Her wOrds or her LiPs?

'Where does it hurt?' Kai asked.

The surprise of seeing him here lasted only for a few seconds then she was hit by another wave of hurt and groaned in pain.

'Leave me alone.'

'Upset stomach?'

Amaris had no time to indulge him, so she made a face at him and then turned around taking the bottle with her moving it to rest it at the right place. Sighing at the momentary relief she closed her eyes, totally ignoring the guy standing beside her.

Kai had a clear look at the object she was holding and then it hit him like lightning. His face heated up a bit as he realized that she was on her period.

As to why he knows that he has a younger sister. Once in a month, she will turn crazy. Her complaints would increase her mood pointer would be on all-time furious. She would demand everyone around her to pamper her like a princess as if he already did not do that enough. He would bring her chocolates, her favorite skittles, and hot water bottles.

He loved her sister to death. She looked so much like mom. Everyone cared for her like crazy, including him.

So when he saw this he was reminded of these things.

Kai had no idea where to go from here. With frustration, he sighed and left after telling her to have a good rest.

Amaris heard him but chose to stay silent. What could she say to him? Nothing comes to her mind moreover how did he know that she was here?

All these questions left her mind as another bout of pain assaulted her.

Kai left the room and then reached the gym. He wanted to see who would be playing the victim card. To his delight it was Drake. He was pretending to hurt his ankle as the nurse fussed with the spray.

It was time to get back at him.

'Suzzie, how did you hurt your leg?' He shouted and made an attempt to go out. Drake was startled when he heard what Kai said. It did not cross his mind that he could be lying.

Forgetting about his injury he ran out. While Kai followed in with a sorry face. He looked at the red face nurse and immediately apologized.

'I am sorry, Mam. It was my friend's idea to play it like that. I did not agree and exposed him. Nevertheless, I am sorry that I lied to you. Forgive me, Mam.'

Rudy had his jaw drop out which seems to be touching the floor.

Kai was apologizing. Not once, but twice and with so much sincerity. What in the world was happening!

Drake came back when he could not find Suzzie. He wanted to ask Kai where was she but stopped in his track when he saw the nurse. Only then he realized that he was supposed to be with a hurt ankle.

'It does not hurt anymore. You work miracles, Mam.' Drake tried to act nonchalantly but unfortunately, it did not work.

'In my office, NOW.' The nurse said sternly and left.

When they finally left Rudy got back his senses and asked what it was all about and most importantly what about his ride?

At the mention of his baby, Kai shot him a nasty glare.

'You are lucky I am letting you go.'

'Was she not hurt?' Rudy asked feeling confused.

'It's... it's... her periods.' Kai uttered the last word with much difficulty and it was more of like a whisper, having said that he quickly left. He had places to go to.

Rudy registered what Kai said and laughed out loud. No wonder, Drake was punished. Although the information was not wrong it was not right either. Rudy hardly contained his laughter but when an image of embarrassed Kai came to his mind and how he discovered it, he once again burst into laughter.

Poor Kai, and poor Drake. Rudy felt that he was indeed lucky. But then once again he lost his chance to finally get the ride. Realizing his loss his chuckles left and he too went out to look for Drake. He wondered what punishment he would get for making trouble with the nurse.

Kai had left the school. He quickly went to the nearest mart and looked for the chocolate section. Yup, he was here to buy chocolates for her.

Every girl likes that, his sister does. He has no idea of what her favorite would be though. She looked milk chocolate kind of girl. But dark chocolate helps with cramps. When he could not decide between the two he took one from each and them some more.

Not everyone knows that he has a sweet tooth.

He took a few more things and went back to school. He had no fear of getting caught because, first, he did not care even if he got detention. Second, today because he helped out the coach, the scary gorilla had already informed their class teachers if they could not attend their classes because of the long practice sessions.

It was their luck that the practice ended early.

Kai quickly reached the nurse's room hoping that the nurse was not around and Amaris was still here. He still has a few minutes till the school gets over.

Kai turned the knob, to his relief there was no nurse, so he quickly went in and to the bed hidden by the curtain.

She was still here.

Kia took a moment to check her face and to his delight, she looked a bit better. He cleared his throat loudly making her open her eyes.

'It's you again.' Amaris was feeling a bit better. So when she saw that it was him she did not outright shoo him away. She got curious about how he looked. He seemed a bit nervous, why tough?

'Feeling better?' Kai inquired.

'A little.' Amaris thought of something. Did he know that she was on her period? She decided to tease him.

'But the cramps are irregular, they come and go without thinking of my condition. Being a girl is so difficult, especially at times like these.' She finished it off with a pout.

Kai was stunned to silence and his heart skipped a beat when he saw her pouting lips. He could not decide what should he focus on first, her words or her lips?

He deiced to go for the former because if he chose the latter one he was not sure if he would leave here with his limbs intact. He has seen her sister's temper when she is on her periods. He could feel the numbness on his left wrist till now.

'I will drop you off after school is over.' Kai said and as if on cue the bell rang.

He gave her a smug smile that showed see even the universe wants her to go with him.

Amaris had this urge to rip off that smile but she controlled it. She contemplated for a while, cab or him?

Spending money or a free ride?

It was a no-brainer question.

'Fine, but only if you drive very slowly.' She warned.

Kai felt that the atmosphere turned better. He could smell the fresh air and happiness that came with it.

'Let's go.' He said enthusiastically and waited for her to get down from the bed. He had the intention to grab her hand when she walked by but quickly changed his mind when she shot him a warning glare.

He needs to behave, at least for now.

Amaris sent a message to Suzzie telling her that she was now feeling better and has already left school. She needs not worry about her and they would meet tomorrow.

Moments later they arrived at the parking, Amaris looked at the death ride and thought if she should consider spending money after all. This does not look safe. Although, she wanted to ride a bike once in her life, when the opportunity is finally here she is hesitating.

Periods, bike, potholes, she does not look forward to this equation at all. Can she say no now?

'Listen, Chris, I don't think that I should go with you.'

Kai has seen her expression and was aware that she might say this. But who the hell is Chris?

'It's Kai. You have a problem with remembering my name?' he asked feeling irritated.

'Not specifically yours, I mix up names of almost everyone, unless it's been some time that I know a person and gradually learns his/her name.' Hearing her explanation he feels a bit better.

'Hop-on, I will be careful.'

With another not so sure glance Amaris mustered up her courage and got behind him.

'Hold tight, here we go.'

The engine roared and they were off. Amaris had her eyes closed off for a while but when she finally felt the wind in her hair she opened them. The feeling was not so bad. Moments later her fear subsided and she eventually loosened her hand.

Earlier she had a death grip on his jacket, she wondered if that hurt him. He did not complain though.

Her impression of him changed a little. He really drove carefully. She kept on telling him directions, about fifteen minutes later they arrived at the front of the orphanage.

Amaris got off, handed him the helmet, and thanked him. She was about to walk away when she heard him calling her name.

Kai motioned her to come here and when she was near. He stretched out her hand and then put the package in her and drove off without looking backward.

If he had taken off his helmet Amaris would have noticed his slightly red ears. It was a pity that she had missed this opportunity.
