Ignoring the metal plated gates rusting open, Vanessa idolized her Idol Saya The Moon Fox. A well renowned cosplay model and Isekai Game Player whose entire kit reminisced a white wolf.
Logan's shouting, berating Vanessa, had no effect. It wasn't until a swooping tire-sized claw slammed towards her that she got her head in the game.
Luckily, she got her shield up in time to merely be knocked back a few feet. But the claws kept coming in, giving her little time to make out what she was fighting. Logan mocked that surely the chimera will win this fight given how "out of shape" its opponent is.
On each strike she rose her shield and fell back, nearly losing her balance and lowering her shield. Brisking through the dirt, Vanessa struggled to get out of this eternal loop of being tossed and block out Logan's mouth.
There weren't any opening for Vanessa to maneuver about. So she lunged into an attack, swiping her sword against the beast's arm. Her sword bounced back from its black hoove-like hide which extend up to its elbows.
Finally getting a glance of her opponent, she could make out why the blows were so strong. The chimera was literally the size of two trucks. Its mane was wild and the eyes were mesmerizing.
The chimera's muscles flexed as it paced around her. Clearly Vanessa's only advantage was that she was a tid bit faster than its strike, sort of.
It pounced towards her, slamming its claw into her shield to hold her down. With assistance from her sword wielding hand, Vanessa was able to keep her shield up despite being pressed back.
Feeling the dirt pile up behind her heels, she noticed that the chimera was pushing with its hind legs and literally gripping with its front claw.
The other claw was used for balance. Not that it was needed. Even Logan was declaring the win early for the chimera.
Hearing him caught her attention in time to see a spot a snake slithering through the dirt. Shocking as it was, Vanessa gave her body a twist at the right moment to pull away from the chimera's claw and counter the snake's strike.
Though she missed the snake, she oriented herself at the beast and sliced at its next strike to gain distance. There were no signs of the snake anywhere. Hearing Logan tease that she should do her homework on mythology didn't make it any better.
The chimera came a little close to stand on its hind legs. It roared loud enough for all of the prisoners inside of their cells to take guesses at what beast she was fighting. Newbs figured a powerful lion, while veterans knew it was something mythological.
Vanessa stood ready with a strong heart, facing the chimera. The snake snapped at her hip, buying into her strategy.
Once the snake's head got close, Vanessa spun, allowing her shield to black the strike and sliced at its head.
As expected, the snake dodged her blade, but not her foot stepping over. It enabled her to drive her shield down in a fluid motion, crushing the snake's head off before the main body could attack her.
The chimera pulled back, clawing at its now bleeding snake tail. Vanessa took the moment to catch her breath and calm her nerves. Only time will tell just how powerful this creature really is. And given that it was now pissed, she could tell it was going to get nasty.
Dirt was was flying high above the chimera's head. Vanessa could vaguely make out its posture, listening to its vicious growls before it sprang towards her.
In the time it took the chimera to close that distance between them was shorter than a breath. Granted, Vanessa rolled out the way within a blink of the eye and rose with her shield up, taking a full kick from the beast.
Refusing to shut up, Logan actually complimented Vanessa's recent maneuvers as being pro determined. However, seeing that Vanessa remained in a low defense position throughout the chimera's current rage fit, actually worried him.
There came a slight moment where the chimera's guard was down. Vanessa jumped in for a hopeful kill.
She was instead met with a swift counter from the beast that she managed to block off. Even better, she got a nice look at the claw.
The chimera felt insulted. Vanessa didn't back away for her life. Both were cunning. But there was literally nothing to Vanessa's advantage. Something that Logan never failed to remind the viewers.
Vanessa's shield lowered a bit, giving the chimera the chance to strike. Instead of raising her shield, Vanessa rose her sword to wedge itself within the joints of the chimera's claw.
A cry came from the beast before Vanessa yanked on her blade. A flinch from the chimera released it from her grasp.
The chimera waved its good claw to strike her multiple times. On each attack, Vanessa stepped further towards its blind spot to keep it moving.
She maneuvered as necessary until she was able to plunge her sword into a joint on the chimera's claw. Again, she felt her blade dig through that small, softened weak point. Twisting her blade up into the chimera's paw brought a smile to Vanessa's face, refusing to let the beast pull away.
After a struggle, the chimera bit towards Vanessa, only to be countered to the teeth with her shield. It drew back, gaining distance in response to the pain.
With its neck exposed, Vanessa raced in to drive her blade in and down that neck. Blood poured down on her for a brief bit before the chimera cried away, rolling its body in the dirt.
