Unknown Entities

"I-I'm so sorry, I mistakenly bumped into you." The girl with pointy ears was sitting on my leg as she spoke.

I didn't speak as I studied her face and moved a bit closer.

'Ahh!'

She screamed then stood up with her face flushed red, then I realized how awkward I was acting at the moment.

"Ah! Sorry for acting weird, it's just that I haven't seen a person with pointy ears like yours before." I was being honest (which is not my usual self) for some reason.

She just knelt down on the ground like some lady, and started picking the books that fell.

She's wearing a blue maiden's gown that made her look like a princess or something.

"Let me help you." I just stood up then bent a little and started picking up the remaining books. I picked up a book that had the title 'Basic Alchemy' written on it.

'What does alchemy mean?'

I asked myself but quenched the thought by saying I'll soon find out already. I guess staying at home and reading dad's books and journals didn't do me any good.

I finished picking the books up then noticed Ben was hiding behind me like he was afraid of something.

I looked front and saw the pointy eared girl petting my puppies; and the books she stacked back were beside her.

"Ben, don't tell me you're afraid of girls." I muttered so only Ben could hear me.

"I-I am not! I just, don't like staying close to them." He spoke like it's normal for boys his age to be afraid of girls.

"Like being a dragon doesn't help you with such matters." It annoyed me to see him like this after what I saw earlier on.

"..."

I approached the girl, and it seemed Zeus and Hades liked her, and expressed it by licking her face.

"Uhmm... Excuse me, but who are you?" I asked calmly, so I won't startle her again.

"O-Ohh! Sorry, my name is Elise, and I was just returning these books to the library." She said it with a smile on her face that just made her so... beautiful?

No! No! No! What am I thinking? I have to become stronger, this isn't the time to flirt with girls.

"*clears throat* I'm Danton, and he's Ben," I pointed at Ben, then at the twins, "They're my puppies: Zeus and Hades. And we're also heading to the library."

"Zeus and Hades?... such dumb names." She muttered to herself but I heard it.

"What was that?"

"Ohh! Nothing. Are you also aspiring to be a scholar?" She asked me a question I couldn't help but wonder why she only said 'scholar'.

"Why do you think I want to be a scholar?"

"Oh! Sorry for jumping to conclusions, it's just that the other mage classes don't usually read books." She looked sad; which I don't have the strength or time to pry into.

"I'll help you carry these books to the library and in turn can you tell me more about the 'mage classes'?" I proposed a simple deal that I plan to make Ben carry all the books, because... well he's way stronger than me, and it's his punishment for not telling me beforehand.

"Ok and thank you." She accepted it.

I noticed a few things that I don't understand. Firstly, why can it show her surname when she hasn't told me yet? This is different from mom's pregnancy, which I felt an entity in her stomach(if that makes any sense). And secondly, the section called 'Mage Class' added only after I heard about it; so, why did her surname show up?

We got to the library, and it wasn't what I expected at all.

It's a shabby small building that looks like there's hardly enough room in there to welcome more than ten people.

Elise kept her end of the bargain and told me there are two major types of mages: scholar and warrior.

Scholar-mages are thereby divided into three major parts, namely: Alchemist, Scribe, and Enchanter. Scholar-mages are mages that aren't mainly skilled in using magic in battles (though there are a few exceptions), so they study to still prove to be useful to the magical society. Their ranks are: Master, Expert, Adept, Intermediate, and Beginner; they're distinguished by their knowledge, the certificates they've gathered and things they've discovered it created. Some other types of scholar-mage classes are rune-smithing, magical weapons and armour blacksmithing, and magi tech engineering.

Warrior-mages are divided into three parts, which are: Berserker, Sorcerer and Enforcer. Their ranks are determined by the titles they've earned, which stating their amount of strength. A rare type of warrior-mages are Conjurers.

'Grrring'

The bell above the door of the library signalled our entrance. The first thing I could see is the desk like ten steps in front of me, then the bookshelves to my right-hand side that only two rows.

I was welcomed by a scrawny looking old woman sitting on a desk with curled pinkish hair that stopped at her back and clear white eyes; I even thought she was blind. She wore a purple scarf around her bent back and a white gown underneath it.

"Elise, I see you brought your handsome friends this time around." The old lady spoke in a calm tone and chuckled a little.

"Uh-uhh, n-no! It's not like that. W-We actually just met." Elise put her hand on her face as she blushed.

"Good day young men. What can I help you with?" Before I could even answer she already spoke up again, "Or don't tell me you're trying to woo Elise, Hmm..."

"Uh... No miss, we came to the library to read some books." I replied the conclusive old woman.

"Oh! So you're saying Elise is not your type? Hmm..." She moved a little closer to express emphasis.

"N-No! I didn't say that, and I'm not implying Elise isn't beautiful. I'm just saying that--" I suddenly stopped, realizing how awkward the moment was as everyone's eyes were on me and thought to myself:

'Why do I always meet annoying old skunks in my life?'

'Mhrrmm!'

I cleared my throat before continuing, "Old lady, please can you direct me to the section about the world history?" I asked her coldly to tell her I wasn't ready for any more jokes.

"Watch your mouth kid! And why will you want to know about the world history?" I spoke with a freakish smile on her face with her eyes closed.

"I don't deem it necessary for you to know." I put up a facade to act like I wasn't frightened.

"Ma'am, please I'm sorry about my friend's attitude. He's just having a rough time." Ben begged the woman, then she agreed and pointed at a shelf at the end of the room.

Elise already started returning the books she borrowed to their correct shelves.

I and Ben with the twins made our way to the end of the room. I noticed there are only six columns of bookshelves, and each bookshelf is about a different topic.

I read throughout the afternoon and to my surprise there are a lot of things that this world also doesn't know.

There are six races, which are: Humans, Elves, Dwarves, Giants, Orcs and Ape-men. There are some hypotheses of other mystical beings' existence outside our realm, but none are with concrete evidence.

There are only two continents, namely, Wricontien and Minstanacia.

Wricontien has four main countries, which are Blivern (the Human Kingdom), Glarmox (the Elf Kingdom), Bradsmaug (the Dwarf Kingdom), and Gorgolk (the Giant Kingdom).

Minstanacia is divided into Orcshire (the Orc Kingdom) and the Dwarven Ruins. The Ape-men live in Tangro, a forest in Wricontien they made their home.

The beginning of magic is said to be caused by an unknown entity granting different species that came across it power and intelligence at different ratios; the higher power it gives you, the more your form is altered and the more defined your power is.

I think this gives reason to why Orcs are the strongest but dumbest, and they specialize in beastly-type magic. Ape-men have a higher intelligence that gives them a power other than magic, called spirit energy.

Giants and Dwarves are limited to being able to control only the constituents of earth, the size of Giants are their upper hand and the intelligence of Dwarves are their own upper hand at the cost of their size.

Elves can only control the forces of nature and are naturally adept at it, at the cost of a slightly altered appearance compared to the Orcs.

And lastly, Humans, which are the weakest with no altered physical form, but can learn any of the magic types of the other species with practically no cost in physical form or body structure and framework.

There are five magic types that all types of magic fall under, which are: fire, water, earth, air and abstract. Abstract doesn't have an actual definition and only few people have it, some examples are beastly type magic by the orcs, shadow type magic, healing, poison and mind control.

Spirit energy doesn't deal with magic but has a connection to it and can hardly be learned.

There was nothing about cursed magic and when I eventually found something about it, it was related to the Ancient Druids.

About 1,000 years ago, during the Monarch Era, The races were ruled by families that always sought guidance from the greatest mage ever to walk the face of the earth, Merlin.

Before Arthur became king, he had to prove himself worthy in his father's eyes, King Uther Pendragon. He besought to make his father proud; which resulted in him exterminating all the elves in Camelot as they were accused of being spies for the Elf King, King Meldred.

Under King Arthur's reign, the Humans and Elves had an intense battle that ended with King Arthur as the only survivor.

The reason behind the war was speculated to be the extermination of elves from Camelot but isn't believed by many because of various false rumours and philosophy about the reason spread.

After the war, the world began to change as the ruling figures in each country started becoming more and more complicated.

Camelot was divided and split into different parts so no one in this present age knows where Camelot actually is.

And just like the wind he came, he left.

King Arthur disappeared.
