Chapter 9

Cathy's POV:

I finally walked into school after spending 2 whole days in bed, I looked around for Keira or maybe even Ashton but I didn't see anyone. Since I had an extra psychology class today I think I should see him there. I sat down for the first class, science. The worst class at 7AM, who thinks of these?

The last 3 periods went by quickly and then was Psychology before lunch. I went to my usual seat in the class and saw Ashton waiting.

"Hey, didn't see you all day" I said as I put my books down on the school table

"That's because I didn't come in till third period"

"Detention?" I curiously asked

"No I'm slick, you just need to walk in between classes" he chuckled

"Teach me you ways"

"Where's Calum?"

"He's at home sick" the hazel eyed boy replied

"Ohh"

"Did you hand in the last assignment?" He asked me, I tried to remember if I did and the it hit me, I left it on my table at home, fuck

"Did you submit it?" Ashton asked again cause it seemed like my mind had gone blank, I shifted my eyes from the books on my table to his eyes

"It's at home...." I said breaking my scilence

"Fuck today was the last day to put it in!" He said as shocked as I was

"I know! I think mom has a day off today I could ask her to bring it here" I said hopefully

"Ok call her, Miss Smith seems to be running late" I quickly picked up my phone and dialed moms number

"Hey mom can you please get me the bunch of papers on my desk in the room it's important!"

"Where is it?" She asked

"In my room on my desk" I said, then I felt my heart drop as the expected-unexpected Miss Smith walked in

"Cathy Jones you know you're not allowed phones in class give that to me!" She said as she walked toward Ashton and I's desk

"Miss I am so sorry I actually needed to call my mum cause-"

"I don't want to hear it, your mom can come and get your phone back by the end of the day" she said as she hung up and took my phone away, fuck.

"I also wanted to address you and Ashton about the assignment, today was the last day to submit it, where's yours?" She asked Ashton and I

"We don't have it but if you just let me call my mum and let her get it and get my phone back" I asked desperately

"Ok the two of you can go to the office, make the phone call and be back in class in 15 minutes with the assignment and you mom" she sighed as Ashton and I walked out of the class and toward the principals office

"I'm sorry, I didn't think she'd walk in right when I was on the phone" I said to Ashton

"It's not a big deal plus this way we get to roam the halls" he smiled

"I thought you'd be more mad"

"Not really you just bought us 15 minutes out of class I'm good"

"Ok when we walk in there we make the call, get out, wait for my mum, get the assignment and then get my phone back" I said as we stood in front of the office, when we walked in it didn't seem like there was anyone in there so we walked in and used the land-line phone to make the call

"Hello? Mom?" I said as I put the phone to my ear

"Hey Cathy, I'm on my way with the assignment, was about to leave" she said

"Oh gosh thank you! You also need to speak to the teacher into giving me my phone back" I told her

"Alright don't worry I'll be there in 5" she said as she hung up

"We need to go downstairs and wait for her now" I said to Ashton as we walked downstairs

As the both of us waited on the school gates I saw mums car drive.

"Finally, thank you!" I said as she handed me the papers in a file

"So who do I need to talk into giving you you're phone back?" She asked me

"Miss Smith, I'll take you to her" I said as she walked into the premises

"Oh my god she still teaches?!"

"Well yeah" I said as we walked

"You must be Ashton?" My mom asked Ashton who was beside me

"Yeah" he said as he smiled at mum to be polite

I stood outside the class as I called Miss Smith to speak to mum

"You two can get back to class, I'd like to speak to your mom in private" she said as Ashton and I got back to our seats

After about 10 minutes Miss Smith walked back into class and handed me my phone

"Don't use it in class again" she said and smiled, that was weird. I looked at Ashton with a shocked expression on my face.

After the longest 45 minutes of my life the bell finally rung, it was finally lunch time.

"Are we sitting alone today?" I asked Ashton as we sat on one of the tables alone

"Looks like Michael and Luke aren't coming so yeah I guess" he said as he took a bite of the sandwiches we were served today

"Do you wanna maybe go out today?" Ashton asked out of the blue as my stomach just did a backflip

"Sure what do you want to do?"

"Dinner and maybe a long drive? I know it's not creative but could be fun"

"Alright, where do we meet?"

"I'll pick you up at 7"

"I'm down" I said as I smiled

Finally the day at school was over, I drove home thinking about what might happen with Ashton and I as I let my skin feel the air through my open window
