and sat down. He came around the corner and looked at me concerned.
"Hey. You okay?" I asked him calming myself down.
"Yeah. Are you?" He sat next to me.
"I just needed a minute where one of the twins wasn't crying." I took a deep breath and laid my head on the door. "When were you going to tell me you were getting a divorce?"
"Ah. So you did hear that." He smirked a little.
"When did it happen?" I looked to see he was staring at the ground.
"Two months ago? I thought we were getting close again but she gave me the divorce paperwork before I moved into the guest house. I should've told you but you had the twins and we had to worry about the curse and.. just life." He sighed in defeat.
"I understand. Relationships can be hard work." I looked back up to the sky seeing the moonlight filling the air.
"Well not a lot of people realize that relationships aren't always fifty fifty. Sometimes they're twenty eighty and the other times they need to be eighty twenty but at the end of the relationship, it needs to equal fifty fifty. A lot of people just expect the relationship to be effortless and it's not. Sadly my wife was one of those people." He leaned against the door next to me and looked up at the sky.
"I already said I understand. I didn't know about the fifty fifty thing but I get it." I coughed into my elbow feeling my skin was dry.
"You need to drink some blood. You're becoming as dry as a bone." He shoved his shoulder into mine.
"I guess if we are going to find Renae, I need my strength don't I?" I smiled as I stood up.
-
About twelve hours had passed. I said goodbye to the twins since Jarrod and Rosia offered to watch them while I was gone. Eros, Jay, Tyler and I were on the quickest flight to Italy. If Nolla was Kylie and Kylie was Nolla then she should be back at the remains of the old house. They should act as a beacon since it couldn't trap her completely.
"Adam." Eros shook my shoulder.
"What?" I looked at him confused.
"Tyler asked you what we should call her..?" Eros scratched his neck.
"Kylie?"
"Would that be safe?" Jay spoke up slightly worried.
"Yes. It's not her real name. Least not her first witch name." I sighed as I leaned back resting my eyes.
"But it was a name given to her at birth for one of her lives.. wait, was she a witch or a human when you married her?" Tyler was confused while he thought out loud.
"I don't know. I thought she was human. She never practiced any kind of magic.. she may have hinted about knowing witches but it was never really questioned." I sighed bringing my hand to my forehead and sighing heavily.
"Let's just sit back and relax for the rest of the flight." Eros patted my back. I nodded and laid my head back down.
"I heard if you please Erebos he'll darken the lives of your enemies." Jay was searching on his phone.
"Why are you bringing up Erebos into this?" I turned to look at him behind me.
"Well, on the website it says he's her father." He showed me the section of the Greek Goddess of Empathy.
"We don't even know if that's correct." I rolled my eyes as I laid back.
"Did you know her first story takes place in Athens. Eros isn't that where your from?" He continued ignoring me.
"Yes. I'm aware.. I was one of the humans that ran to her altar hoping for protection. I was just a child then." Eros smiled hiding the dark in his eyes.
"She's more then just Empathy. Can we drop it?" I turned and looked out the window.
"Regardless she's amazing. I hear she was one of the only gods who delivered to those who prayed to her. She's the personification of pity, mercy, clemency, and compassion. She's not directly the goddess of Empathy but she has the strongest empathy of all the gods and goddesses." I rubbed my temples as they continued to ignore me.
"She and I used to talk when I was the Pathea." Tyler whispered.
"It says here that she was the main god to talk to for human life. If you wanted help in any aspect of life that she would be the best goddess willing to help." I looked over to Eros who had tears building in his eyes as he gathered all his memories.
"Guys. I'm going to tell you one more time before I crush your throats so you cannot talk about it anymore. Shut. Up." I glared behind me. Jay looked at me as he turned off his phone shoving it in his pocket and Tyler glared out the window.
"Thank you." Eros mouthed to me as I turned back around.
"No problem." I sighed as I rested my head against the seat listening to the engine of the plane.
-
"So we need to go this route so she won't detect us." Eros pointed out a route on a map.
"But that's the way we always go there anyways?" I looked at him confused.
"There's a reason for it, I believe she was a witch before and to keep her powers off the radar she took this route. It's in-between the grids of magic abilities so no one can track anyone on this route." He smirked.
"Are you just spewing this out of your ass? Because that makes absolutely zero sense." Tyler looked at the map confused.
"On the contrary. Rosia gave me this." He pulled out another piece of paper, it mapped out all of Italy except certain routes, including one to my old house. "This maps our location and shows exactly which routes to take where we can't be tracked. It's worked off of negative magic. If we trail off into a grid with magic it stops working and turns blank." He held the paper over the map showing exactly where we were.
"So let's go." Jay started walking but Eros grabbed his collar.
"You need to take every step behind me. If we mess this up at all, then we lose our lead." He glared at him.
"Got it." I stepped behind Eros and Tyler behind me then Jay in the rear.
"Walk slowly like a human. Keep track of each step you take and do not step out of line.' Eros warned us.
"That won't be necessary. I was alerted as soon as your plane landed." I looked past Eros to see Kylie standing there with a devilish grin.
"What the actual fuck?" Eros turned around and glared at her. "So much for this fucking thing." He crumpled the map and threw it behind him.
"Adam, how could you think I wouldn't notice you being here?" She looked at me lovingly.
"You've got to be kidding me." I let out in an annoyed whisper.
---Eros POV---
"Where'd they go?!" I yelled as I turned to Adam hearing his whisper only to discover they had disappeared.
"How should I know?" Jay yelled running towards the spot Kylie disappeared.
"Tyler can't you track them?!" I continued to yell grabbing the map and unwinding it.
"How the hell can I do that? She stayed in between the veils so I can't track her!" He said annoyed over my shoulder.
"So they're still traveling along this route?" I pointed at the route we were taking to get to the house.
"More then likely. The best thing we can do is follow this route as quickly as we can till we get to the house. You or Jay are going to have to give me a ride."
"Jay! Carry your sisters lover!" I yelled starting my run. Without looking back I ran. Adam was in a fragile state, we couldn't just leave him with her. Either she'll kill him or he'll end up killing himself.
---Adams POV---
"Honey, I just needed a minute with you.." She whispered in my ear. I was numb. I couldn't move and I couldn't respond. I wouldn't respond. I looked around at the ash that was once my home.
"Talk to me. I know you still love me otherwise you wouldn't have come here." She grinned as she stood in front of me.
"Where is she?" I asked her with no emotion looking straight through her.
"No. We're not talking about her. You're supposed to love me! Not her!" She yelled shaking the ground.
"How could I love you when you never even loved yourself?" I looked to the sky hoping Rae could at least hear me.
"I've loved you since I laid my eyes on you! I've been doing everything I can to make you love me but you don't return my feelings! Do you know how much that hurts?" She began to cry like she used to whenever we would argue. Before I'd always act the coward and drop to my knees and hold her close but this time it only made me angry. I kept my gaze at the sky and felt the tears swell.
"Rae. Please help me understand." I sighed as the tears rolled down my cheek.
"HOW CAN YOU STILL BE THINKING ABOUT HER?! I even managed to convince the gods I'm more deserving to live here with you then her but you won't forget about her!" She slapped me but I didn't move from where I was staring.
"Because he does not love you. Release him." Her voice rang from behind me, I knew her voice and it made my heart spark and begin to flutter but I still couldn't move.
"You?! Why are you here?!" Kylie screamed as she held onto me.
"I am here because I was allowed to do one last act to put this whole situation to rest." I could hear her voice coming closer. I kept fighting my body to turn my head. I was finally able to turn my head enough to barely see her walking towards us looking like the goddess she was. She was in white and light blue robes and she had a pure white aura glowing around her.
"W-what do you mean?" Kylies voice began to shake as she dug her nails into my skin tighter.
"You. Will repeat the most terrible days of your life in limbo until you learn your lesson. You shall be allowed to see human lives strive and find happiness while you struggle to understand that you had your chance but gave it up. This was not my decision but I'm here to see that your punishment is put into place since you've only caused pain to everyone you've claimed to love." Slowly but surely Kylies grip on me loosened as fear slowly showed in her expression.
"Rae..?" I croaked seeing her face slowly approach mine but she wouldn't even look at me.
