Walking down the trail, I saw some clansmen picking up some plants, I waved at them and they waved back, the usual. Then I see one of the few friends I made, his name was Pairo. Unlike the rest of the clansmen, his eyes do not function properly due to some freak accident in the past year or so, and he can be seen talking to one of his other friends with shoulder length blonde hair. She looked to be in her teens and can be mistaken as both as a pretty boy or a girl. Never talked to her before though, so I am just guessing her gender, but she seems like a nice fellow. I waved at them and they waved back.
I jogged towards one of the clothed huts at the center of the village. Inside were few pieces of wooden furniture, with some pictures framed on the wall. Sitting behind a wooden desk, on top of a cushion was the elder of this village – Issei Kurta.
"What can I do for you, Taiyo? What brings you here?" The elder was stroking his short wispy beard, trying to look wise and profound. To the mind of children, it might work, but to me? Not really, it kind of made me cringe inside.
"Father told me to socialize more, which is why I'm here." I'd land my butt on the floor.
"oh. Why me? Why not of the any other residents?" The elder asked curiously.
"no reason." I'd shrug.
"oh." The elder would continue to stroke his wispy, little beard.
"What do you normally do elder?" I'd inquire.
"Protecting our clan from outside interferences, of course," he'd chuckle.
"Ah. I see." I'd look around of the interior of the house, until I saw something that was different when I last met the old man, a singular book in the bookshelf.
"Interested? I hope not. That book was from the outside and is implanting some horrid ideas in some of the younglings of our clan. I confiscated the book for now, but I will probably give them it back later." Elder Kurta shook his head in dismay and stoop up to grab some tea to drink.
I, for one, was curious. I never felt intrigued with this so-called outside world, as I didn't really care, but it does sound interesting to see what is in the book. In my past life, I was quite the book worm, the average nerd or geek, of course not to the extreme. I knew my limits.
Standing up I went and grabbed the book to see it titled, "D hunter".
"D hunter", I muttered, "hmmm…" I stroked my invisible beard, "sounds oddly familiar…?" I continued to look at the book and read some of the content. A pretty basic adventure story. I put the book back. "Huh…D hunter…sounds like a show I watched when I was younger, but what was it?" I continued to keep on stroking my invisible beard.
The elder could be seen walking in the room with two cups of tea. "Hey Taiyo, mind listening the rambles of an old man?"
I'd nod, I mean I had nothing else to do.
He'd sigh and offer me a cup of tea, which I gracefully accepted.
"You see, the kid who found this book, he wants to go outside and explore."
"U-huh."
"And I made a promise that if he completed the trial he may go and travel around the world. "
"U-huh." My brain currently entered into offline mode.
Whenever, the elder spoke I just kept on nodding whilst daydreaming. I don't believe he said anything important anyway.
The conversation lasted for quite a while but when he said, "thanks for listening of the ramblings of this old man", my brain went online and I just said, "no problem."
"I just wish there were more young people like you Taiyo, people that are more understanding about the current situation of the clan." The elder said while sipping his tea.
"Yeah…Thanks for the compliment elder." I then gulped down the tea, "Well see you later, elder."
"See you soon." He waved me off and I left the clothed hut.
"Now, who to speak to?" I muttered. Well, I guess I will keep doing a favourite past time of mine – to annoy the adults of the clan where babies come from.
