Boy Toy

"What boy?" Said her mom looking serious. Rain pleadingly looked at Shaneil begging her not to say anything to her mom. Rain already knew her mom was not going to take it well. Or so she thought.

"This new guy who came to our school. He is into her. He asked her on a date and she told him...she'd think about it. Wait, no she said "I'll Think about it," then she agreed to go out with him. Now we are waiting on him to pick the spot. But! She still is hesitating," Shaneil gossiped ignoring the look on Rain's face.

"That's a lot." Rain's mom commented. Shaneil nodded her head in agreement. "Rainy is like the most confused person right now. I don't understand it. I would just go for it." Shaneil stated boldly. Rain shot her another glare.

"And why is it that you won't?" Her Mother asked Rain. Here we go. Rain thought silently vowing vengeance on Shaneil later. "Mom I don't know him. Honestly, I'm scared." Rain admitted.

"Scared? Girl do you like him or not?" Shaneil asked fed up. "Wait a minute Shaneil. Rain when did you even start liking boys. I thought it was school and work fou. Besides, I thought you liked—" Rain quickly interjected.

"That's just a friend. " Rain started making Shaneil arch a brow curiously. Getting up from the couch and going up the steps Rain made a quick getaway before they could force her to talk about her feelings.

Rain really was going to hurt Shaneil later. The last thing she needed was for her mother to get involved in her relationship. It was not that she didn't want to date Tye, it was just that Darnell's words to her earlier caught her off guard. Whenever he was around him, something bad happened. Rain could not deny the chemistry between the two of them was real but she wanted to be careful and just take her time thinking. Although, she already promised Tye an answer.

Closing the door in her room and locking it, Rain took a seat on her bed, while pulling out her phone going through the messages. Rain let out a laugh at the meme Darnell sent her a 1hr ago before responding to him. She then strolled down to Tye's contact. Rain knew she should really make up her mind. At this point, it looked as though she was leading him on.

Rain: Hey, you awake?

TyeDye: Yeah, it's early why wouldn't I be 👀

Rain: Oh so I have been thinking. When are we going out?

TyeDye: I'm actually happy you asked me that. Because I was just about to let you know….

Rain: Tell me!!!!!

TyeDye: It's going to be Friday at 5 pm. Were going to the movies and then maybe to get some food?????

Rain: That would be cool 😄

TyeDye: Something light and simple you know

Rain: Ik talk to you soon

TyeDye: Later Kid

Rain let out a small screech of excitement and threw herself in her pillows. It was something about Tye that Rain just couldn't let go of. His demeanor from the way he walked and spoke just called out to her. It was almost kind of scary at how fast the attraction towards him began to happen. When they first met it just felt as though everything was meant to be.

Shaneil opened Rain's room door causing Rain to straighten up quickly. Arching a brow Shaneil looked at Rain with suspicion deep in her eyes. "What are you so happy about?"

"Absolutely nothing Shay. Why did you tell my mom about Tye? I wasn't ready for her to know." Rain said changing the topic of conversation. Shaneil let out a sheepish smile. "Honest mistake. Feel free to punish me however you please, madam." Shaneil stated kneeling on the ground dramatically. Throwing a pillow at Shaneil's face, Rain rolled over on the bed ignoring her.

"Seriously, I appreciate the concern and all but please refrain from telling my mom anything related to my dating life. It's awkward." Rain stated. "Yeah, okay I got it Raindrop. Anyways, I have to go soon. My Papa is getting off work early today and you know how he gets." Shaniel sighed.

Rain grimaced. "Did he ever go to the doctor for that check-up?" Shaneil shook her head. "You know he should really go do that right. I don't want to be that person but Shaneil he's getting older and-" Shaneil cut her off.

" I really don't want to talk about that right now," Shaneil said frowning. Standing up she grabbed her bag off the ground and walked towards the door. " Look, I'm going to head out. Enjoy your time with your momma."

Walking out the door they both called their goodbyes while Rain flopped down on the bed again full of frustration.

Later that Night

"Rain!" Her mom called waking her out of her sleep.

"Girl, come down here! I want to talk to you about something." She called again.

Groaning, Rain sluggishly got out of bed confused. It was nighttime and the forecast predicted rain accurately so seeing as it was heavily wetting the ground causing a cool breeze to spread outside and into Rain's open window. Slipping on her house slipper's Rain headed downstairs while her mother kept calling urgently.

'This better be important.' Rain thought. At the bottom of the staircase, Rain saw Momma and her Mother both smiling creepily and got bad premonition. " What are you doing here?" She asked hesitantly.

"You should've told me," Momma said mysteriously. Confused Rain turned towards her mom looking for answers. "Oh, it's nothing. I just called Momma here to discuss your little "boy problem." This is so exciting!" Her mom exclaimed. Momma walked towards Rain guiding her towards the couch.

Looking at Momma's twinkling hazel eyes. Rain knew this was going to be a long night.
