(Chapter 80) The Date Ended

Lewis was tongue-tied, he never expected Astrid to explode the way she did.

At first he was confused, outraged, disappointed. How could Mr and Mrs Tuhs treat their daughter the way they did? It sounded like Astrid had a terrible childhood.

But then he noticed something didn't add up. It sounded like Astrid was an experiment. He was certain that Astrid was never experimented on as a child, Mr and Mrs Tuhs had no knowledge of human biology or Psychology... So what was he listening to?

"I grew up hating my 'parents' I killed for them, I lied for them, I died for them. But my father did nothing. He never praised me. He would reward me with meals. He would reward me with more freedom in the world. He then taught me how to kill the people that were against his experiments. Tell me, is that love? Is that love that you are talking about?" Astrid kept talking.

"No." Lewis replied with a dry mouth. His brain was running at 1000 watts right now. He felt that he had learned much more than he was expecting about Astrid...

"But what do you think of Anya? Of... of- Mr and Mrs. Tuhs?" Lewis asked the question to confirm his outrageous thoughts.

Astrid's angry demeanor changed. As she looked a little lost at Lewis. "I-I feel warm. I was guilty when I left, but I also felt guilty when I received their kindness. Anya- Anya is..." Astrid felt her hands shaking, as she looked down to those dirty, blood-covered palms of hers.

She frantically shook her head. Lewis stood up quickly and engulfed Astrid in a hug. "Astrid. You are an amazing older sister. How many people do you think would love to have a sister as smart, pretty, witty, and cute as you?" Lewis felt that he was watching Astrid break down. He now regretted it, he regretted getting Astrid to drink. He thought it might calm her down and allow her to be more open.

Which it did, but he didn't want this. His heart broke as he watched Astrid start the process of breaking down. Endless amounts of guilt, anger, loneliness. How long had Astrid been pilling these emotions for?

"But I... They are all normal clean people. I kill, I scheme. I find it natural. I took my mother's attendant and trained her to be like me. Yet they still show me their smiles? Their love? How... How can I repay?" Astrid's brain couldn't process the fact Lewis was now hugging her, and she had unconsciously stood up to accept that very hug.

Lewis didn't reply but rubbed her back, her skin was soft and smooth. It had no evidence of injuries, no evidence of going through any training.

"Astrid. That, is what family do. They love you. They always have done. They searched the world far and wide to try and treat your illness. Any person in their position would do the same." Lewis spoke into her ear in a whisper. He felt that the years bringing up Leone had paid off.

Astrid's body then seemed to lose some energy. "But-But... I'm not even their dau..." Astrid couldn't say it, as her voice was cut short by her mouth being covered.

Lewis couldn't stand it. He was smart. He also believed in science. With all he had heard from a drunk Astrid, he found it hard to believe. But he must. Astrid was the one he had fallen in love with, if he didn't believe her. What a jerk he was...

Astrid felt her lips being covered by Lewis's moist ones. She froze, as Lewis pulled away gently. "Listen. They. Love. YOU. You're a glutton, you struggle to show your emotions, you are a picky eater. You are a powerful businesswoman. You are a dangerous head of a mafia. Everything. But. They. Love YOU. Not the person you were before. That person is no longer with us. Only you, right now, matters to them." Lewis cupped Astrid's face in his hands. Talking directly to her face.

Astrid was silent. As she processed what she heard. "I. Love. YOU. Not the person before. But YOU, at this moment." Lewis then put her head down on to her shoulder. She was too tall to be placed without putting her head down.

"I... I..." Astrid was panicking, she was feeling an emotion she hadn't felt before. What was it...

"Astrid? Why are you in a panic? Why are you so afraid? Trust me. You said it yourself, I have a line of women waiting for me." Lewis made Astrid's face momentarily shift.

"But still. I have never touched them, I don't care about them. I don't know their names, I don't know their faces. I. Love. You. You can trust me... You trust people Astrid." Lewis then pulled her away, and put his forehead against hers.

"I-I...... You basically were proposed to though." Astrid spoke in a whisper.

Lewis sighed and smiled at Astrid. "Silly, I wouldn't accept anything from a random woman. You are the one in my eyes. You have been occupying my dreams ever since I met you the first time. I first thought of you as a potential threat to Leone. But after knowing you were friends. I instead tried to get to know you better... I... Thought Leone was interested in you. No... I looked into you because I had become interested in you at first sight."

"You are the only woman for me. No one would fill me eyes but you." Lewis confessed, as he then saw something that made his heart stir.

Astrid... Cried, tears started to fall from her eyes. How could she say it? He kept himself pure. Clean. While look at her. Just the other day...

Astrid hiccuped, as she felt her body weaken. "B-b-b-but... I... Am not... A virgin." Here Lewis, had waited years for her to come back to the country. While he was openly confessing his love for her. And she had only recently gone ahead and fallen to her lust with others...

Lewis was a little surprised. He struggled to think Astrid would be in a bed situation, especially when she barely could handle a date. But then he sighed. "Astrid. Did you love those men?" Lewis asked as he tried to wipe away the tears on Astrid's cheeks. He hated himself. He had made the date into a disaster. He made Astrid cry and doubt herself.

Astrid shook her head. "I...I... Fell into my lust... I... Had used my body as a way to expand..." Lewis was immediately worried.

"What do you mean?" Lewis was worried, was she selling herself for shares? What was she doing? How could anyone who knew what she was doing allow her to continue? Was this why she called herself dirty? Why she refused the notion of love so much?

Astrid was now defeated. She didn't want to talk about it. She really didn't. She felt inferior to Lewis. The man legitly raised his business to the top. While she quickly used disgusting methods. The way she would use her body to attract shareholders. Then kill them, transacting their shares under her name. She honestly was the dirt that Lewis stood on.

Lewis noticed how Astrid went silent. He realized he probably asked too much too quickly. He looked down and saw her with her eyes closed. Breathing weakly.

He deeply sighed. What an experience. What a failure of a first date. He took out his phone and called the manager of the restaurant.

"H-Hello Master Guilliano." The manager answered the phone with a panicked heart.

"Me and my wife will be going home. Make sure to package the other meals to the address left." Lewis didn't have the energy to realize the Manager's stuttering.

"Understood." The manager quickly hung up. His face had a slight blush, as he quickly threw away the thought in his head.

He might have walked in when Master Guilliano and that woman were having an intimate moment. He thought he would be getting a phone call for him being fired. But luckily for his pure soul, they didn't notice him...

Lewis gently bent down and lifted Astrid by her legs. They were long, beautiful and smooth. Despite his blood circulating already being in one spot. He stoically carried her. As he felt she was quite heavy, most likely because of her height and well...

Lewis closed his eyes with guilt. He was the worse... He couldn't help but gaze at the large mountain peaks that were in front of him. He then saw the spare table cloth on the trolley, so he covered Astrid with it and felt much more comfortable.
