Chapter 31: Ballroom

Chapter 31: Ballroom

I entered the ballroom with all my expectations coming alive—high ceilings, chandeliers, hollowed space, floor-length curtains, big windows, and tall vases at every corner.

It’s just like the library without the towering bookcases but mere endless space. The white marble floors were polished clean and shiny. It would be a shame to allow your dog with mud-soaked paws to roam freely inside.

The General was looking outside through the big windows. He must have seen me feeding the pigeons with Marcial but I didn’t care really.

The sun was already high at this time as its rays penetrated through the windows. It somehow created a glowing outline all throughout the General’s body.

I cleared my throat and he turned to me, forcing a warm grin. He took off his hands from his pockets and placed them behind him. I noticed that he’s not wearing his usual military uniform with all the flags and little medals all over his chest.
