CHAPTER 17

Nick’s POV

When I wake up, I am not at Jay’s room. I am at our room.

‘But how did I get here? I didn’t walk sleep right?’ I asked myself.

“Stephen?” I shouted for Stephen to make sure I am not sleeping right at this time.

The door opened and a kid popped up.

“You’re awake kuya Nick!” Stephen ran to me and hug me right away. I hugged him back to make my nervousness ease.

“Who sent me home Stephen?”

“It was kuya Jay and he bought me foods! Lots of foods!” Joy was evident in Stephen’s voice.

“Really? Where is he? Is he still here?”

“He went home already after he put you bed.” My eyes widened at the thought of Jay carrying me an putting me on my bed.

“Have you eaten?”

“Yes! I called the babysitter and let her feed me.” I nodded.

‘That’s right. I still need to pay the babysitter.’ I shook my head as my imagination of Jay putting me on bed.

“Do you want to play with you friends outside?” the kid nodded quickly.

When Stephen got outside, I ran into the bathroom and washed myself. When I checked my clothes, something was ringing on the pockets of my pants. I pulled out the thing on the pocket and saw it was a necklace. A gold necklace with a crystal pendant on it.

“But I never bought a necklace.” Confusion got on me, “it seems very expensive. I could never buy this kind of expensive necklace.” The crystal also seemed real or it’s real. With just the price of the crystal we could live in a better house.

Then my phone ringed. It’s Jay! I answered the phone as it’s maybe an emergency from the company.

“Hello, sir? Is there an emergency on company? I need you to give me a whole hour to prepare my things.”

“No need to prepare your things. It’s on my penthouse. And for the emergency you’re saying, no need to rush cause there’s no emergency at the company. I just called to see if you’re awake now and thankfully you’re awake. How are feeling?” he asked.

“I’m fine. And thanks for bringing me home and for the food you gave to Stephen.” While thanking him, I felt very shy while thanking him.

“It wasn’t just bringing you. I carried your heavy body.”

“JAY!”

“Okay, okay. Just kidding.” He laughed. “Have you seen my gift for you?”

“What do you mean by gift?....” I got confused by what did he meant

‘omg! Did he bought the necklace for me?!’

“Did you mean the necklace that was on my pocket?”

“Yes.”

“But why?”

“It’s a gift from my mom. My ancestors passed it on one another. It is said to be a promise necklace. You give it to someone who you want to have a promise.”

“Why and what you promise to me? I’m not someone special from you family and to…” I paused, “you.”

“You are. And for the promise, it’s a secret for now.”

“Then okay I’ll keep it for now and not wear it, I might misplace it.”

“No. It’s a promise necklace I want you to wear it.”

‘But why would he want to make me wear it? Shouldn’t this be worn by his girlfriend?’ I stared at the necklace.

“Fine then.”

“Good. Then bye for now. I need to do something.” He turned off the call.

“This must be a very precious necklace,” I touched the necklace that was on my neck “it seems to be very expensive.” I opened my drawer and put the necklace on an empty box.

The day passed by like that with Stephen cuddling with me all the time. He said he was missing me all those days that I’ve been gone.

The next day...

I woke up early in the morning to prepare our breakfast and also wash our clothes.

“Stephen! Wake up! You’re going to school today.” I called Stephen. Thankfully, he isn’t a kid that is very hard to wake up. When he’s told to wake up, he wakes up immediately.

“Did you fold your blanket?” He nods. He has a separate room from mine. It’s not that I don’t want him to be near me when I’m sleeping, in fact I want him to be beside me when I wake up. It’s just that I want him to be independent on a young age just like when I will be gone for a few days. I think it’s what most parents wants. For their children to be independent.

I put his milk on the table and serve his breakfast. Seeing him eat the breakfast I made makes me full even though I only drank coffee this morning.

“Did you finish your assignments?” I asked him.

“Yes! The babysitter helped me do the assignment but I did most of it.” He said cheerfully while wiggling his feet under the table.

“Good then. Now, after you eat what do you do?”

“Put the plates on the sink!” I ruffled his hair.

I washed the dishes while Stephen takes a bath. Since he got to go to school he doesn’t let me bath him anymore. But I let him do the bathing cause as I said I want him to be independent.

The door bell suddenly rang.

I checked it who it was and it turns out that it was Jay.

“What are you doing here? Shouldn’t you be at the office already?”

“Woah, calm down. Is that the way you say ‘good morning?’ to others?”

“No, but what exactly are you doing here?” I let him enter the house.

“Driving Stephen to the school and you to the office, why?” He sat comfortably on the couch.

“Nothing, just sit there and I’ll finish the dishes. Okay?” he nods.

“Woah. That’s sexy.” He said in a muffled voice but enough for me to hear.

“Who’s sexy?” I turned around to him.

Since I was only wearing a t-shirt, apron and boxers, I figured that he was talking about me.

“Nothing. Just go.” He gulped.
