The rescue

A month had passed since Björn had been sailing in the wide sea, alongside those women. In this month the young man had already learned a little of his language and understood it a little better, which made it easier for him to do the tasks assigned. He knew that when the captain yelled:

-Moppu! - which means mop in Japanese.

He had to clean the deck. If he yelled:

-Rōpu! - Rope in Japanese.

He already knew that he had to hoist the ship's sails. The most important thing for Björn was when they yelled:

-Shokumotsu! -Food in Japanese.

He knew that was going to eat, the best time of the day for Björn.

One day when the sea was calm and there was no wind to blow the sails of the ship. All the crew members decided to go down to check their merchandise and all the money they made in the last sales. They were checking that everything was in perfect condition. The young Viking wondered what was kept in that area of the ship, so he decided to go investigate a bit. He followed them without their noticing. When he looked out to see what those merchants were carrying around the world. He observed many sets of porcelain with an Asian appearance, spices and herbs, fabrics of all sizes, colors, and textures, kitchen knives with a rare style, and finally, he observed high-quality metals used to create weapons and armor. When he looked around the place he observed all those objects that he had never seen in his life, they were from a different place where they used a lot of decoration, but he knew they were worth a fortune and if it damaged something they would throw it at the sharks

Then a wave hit the ship. Which rocked a bit, enough to make Björn slip and make a lot of noise, so much so that the whole ship heard it. Making his presence known. All the women turned quickly and saw that he was following them. Everything was in absolute silence, the only thing that could be heard was the hyperventilation of the young man when he realized that he had been discovered. Björn was afraid of what was going to happen to her. At that moment he was approached by one of the women who were with the captain. She leaned a little in front of him, noted that he hadn't hurt himself, and picked him up. Björn was confused by what had happened, he did not expect that answer. The women were nice to him. They took him around the place and showed him in more detail everything there was. Then they walked to a chest, a chest so large that it almost reached Björn's chest, the chest was filled with a lot of gold and jewels. He had never seen such a trusting act of practically unknown people. After that, he felt part of them and was moved. So he wanted to make a gesture of respect to them, he placed his fist on his chest right where his heart was. Letting the women understand that he was grateful for giving them that confidence.

Days after that event, they had more confidence in young Björn, so they entrusted him with more work. One of those was to make an inventory of the supplies that were left on the ship. One day when the boy did the inventory and saw what was left, he went to tell the captain. After that, the captain went to talk to the one who was second in command. They were discussing whether that amount would be enough for the remaining days of travel. They could not eat little because later they would not have enough energy to do all the jobs. Seeing what was happening, the captain decided it was time to make a stop to resupply her supplies. The captain made a joke:

-If we run out of food we will have to eat the boy. That would be a shame, I'm already catching him, honey. HAHAHA! -Said the captain as she laughed and put her hand on her stomach.

Björn, knowing very little of his language, only understood that they were going to eat him, which made him nervous. Then he saw that afterward they were laughing and he understood that it was a joke or maybe not ...

The master told the entire crew to get ready to run aground at the nearest port to resupply their supplies. She asked the tired young Viking to accompany them to help buy supplies and get off the ship for a while.

After a few hours, they reached the port of Pevek, Russia. They all took some swords and kept them in their sheaths which were tied to their belt and others carried crossbows. Young Björn was only given a small and simple ax, it was not one of the Vikings that he was used to using but it would still serve him in case he needed to defend himself.

Not all the women got off, only 5, the captain and Björn. They were in charge of doing all the negotiations with the merchants of the port and the young man was just standing there watching without understanding what they were doing. One of her crew told her that she will accompany her to find the water cargo to save time and leave faster, Björn delightedly accompanied her, despite being very tired of her. After having walked for a while, they were already close to the place where they were going to fetch water. But something happened that they didn't expect to happen. Suddenly they heard a very strange noise and followed by the cry of a girl, it was not heard very far there. Björn felt the need to go to the place where he heard the scream, he wanted to see what happened, but he thought it would be better not to get into trouble. But before he realized the girl he was hanging with, he pulled her shirt sleeve to go running to help the girl who had screamed. When they arrived at the place they realized that they were two drunken men trying to beat a girl for stealing bread. In that, the sailor who observed her event drew her sword and threatened the men saying:

"Let go of the girl or her least concern will be that piece of bread!" -said the sailor while she put the sword on the back of that man.

Björn seeing what was happening sighed and took his strong ax with both hands

-Let it go or I will vent all the anger that I have inside with you- Björn said as he looked at the men and trembled with fear for not knowing what would happen.

The men did not understand anything of what the young Viking said since Björn could not speak Russian. After that, the men pounced on Björn and the sailor. The young man remembered everything he had trained with his father, these poor drunken men were nothing to him. The young Viking dodged the blows like nothing else while the sailor beat up the other man. Björn to save energy and since he did not want to kill the man he only hit him on the head with the back of the ax. He delivered a strong blow that hit the drunk's forehead causing it to break. The man fell unconscious on the ground. Björn turned to see the sailor, he had already defeated the other man. One of them got up quickly, shot out, and yelled:

-They're going to pay me! -said the man as he ran as he could.

Björn came over to see the man who attacked him, as he hit him with great force and wanted to make sure he was still breathing. The boy verified that he was still alive and left him on the ground to his fate. They observed that the girl is hiding behind a barrel and approached to see how she was. The woman gently pulled it out as she told him they would take her to a safe place to heal her wounds and her bruises. Suddenly Björn heard another noise and turned around quickly thinking that more men were coming to avenge the beating they had given the drunks, but it was only the man who had run away dragging the other man who was lying on the ground. Björn only gave a small laugh when he saw that poor man trying to take the other one. He looked like a person dragging a sack of potatoes.

After what happened they took the girl to the boat and began to treat her wounds. Moments later they tell the captain what happened and she goes to where the girl is and watches her. The first thing she said was:

-Why did they bring the girl to the ship? - Asked the captain a little annoyed.

"She had been attacked by 2 drunk men for a simple piece of bread," replied the sailor who rescued the girl.

The captain, after hearing that, crouched in front of the girl and saw her directly in the eyes. A chill runs through her little body, but she did not take her gaze from her, showing that she was not afraid of him.

-Do you have a family member with whom we can take you? -Said the captain while she stared into the girl's eyes.

The girl still trembling with fear nodded her head.

At that moment the captain decided to take hers with her family, but she did not know who she was or where she was, so she asked the girl again.

-We will take you to your family, but I need you to tell me where they are. - Said the captain.

- I don't live that far. I don't know the name of the place but I can take them there. - Said the girl with a trembling voice.

- We will stay in the port one more day. As soon as sunrise we will take the girl to her house. -The captain told her crew.

The girl before going to sleep I decided to thank young Björn for saving hers.

-Spasibo za spaseniye menya -Thanks for saving me, the girl said in Russian to Björn.

Björn, not knowing Russian, did not understand her, but he realized from her that she was saying something important to him. Young Björn called a sailor who knew a little of her language and told her to translate what the little girl was saying. The sailor as she could explain to Björn that she thanked him for the girl. The young Viking felt joy inside him to know that. Then Björn leans over a little and puts her hand on the girl's head and smiles at her. The little girl smiles back at him. Despite everything she had experienced that day, she was smiling with an angelic face.

After that Björn went to sleep. He lay down and put both hands behind his head. He saw the wooden ceiling, gave a yawn followed by a peaceful sigh. Then fell into a deep sleep.

Hours passed. The moon and the stars illuminated the immense ocean and the cold night caressed the waves of the sea, while they collided with the hull of the ship.

The crash of the waves was so gentle that it rocked the ship like a cradle. As delicate as a mother cradling her child in her arms.

As soon as the first ray of sunlight peeked through the ship's window, the captain rang the bell. It was time to wake up, everyone got up fast, even the girl. They made arrangements to take the girl to her family. It is a group of 4 people counting the little one and they rented a chariot with 2 horses.

-Before you leave, take your swords, you don't know if you will need them -said the captain as she handed over the swords -Don't hesitate to use it-she told Björn after handing him an ax.

Björn and a merchant were inside the carriage accompanying the girl, while another merchant was driving outside.

The merchant who is driving gives the signal to the horses to start galloping. The carrots set off for the home of the little girl.
