Chapter 14

I waited at the door to gather my thoughts and heaved a deep sigh of nervousness as I headed to the living room.

Walking in, my eye immediately absorbed Chris in. My breath hitched as I scanned him from head to toe. He wore a navy blue suit that was made to perfection, it made him look very suffisticated and damn sexy and his hair, it was styled differently than I remembered and the gel on his hair was already shining due to the reflection of the light from the windows. Did he do all this just to impress my family?, my heart fluttered as he smiled at me. I remained rooted on the spot as I stared at him, one part of me just wanted to run to him and kiss him senselessly without a care in the world about the people in this room but I withdrew my eyes from his and walked further into the living room.

"Good you're here, he's been waiting for you. Oh and your mom will be down any moment from now" Cass said as she walked pass me probably to the kitchen.

I walked over to Chris and stood in front of him, his scent hit my nostrils almost immediately, a smile appeared on my face as I almost launched myself at him.

"Hi" he gave me a teasing smirk as if he knew what was going on in my mind.

"You're the whole day late" I huffed and looked away.

"I know, I'm really sorry, I was hoping to make it here after I answered my fathere's emergency. I had no idea he wanted me to take care of the emergency. I'm really sorry" he looked at me with worry in his eyes that I might be really angry.

"And you couldn't call or send a text?" I said raising my brows and folding my arms to my chest.

"I know I'm sorry, it was a full 9 hour meeting, no phones allowed and I tried to tell my secretary to contact you but I had no chance. I rushed here as soon as I was done." He moved over to me and held my shoulders " I'm sorry Tina, I honestly had to intentions of missing this trust me" he finished with a sly smile on his face.

"Fine, I believe you. You do look tired though, you sure you don't wanna head home and come back tomorrow?" I looked up at him with concern seeing his ruffled hair that looked like he'd been running his hands through it the whole day. He shook his head negatively

"No way am I backing out, I might feel better if you just get over here and give me a hug" he gave me a cheesy grin. I looked around and saw Cass standing my door with a teasing smirk on her face. God I won't hear the end of this will I? I mentally face palmed myself.

"In your dreams, now have a seat while I grab you something to drink" he chuckled before seating down on a two sitter couch. I poured him a glass of wine and before handing it to him, mom appeared into the living room. Chris immediately stood up.

"Who is this handsome young man over here?" She stood in front of Chris in confusion.

"Uh....mom, I know I've not mentioned any man to you yet but uh this is Chris, a friend of mine and this is—"I turned to Chris, the look on his face made the the words hook in my throat. He looked really hurt but he covered it up with a smile. What was I supposed to say? Sure we've shared a few kisses and romantic moments but there's nothing official between us, plus I don't even know what I feel for him yet. Oh boy this is going to be hard. "Uh.. Chris this is my mom, I'm sure you've met Cass"

What? I'm in too deep, can't back down now can I ?

Mom looked surprised but a bright smile appeared on her face as she shook Chris' hand.

"Welcome son, my daughter hasn't brought someone home in a long time and I was starting to wonder if she would ever. About time Chrissy, c'mon have a seat I do hope you can stay for dinner" She gave him a warm smile.

"Thank you very much Mrs —"

"Its Sarah" she cut him off.

"Thank you Sarah its a pleasure to finally meet you, I've heard a lot about you and you too Cassandra" he showed them his pearly white teeth.

"Cassy is fine" she gave him a smile back as he nodded. I was beyond shocked that Cass could ever let anyone else call her Cassy aside mom. What is happening here?

"Alright Chris please make yourself comfortable, I'll be going to make dinner so please feel free" she gave him a final look before heading to the kitchen.

"Uh Chris mind if I talk to you for a sec?" Cass said turning to me and giving me a cunning smirk.

"Uh...yeah sure"

He gave me one look before following Cass to the back.

I sat for almost an hour anxiously waiting for Chris and cass, I tried to help mom in the kitchen but she refused and I could tell she was avoiding that conversation with me. After a while they surprisingly walked in laughing. Mom came to inform us about dinner before I could ask them any questions.

Dinner consisted of mom and Cass loading Chris with a lot of questions and more of teasing and laughing. After dinner, Chris had to leave so he could get some rest. Mom and Cass suggested to clear the table while I saw him off. We walked quietly to his car both having a lot to say but not knowing how to say it.

We stopped directly in front of his car as he turned to face me.

"Thanks for tonight, it was lovely meeting your family"

"Its not all of us, Cass' boyfriend Michael had to run some emergency Christmas errands but I'm sure you'll meet him another time"

"Another time, that sounds good to hear. I guess I'm doing something right then" he smirked.

"Don't flatter yourself" I playfully rolled my eyes. He chuckled and I joined in with a nervous giggle. I had so much to say to him but I didn't know how to. I know I'm falling for him and I hope I'm not making a mistake about it.

"You look tired and your hair, is that a new hair cut?" He gave me a cheeky smile and moved a step closer to me.

"I had to make a good impression to win you don't I?" My cheeks burned as I immediately lowered my head so he won't see me blush.

"You did all that for me? God I feel like a horrible person" I whispered the last part hoping he won't hear.

He immediately cupped my face in his hands but my eyes were to guilty to meet with his.

"Look at me, I know you feel guilty for introducing me as a friend to your mom, you barely looked me in the eye since then but I honestly don't care. I feel relieved that I've been placed in the friendship zone, makes it easier to win you over" he flashed me a broad smile. The way his lips broadened as the smile extended made me want to kiss him even more. The way he captured and released his lips with his teeth made me loose all my restraint as I launched my self at him and captured his lips with mine. God I've been wanting for this all day. He seemed shocked and without a second thought he held onto the back of my head, pushing me closer as he deepened the kiss. My toes curled, I my stomach started having those butterfly feeling thingy, my knees became weak almost making me drop to the floor but he used his hand to hold onto my waist as he pushed my body closer to his, my hands automatically circled his neck. I was loosing the air in my lungs bit by bit but I didn't care, I didn't want this moment to end.

He released my lips but still held me tightly to his body as he looked directly into my eyes.

"Will you go on a date with me?" He looked at me in anticipation.

"Yes" I breathed out with and lightly smiled as he captured my lips in another heart melting kiss. He hugged me tight and whispered goodnight in my ear, the vibration and warm air from his lips with its close contact on my bare skin sent shivers down my spine. He gave me a final kiss on my temple before turning to his car and driving off.

I stood at the same spot he left me still trying to savour the moment with a smile on my face.
