Mysterious Case

There she stood, looking at the dead body in front of her. She sighed as she yawned and crossed her arms over her chest.

"She looks really sleepy."

"Isn't she a high school student?"

"Why is she here anyway?"

She hung her head low when she heard the whispers. "God, people need to get a damn life." She whispered to herself before crouching down next to the body and inspecting it. "Try not to taint the crime scene." She heard and looked up at see someone she absolutely didn't like.

"I couldn't possibly taint it more that it already is." She smiled and continued her inspection. "Did you get a doctor on this?" She asked Max, who nodded. "Lin." She clicked her tongue in annoyance. "He won't work well with me." Max let out a small chuckle. "No one would." He spoke and watched as the girl pulled out her gloves.

"Which is why I will work on my own. People just can't take it when others have more brains or just common sense. It isn't too common these days." She spoke as she placed her fingers onto the woman's neck at an angle. "Heart attack." Max spoke as he handed the girl the medical reports.

"She was in perfect health. No series of heart diseases or any other kind of problems. How could she have a heart attack? Unless her arteries were weak which is not the case." She asked. "That's why we called you, Aya. She was a convict. Supposed to be executed tomorrow for drug dealing and also kidnapping and killing of a few children. Haven't you watched the news? It was broadcasted today evening." Aya shook her head.

"I don't fancy knowing about how a person ruined another's life." She spoke as she looked at Max. "Send it for postmortem. Then get me the reports." She spoke as she looked at the woman one last time before leaving the crime scene. "That's it?" Max asked as he followed behind her.

"Is there something more to be done or said?" Aya asked as she disposed of the gloves and slipped her hands into her pockets. "Well, you usually have interesting information for us." Aya shook her head. "I'm just thinking. What could've triggered a heart attack? Perfectly healthy woman with no wounds on the body whatsoever." Aya spoke, more to herself.

"We'll talk tomorrow. You don't have school tomorrow anyway." Max spoke and Aya nodded. "Yes, okay. See you then. Have a good night." Aya bowed before she went back home. She walked inside and layed down on the bed again.

'No wounds. Woman with perfect health. Her arteries. No, they were perfectly healthy too.'

Aya was thinking and those thoughts lulled her to a dream less sleep.

Waking up the morning was always kind of a problem for the girl. She struggled and rolled around as her mother tried to wake her up. "It's garbage day, Aya. Come on. Light's already up and about." She spoke and Aya groaned. "That's because he's Light. I'm not him. Neither do I want to be." She spoke but got up.

"Morning, sweetie." Sachiko smiled and placed a kiss to her daughter's forehead. "Morning, mom." Aya smiled as she yawned. She walked downstairs and looked at Light. "Morning, bro." She smiled and got herself an apple.

"Morning. Good sleep?" Light asked. "Yup. Perfectly satisfying." She smiled as she sat down at the table. "Morning, sis!" She heard and smiled as Sayu hugged her from behind. "Morning, Sayu." She smiled as Sayu kissed her cheek. "Morning, Light!" Sayu giggled. "Hmm. Sis for her but Light for me. Good." Sayu giggled and stuck her tongue out.

"Mom. Can I hang out with my friends today? Please? We'll be in Rei's house. I'll be back before 9." Sayu asked and Sachiko sighed. "Sayu. How many times do I have to tell you? You can call them over, sweetie." She said and Sayu whined. "Mom, please. Everyone is going. Niko, Rika, Em, Kara. Pretty please?" She watched as her mom shook her head. "Sis, look!" Sayu clung onto Aya's arm.

"Hmm what will you guys do?" Aya asked. "Oooh we'll play games, order food, just chill out basically. We'll even go shopping but don't worry. Rei's big brother will come with us for that." Sayu spoke and Aya nodded. "Sounds safe enough." She shrugged. Sachiko looked over and raised a brow.

"Just like your dad. Always manage to convince me." Sachiko giggled. "Okay then. Go ahead." She smiled and Sayu jumped in joy. "Oh thank you so much, sis!!" She smiled and kissed her cheek again. "I'll give you a chocolate when I'm back for sure!" She said and ran up to her room.

"Chocolate?" Light asked. He kept one of his hands down, feeding Ryuk the apple.

Ryuk, the god of death. Shinigami in Japanese. Ever since Light got the death note, the said God had been following him. He will continue to do so until either Light dies or the death note is transferred to someone else. Then he'll wipe Light's memories and go to the next person.

"Nah. She'll forget about it in two seconds." Aya spoke. "I won't!" She giggled when she heard Sayu. "Oh, Sis. Can you drop me?" Sayu asked with a sheepish smiled and Aya nodded. She went to her room and threw on some presentable clothes before heading out with Sayu.

As they were walking, Aya looked at the news. 'More people dead. How is this even happening? And these are all convicts?' She was shaken out of her thoughts by Sayu. "Something wrong? I've been asking you something and calling out for you for a while now." Aya smiled and shook her head.

"Not at all. What were you asking?" She asked and wrapped an arm around the girl's shoulder. "Nothing much. I just asked if you accepted any of the love letters you got yesterday." Aya looked at her with a raised brow and smiled. "No. And I won't any time soon. I don't need that kind of commitment this early in my life." She spoke, making Sayu smile.

"Oh we're here. Bye, sis!" Sayu smiled as she ran in. Her friends bowed to Aya who bowed back before going back home. The case was still on her mind. She wasn't looking where she was going and bumped into someone. "O-Oh I'm sorry. I wasn't looking where I was going." She said and helped the men take the files.

Something caught her eye. She returned the files. "Be careful." The man said. Aya nodded and bowed before he left. Her eyes narrowed as she watched the retreating back of the man.
