CHAPTER 19
Teresa awoke tranquil but tired. During her restless sleep all subconscious battles which were repressed in her psyche in the previous days were fought, full of both favorable expectations and terrors.
She encountered Marcelo at her side, with head bandages and wounds on his face. Realizing that she had awakened he approached and kissed her gently on the forehead and then on the lips; salty tears of both mingled and Teresa felt a sweet warmth in her body.
“What happened to you ?” She asked needlessly him looking at the bandage in his head.
“With the quake large rocks fell all around us, and some stones on top of us. We could come out of the tunnel only because God is great.”
Teresa raised her arm and caressed his face. The two remained silent a long time, relying more on finger sensations than in words to send messages. McPherson came up with a somewhat sad smile.
“How are you?”
