A story of Prohibited love, of terrorism and war, and the raw lives of a war-stricken land and its people. Tamina, a 19-year-old girl, survives a turbulent time, and meets a soldier named Jacob, from a land which she had never heard of. Despite being different from each other in all aspects, they find love amidst the war between her country and the budding terrorist organisation, the 'Sharias'. The story depicts her journey into adulthood, her land's unstable future in the hands of foreigners, of the terrorist organisation 'the Sharias' and her love that has been nipped by the cruelty of war and invasion by the foreigners as well as the 'Sharias'. A fiction written without a veil or extension, 'Under the merciless sun' is the raw depiction of those people and lands threatened by war, of foreign invasion and terrorism.

Under the merciless sun

Jacob tossed and turned in his sleep. He was in a dream. Dark clouds were looming over him. He was on the ground. There was sand everywhere. Suddenly a grenade went off beside him and he was thrown off due to the impact. The battle field was so familiar to him. Abandoned barrels and destroyed building. It was the Battle field of Restum and he was fighting the Sharias. Another grenade goes off and he tossed in his sleep. The view of a soldier holding up his shattered leg came into the view. 


‘Colonel Barnes, help me, my leg. It’s gone. Help me’ The soldier was screaming and Jacob ran towards him but he suddenly disappeared into the desert as fine sand. Another soldier screamed past him towards the battlefront and was shot dead.
