Chapter 48 A rainy day

The various countries stopped bickering with each other and started to deal with these shadows.During this year the various governments of the world tasked and sent the military to deal with these shadows, they obliterated and slaughtered these shadows since just with a hit could cause the shadows to fade.

Joyous and happy that they were able to find that these shadows could be easily dealt with, they instead concentrated in finding these shadows in a large scale, they scattered all over the world to find and exterminate these shadows.

Yet after eliminating a great number of these shadows, another batch of these shadows appeared from nowhere and started to attack the cities and the countryside.

No matter how many times they eliminated these shadows they would always respawn and continued to attack and attack.

One thing they discovered was that they only focused on attacking humans and humans alone.

Also, the shadows always changed strategy when a new batch was created, sometimes they would split and attack different places, sometimes would all gather together and concentrate in attacking one place causing many victims.

In total of two-hundred and three times the shadow were dealt with and two-hundred and four times respawned, as time passed they deducted that someone was commanding these shadows, but who or what is what they asked themselves.

With the satellites in the outer space they weren't able to catch or picture a mastermind behind these shadows and the thought that maybe the mastermind was a someone that blended themselves in one of their cities made them shudder in fear.

No matter what, they searched and searched despite not having a single hint or track of this mastermind. In fact some believed that there wasn't a mastermind but it was divine punishment or even the end of the world these people were scoffed or ignored.

Then one day, a drone that was randomly flying near a library, was able to record two little but also muscular men carrying a car three times their size inside the library.

The operator behind the drone was baffled, there was someone still alive in place a where shadows have already attacked, what more surprising this was location the shadows made the first apparition.

Unnoticed, the drone entered the library and as the drone ventured deeper and deeper inside the dungeon the operator becomed more and more surprised.

What the operator saw were creatures that didn't exist in their world.

The upper body of women while their lower parts of a spider.

Creatures with small and transparent wings in their shoulders.

Humans with pointy ears or men with the size of a dwarf.

Women that have parts of their bodies covered with wool and on their foreheads two curvy horns.

Then there were some strange looking women that were seemingly humans but there was something strange in the coloring of their skin, it was almost artificial.

All of them occupied in their own world or ignored the drone flying past them.

There was even someone who waved their arms at the sight of the drone.

Then the drone finally arrived in a rather secluded corner of the library where piles of books were scattered across the corner.

Lying down between these books there was a woman whose eyes were focused on the drone.

A sweet smile was etched on her smile.

"Hello there!You finally found me!"

The woman grabbed the drone with both of her hands, bringing her face close to the camera.

"I'm Ophiel! Yes, whether you believe it or not, I'm the one controlling the shadows. I delayed your demise for too long, it is time for you to prepare yourselves and die."

And with those last words, only darkness could be seen in the operator's monitor.

"Op.n.4 here, the drone found them.Yes, I have the recording saved, I'll immeadiately send it.C-commander, it is a human.Yes, I'm not lying.A-a human, you know the implications of this.We have to immediately deploy the...!"

Two hours later soldiers arrived in the designed location but there wasn't a single soul inside the library what's more there wasn't also any trace of a single book.

"Was it really a prank? Then what about those monsters.Cosplay?Too realistic to be only cosplay..."

"Commander! There are news of shadows appearing in United States!"

"Shadows confirmed in the south of China!"

"Shadows on the Caribbean islands..."

"News of shadows on Germany!"

"Shadows on Canada!"

On the room the operators reported multiple sightings of shadows to the various commanders.

"How?"

"The numbers are more than before!"

*bang*" Damnit we should had just blasted that library the moment we have found her!Because of that...because of that...!"

With the appearence of a child Envy together with Kindness and a dark elf, they roamed undisturbed around the world, meeting and seeing countless people and living creatures, increasing the maximum shadows Envy could create.

I didn't totally forget my quest here, but those manga and all were so interesting that I almost wanted to live here, well that's not happening though, there are the girls waiting me.

"Core informs Deva that Core is ready to order the satellites to automatically shoot particles beams to every target that is human for the exception of Dev-Ophiel."

At first I thought only using the shadows and wait for these shadows slowly chip away the numbers of the humans but...Core proposed something better and faster than that, but it required for her time and that is what I gave her...time.

"It is time, do it Core. 'I' order it."

"Understood..." And with that Core closed her eyes.

Seconds later under the shade of a tree Deva could see in the sky myriads of thin red lines descending to Earth.

"Core states that no matter how deep a human hides underground or is protected by a thick wall, these particle beams will be able to pierce and reach even the core of this world. Core informs that Core only changed the fire rate and the dimension of these beams while the potency and fatality of these beams didn't diminish in the sligthest."

"Was it tough, Core?Hacking or something those things, I mean."

"Core admits it was indeed difficult, the access was encrypted and other stuff Deva wouldn't understand, Core needed an entire year but overall the result is rather satisfying, don't you think so too?"

"Math and that stuff was never my forte."

"Core states that Deva is merely too lazy to put herself to study those subjects."

"Yes,yes..."

As the two talked, thousands of human lives were lost every second.
