Base Construction (Part 1)

I plan to evolve Xydrid so that he can become stronger protect us from incoming monsters that we can't fight normally, especially enemy dragons and dragonoids.

Dragons in general are very powerful. They have high base stats, can repel attacks easily, can scare enemies away by its presence alone, get stronger over time, and they look cool.

However, Dragons have weaknesses. In the game, they have one of the highest XP requirement to level up and require time and strategy. If the player's soul as a dragon dies, would mean days, if not weeks of work will go up in smoke. Their own flesh and blood can only wound each other consistently; dragon made weapons and Dragonslayers alike are a good example. Lastly, evolving dragons are expensive.

For Dragon Hearts, they indicate their phase of life. The older they become, the stronger and does not become weaker by time. Their body parts especially the heart fetch a towering price going no less than 55 Gold Coins. That's from a Hatchling Dragon!

But to Xydrid, no amount of coin will replace him. So, I will make him dragon no one would dare to cross.

If I remember, there are 10 stages within the life phase. 10 in Hatchling, 10 in Young, and so forth. Xydrid got 8 more to go, but why wait?

"I want to strengthen Xydrid's Dragon Heart."

Starting at Hatchling, it costs 10k each to grow it, 90,000 EP to fully reach the max until I reach the next phase.

"I want to reach Hatchling-X."

"Yes."

[Acknowledged.]

After the message, Xydrid's heart began glowing red through his chest. Next, Xydrid began to grow slowly. Usually, it shows a dim glow to younger dragons when it comes to developing naturally, but my method made it glow bright due to my system.

And then, Xydrid emitted a force from within.

*Poof!*

A small force since he is small, but it is one step to become a force to be reckoned with.

Xydrid soon stopped growing until he is large enough to cover both of my hands.

[Dragon Heart Progression complete. Xydrid has grown to Hatchling-X.]

[Due to this, Xydrid has risen to Rank H+.]

[Skills acquired for Xydrid. Fire Breath, Fire Magic-II, Dragon Ward-I, Dragon Pierce-I, Dragon Scale-I.]

[Xydrid can now evolve.]

Xydrid shakes himself as to relieve the tension and growled happily.

"Can you fly?" I said. Xydrid flapped his wings, but his body did not lift an inch.

*Arrr...*

Xydrid growled dejectedly. I patted his head as to comfort him.

"It's alright, you'll be soaring to the skies soon." I said, consoling him. I began to progress his Dragon Heart further.

"Yes."

[Acknowledged. Now ascending...]

After the message, Xydrid's heart began to glow brighter and grow bigger until his four legs began to hang over the edge. I have to put him down as Young Dragons can be the size of a fully matured dog.

Xydrid continues to grow and sprout horns from his head and his claws began to grow angular than the previous round claws. Xydrid soon began to grow little teeth in his mouth.

*Bwoosh!*

A greater force went out and caused a small gust of wind. Hyoran also felt it and turned to see Xydrid much bigger than before.

"Kain...is that...Xydrid?" Hyoran gasped.

"Yeah, he's older and bigger now." I said.

"Rah!" Mirtis grunted, calling out to something.

I turned to see my undeads are finished creating a wooden house that is 60 feet long, 70 feet wide, and 50 feet tall. The wood made in this house is smooth and not covered in leftover bark.

Viri came to me and grabbed my hand to show me the front of it. I followed her to see that they even put on the steps, the doors, and the windows.

"Wow...that's amazing." I said.

"The undead can do that?" Hyoran said.

"Yeah, let's go in." I said. I grabbed Hyoran's hand and went inside.

The house recently created was a table with four chairs, a flight of stairs, and a back door. The floor underneath us is built with wooden planks perfectly measured to fit snugly into each other like pieces of the puzzle.

"This carpentry is...good. Too good. It's as if they knew perfectly how to build." I said, rubbing the floors.

"Kain! There are beds up here!" Hyoran yelled down from upstairs. I walked upstairs to see two empty bed frames out of wood and two nightstands.

"They even did that too." I said.

"How are we going to get a mattress? Or how are we going to prepare for the winter?" Hyoran asked.

"We're getting to that. We still got a lot of daylight left." I said. That is also an important thing to make it sustainable, but I must make sure I get a stable supply without spending too much of my EP.

I mean, I spent over 100,000 EP on Xydrid's growth. That's about 8 hours spent as a Dragon and that cost grows big time. But it is an investment.

We walked outside of our wooden house to see my legion of undead including Mirtis waiting for my next order.

"Build a shelter for the bigger monsters like Zala, Taudera, and Santrasa." I said. "Also build a shed to store in wood."

The skeletons stood up and began building stables for the larger beasts and a shed to hold more wood.

[Notice. Paura and Schwarze has located a cave. It is 10 minutes from here on foot.]

"Hyoran, let's go to the cave." I said.

"You know where it is?" Hyoran asked. I nodded.

I opened a rift to the cave where Schwarze and Paura are at and I needed to bring a few with me.

"Gris, Noire, Xydrid, come with me." I said.

Gris, Noire, and Xydrid followed us into the portal to the cave entrance, meeting Schwarze and Paura.

I closed the rift behind us and took out my Red Moon from my Space and took a good look at the cave. The entrance goes underground, but shows a faint blue light coming from a corner.

We go inside and I used Light Magic to illuminate the dark cave, assuming that the blue light could be the only one.

Hyoran took out her Falchion, ready to attack anyone trying to attack us. As we turn to the corner, the blue light revealed something I couldn't imagine.
