A New Team 8 Pt.I

Through the lands of storms, stone, birds, claws, and fangs, we traveled. We encountered a few bandits now and then. One group tried to attack us just to fuck Kurenai sensei and me. It was truly a vile world. Though, I didn't mind as I took their money once they were down.

Kurenai sensei didn't kill any of the bandits, and I soon realized that she was waiting on us to fight with the intent to kill. After a few days of travel, we arrived in the land of bears, where the old geezer led us to his village.

"I'm Mika, and this is my husband Tora." the woman spoke.

"Well, Mika, we're here to help. Can you tell the details of your son's disappearance? Anything that you think can help our search." Said Kurenai.

We then spent the next hour listening to a long-winded story that provided us three details at most. The kid went missing over a week ago in a place called devil's ravine. He was also with an orphan boy named Kai.

"Can you tell us more about this Devil's Ravine?" I ask Mika.

"It's filled with poisonous gas. But it holds many treasures. As you can probably tell, we aren't a rich village. And we suffer many raids a year. Scavagining in the ravine with a way to earn enough money to find a new life elsewhere." Mika explained.

Obviously, this mission just jumped a few ranks.

"Okay. That's more than enough information to get us started." Said Kurenai as she rose to her feet.

We said our goodbyes and left the home of the distraught parents.

"What do you think, Kurenai Sensei?"

She looks at me and says, "It's a good thing we have you and Shino."

"What do you mean, Sensei?"

"Those parents were placed in a genjutsu."

I was shocked. Shino and Kiba were shocked. Like the Sharingan, my Byakugan wasn't a discrete technique. Using it on grieving parents would also send off red flags. Now that we were outside. I activated my Byakugan and didn't have to turn around to see that the grieving parents and a few of the other villagers were placed in Genjutsu. The 360-degree vision was a really useful thing.

"Genjutsu? why?" Kiba asked.

"I don't know. But Shino, I need you to use the same technique you used during the bell test. Turning everything around us into your playground. Hinata, use your Byagukan to keep and on things. Kiba, use the boy's clothes and sniff him out." Kurenai issued orders.

When Kiba caught a pair of the boy's socks and underwear, we all scattered. Leaping from tree to tree, he made our way to the location of the Devil's Ravine. However, we weren't stupid enough to go in.

"Sensei, I'm finished." Said Shino.

I smirk at him at his insect dispersal was a lot fast than it was during the bell test. He really had been training. He probably bred a new species too.

"Sensei, I lost the trail. It's more like the trail lost me. The boy's scent is everywhere. Mom said this happens when some want to lose their tail. It confuses our dogs." Kiba explained.

Kurenai frowned then glared at me. My Byakugan was already active. I looked into the Devil's Ravine and saw many people moving around down there. I suddenly felt like Kiba. But I also felt that the boy wasn't missing but kidnapped.

"Sensei, it's no good. There are too many people down there. What now?" I ask.

"First lesson of search and rescue. If it feels like a trap--"

"It's a trap!" Shino shouted as his swarm of beetles created a wall to protect us from flying paper bomb kunai.

"Stealth Shinobi!" I add as their chakra output was the size of a candle flame. They were easily missed even for a Byakugan user like me.

A moment later, two shinobi appeared next to Kurenai and nearly took her out. With the Flying Thunder God Technique, I appear by Kurenai and fire off two air palms.

"Iwa!" I sneer as I noticed the uniforms.

"Sorry, guys! I have to bail!" Shino shouted as he lept in the air and his swarm collided with a swarm of bees.

"Fang over Fang!" Kiba shouted as he barreled at to incoming shinobi.

I then follow up with a flash step to engage a shinobi that dogged Kiba's attacks. I take my gentle fist stance.

"Eight Trigrams! Reaper Palm!" I shout as I strike out, attacking Chakra nodes until the opening emerged. With two fingers, I caused the man's heart to explode. Riding the flow like an eastern dragon, I spun on my heels and sent an air palm, nocking a shinobi into the collision of bees and beetles.

I created the reaper to defect and kill. The purpose wasn't to block chakra flow but to completely destroying the chakra system by inserting my chakra into the enemy. From that point, my chakra runs rampant, and the moment the opportunity arises, I send a burst of chakra into their vital organs or a headshot to end the fight.

Kurenai sensei stepped up and smashed together several hand seals before shouting. "Genjutsu: Bringer-of-Darkness Technique"

I watched as the number of enemies shinobi approaching suddenly stopped.

"Retreat!" Kurenai shouted.

The team didn't hesitate. But I sneered and used the opportunity to dispatch anyone I saw frozen with blank expressions. But suddenly, the Old Man the guided us appeared attempted to kick me with a lightning-coated leg.

I formed a hand sign then appeared next to Kurenai. Looking around, we were already miles away from the ambush. Each of us panting. I more so than the rest as I almost died.

"What the hell was that?!" Kiba shouted.

"An ambush. It's my fault. I thought you three were ready. I should have taken the D-rank mission the Hokage offered. Damit!" Kurenai slapped herself and pulled on her hair. "I'm a failure as Sensei. I keep hurting kids! It's all my fault!"

Pah! I had to slap her.

"Kurenai Sensei!" I yell at her, "We aren't dead yet! But if you break down, we will be. This life is dangerous, and we all knew it would be, but we're still here. We're a team of shinobi in a vile world. If you live in the past, the present will kill, but none of us expect to have a future --It's a hazard of the life we choose. Kurenai Sensei, I trust you with my life."

"Me too." Said Shino.

"Me three." Kiba firmly added, followed by Akamaru's little bark.

We watch as Kuernai's shoulder's relaxed. "I'm sorry..." she said.

She didn't have to be. Honestly, I think everything is my fault. In the canon, she was so worried about Hinata's safety she must have taken the D-rank mission that she mentioned. In a mission like this, Kiba would have bragged about it to Naruto. But my change and influence on the guys must have prompted Kurenai to take a higher rank mission after the other rookie teams leveled up.

It's also true that Kurenai Sensei was playing things save in the canon because she failed the last time she took on a student. I forgot how jacked up Team 8 is. But if we survive this, maybe Kurenai Sensei will gain some confidence.

"Sensei...What do we do?" I ask Kurenai.

"We find a way to make out the Land of Bears. But we can't go towards the Land of Earth." Said Kurenai.

"What are they after. We're just a bunch of genin." Said Kiba.

"But Hinata has the Byakugan. You have a special breed of ninja dog, and Shino's clan has the best breed of insects in the shinobi world. All three of your clans usually take on tracking and search and rescue missions." Kurenai explained.

"But there's no way they could have expected all three of us to show," said Shino. "My clan usually works alone, just like the Hyuga and Inuzuka."

"They didn't expect all three of us." I say, "The stealth, wild scent, and bees. They were prepared for any of us. But the three of us are a gold mine. They won't let us leave."

"But the ambush is over. Now, we identify our targets and strike. Shino, stick to swarm techniques to control the enemy. Kiba, you crush them. Hinata, you take anyone caught in my genjutsu. Let's keep it simple and get home."

Now I'm not going to oversimplify things. But everything was very fast-paced. They wanted our village secrets and were keen on killing us. I don't plan on losing my eyes or life. Needless to say, life or death risks were the only risks that were going to get us home.

We sped through the woods until we hit a wall of bees. Kurenai shouted for us to push on as she rushed ahead and used a technique she obviously got from her secret boyfriend. I watched as she spewed chakra-infused ash from her mouth. She then snapped her jaw shut, and the swarm of bees combusted into flames.

I quickly fire five air palms to blow through the wall of fire. The team slipped through the wall of fire only to meet a trail of stringed ninja wire. In an instant, Kurenai and I swapped places, and I drew my ninjato to cut open a path. Fuck! I love the Byakugan. But not the blind spot.

A Kunoichi launched from a tree like a bullet. The moment her kunai touched my head. A swarm of insects hit her like a hammer, swallowed her then dropped a Skelton on the ground.

My heart was pounding, and I looked at Shino with thankful eyes. I then noticed that Shino was a rarity as his first kill left him unfazed.

"Keep going!" Shouted Kurenai.

When she got to my side, she said, "When we get back, we're going to talk about where you learned that Jutsu."

"The same place you learned Bringer of Darkness," I reply.

"Alright, smartass." Kurenai sneered. "Who knows that you learned it?"

"Lord Hokage probably, and Naruto was there, but you know he's a bit slow on the take."

Kurenai giggled. "You're too smart for your own good. Keep that Jutsu hidden well."

"We have company, Sensei."

Kurenai looks around. " I have a plan," she says.

A moment later, I created two shadow clones and mark Shino and Kiba with my Flying Thunder God mark. The next moment I send my shadow clones ahead, marking everything they touch.

Kurenai pulls out two tantos held in reverse grips.

"Man-Beast Clone!" Kiba shouted.

"Move to kill boys! Just trust that I can guide you home!" I shout.

"You sure you can do this?" Kurenai asked me as she began to realize how much pressure her plan put on me.

"Positive!" I reply.

At that moment, we stopped running and went on the offensive. One of my shadow clones kept moving, while the second created another shadow clone and stopped to fight with us.

"Eight Trigrams! Flying Thunder God Revolution!" I just came up with the name on the spot, and I am loving it!

"Spindle Formation!"

"Fang over Fang!"

"Rip Tide!"

Everyone activated their Jutsu just before they blipped away. In an instant, we appeared by targets all chosen by me and my two clones. With three Byakugan users, there were no blinds spots on the battlefield. However, it was taxing on my chakra and took a lot to maintain this high-speed slingshot technique. But as long as the team within the Eight Trigrams, I could manage.

There was nothing special about the eight trigrams. It only serves a scale of distance, and anything outside the boundary would take too much chakra to maintain for a prolonged period of time.

The balance of this technique is delicate as every time I replaced myself with a teammate, I appeared and had to immediately counter a death stroke. In contrast, my teammates were always sent to an unexpecting target. Shino left skeletons and half-eaten bodies throughout the woods. Kiba's Jutsu utterly crushed enemy shinobi if they weren't ground to a pulp first.

Kurenai and I were the bloodiest as we killed with blades like slashers with a vengeance.

"Dancing leaf whirlwind!" My body moved on the wind. My opponent burst like a popped balloon, and blood rained down on me. This technique fully mastered was equivalent to death by ten thousand cuts. Right now, I could only manage fifty. If it were for my Byakugan, I would have to hope that the random cuts were fatal.

At the moment, The team and I appeared six miles away, and all of my shadow clones dissipated.

Shino appeared with his hands in his pocket. Kurenai cut a tree in half while Kiba and Akamaru crashed into the ground. I don't know what happened after that as the world went black and I collapsed.

When I woke up, the team and I were on a boat dressed in rags. Everything smelled of seawater, and the waves were a bit aggressive, causing the ship to rock without remorse.

"Hinata-chan, you're awake," said Shino.

I took a deep breath and look around. To my left, Kurenai Sensei was unconscious while Kiba was bandaged up with his arm in a sling to my right.

"W-what happened?" I asked.

"We almost didn't make it. Kurenai Sensei handed you to us and told us to run." said Shino, "It was the old man that hired us. He...He was heinous. We couldn't leave Kurenai Sensei... Before it was over, Kurenai Sensei sacrificed herself to get my insects on him. But before they took him down, Kiba was nearly killed."

I sigh at the state of the team, then push myself up. I look over Kurenai Sensei, then used what little medical techniques I had to help her heal. But I couldn't do much as my chakra wasn't fully replenished.

"Where are we going, Shino?"

"Land of the Jungle. From there, it's a clear shot to the land of Fire," he replied.

"That's insane, Shino. The Waterfall shinobi will have our heads if they find out we're there."

'We can't go there. We'll die,' I thought. I take a deep breath and calm myself.

"So be it." I finally say. I then turned over and got to sleep.

As long as I continue to be a kunoichi, change will come because I'm different from the original Hinata. This mission is just the first of many.

Sometime later, Shino shook me awake, and I was feeling loads better.

"We're here." Said Shino. Together we carried Kurenai Sensei, and Kiba carried Akamaru. Moving past the dock, we found an Inn and decided to hold up there. The last thing I wanted was to run into more enemy shinobi.

A few weeks passed as I healed Kiba and Kurenai Sensei. It was a long process as I was nowhere near good enough to administer treatment. But I had no choice. I need a full team.

Shino, Kiba, and I were eating short ribs in the Inn when Kurenai Sensei finally came down. Kurenai Sensei had been stabbed in the abdomen. I had to heal her from the inside out. She was in and out of consciousness for a while, so it was good to see her on her feet.

Kurenai took her seat, and I slid a plate of short ribs to her. She flashed a warm smile and began to dig in. When she was finished, she started laughing hysterically, and it was quite creepy.

"Uhh, Sensei, are you alright?" Kiba asked her.

"Fantastic. You kids did fantastically." she said, "I'm proud of all of you."

"We wouldn't have made it without Hinata-chan. The thing she did, flashing us around like that. They never saw us coming."

I giggle at my praise. "But Shino saved us all. He got on the ship, and his bugs took down the old man." I added.

"We survived because we were a team." Said Kurenai, "And we'll make it home as a team...So, where are we?"

"Land of the Jungles," I tell her.

Kurenai sighed when she heard me. Her reaction was almost as dramatic mine.

"Then we need to do some training, and I need to heal up a bit longer. Hinata, show your teammates how to climb a tree and walk on water. If we have time after that. Sho them how to apply their chakra to enhance themselves." Kurenai ordered.

Her eyes looked at us differently. Her gaze was urgent and intense. The fear of breaking us was gone. For the first time, I saw Kurenai, my Jonin Sensei, and not the hot, sad babe from anime.

"What are you going to be doing, Sensei?" I ask.

"Securing passage to the Land of Fire. I also need to send word to the Hokage about what's happening." Kurenai put her napkin on her plate then left to handle her tasks.

"I guess we should find a place to train?"

"Hell yeah." said Kiba, "You up for it, Akamaru?"

The little dog produced an energetic bark.

"We can also practice our combination techniques to take the pressure off of you, Hinata," Shino added.

Awww, so consider it: a beast and a gentleman. I really like this team. But I have to keep focused. Besides, this baby body just isn't ready for that kind of stuff yet.

"Thank you, Shino." I cooed with a cute smile. Of course, I was teasing.

"But for now, we should just focus on you two," I added with a caring tone.

After paying for our meal, the three of us leave the Inn and head out to find a secluded area.
