Chapter 25: Stephen’s Birthday Party
We weren’t really that late when we arrived. We mentioned our names to the buff middle-aged man with tattoos at his arm because he was the one checking the invitations in case someone crashes.
“Enjoy!” He signaled for us to go in.
“Cool tattoo!” Elaine complimented, and the man winked at her and mumbles “thanks” before we completely go inside.
The party started already, and everyone began dancing. The music was loud but not wild. I looked around for my brothers and saw Trevor talking to some of his friends.
“Hello, Trev.” I approach him, and he was stunned. I trust that he wouldn’t spill anything to mom.
“Hailey? What’s with the blue...oh I get it.”
“Trev, I won’t stay for long. I just want to hand my gifts to Stephen.”
He handed me the boxes he placed at a table, and I whisper into his ears, “Don’t worry I’ll go home soon.”
