Lucy's POV
Deric steps into the living room. His fresh clothes fitting him perfectly. And compliment's his large muscles.
The way we left things didn't feel right. I haven't trusted anyone as much as I trusted him. But when he touched me out of no where, all I could feel was fear. After I flinched away the pain in his face made me feel guilty. Seeing his pain made me want to cry because I hurt him. He was frozen in the doorway, hesitant, scared. I was sitting on the edge of the couch, my hands on my knees and staring into his piercing ice blue eyes. I wanted to make everything right between us. "I'm sorry, Deric. I wasn't angry with you and I didn't want to flinch away but you caught me off guard." The words rushed out of me. Making my guilt grow even more when his eyes filled with regret.
"I didn't want to make you angry, Lucy. And I left you alone because I thought you needed some space." He tried to reassure me but I still felt guilty. When we were in the kitchen he looked scared of ME. And that didn't sit well with me or my wolf. He was still standing in the doorway, which in my eyes, he didn't really trust me to be close to me. Before realizing it, tears started building up in my eyes and when I blinked one single tear rolled down my cheek. When I blinked again more tears escaped and in a flash Deric was by my side. Sparks erupt on my cheek and I blinked through the tears , realizing he was brushing them away with his fingertips. Softly and very gently like I was made of porcelain. "Shh. Why are you crying? I just wanted to give you time to calm down, Lucy. Don't cry I'm not upset, if that's what you think." He unthinkingly put his arm around me and pull me into his side, comforting me. I didn't pull away, the warmth of his touch spreading over my body. Comforting me more, the sparks a pleasant reminder that he wouldn't hurt me. At least not on purpose.
"You need to rest. You might be healed but the trauma you went through was horrible." Deric whispered in my ear. I nodded my head weakly, suddenly drained of my energy. He was right, I do need rest. I snuggle into his chest and bury my face into his shoulder. His warmth was incredible. Well after 10 years of cold, the heat is something to get used to. Luce says in my head. I silently agree with her and before I knew it, darkness consumed me. And yet again, being in Deric's arms kept the nightmares away. Which suited me just fine.

Deric's POV
Lucy is asleep in my arms and her steady breathing is very calming. Eric was admiring his beautiful mate and so was I. This girl might someday be the death of me but I don't care. This girl is so precious that I'll start war with anyone who tries to hurt her. She's a powerful she-wolf but she needs protection, care and she needs to feel loved. And I want to be the one to give all of that to her.
I gather her into my arms and carry her upstairs and into the spare bedroom. I tuck her in and walk back to the living room, closing the door behind me. I walk into the living room and sit down on the couch, picking up the TV remote and turned it on. My intentions were to watch a movie but my mind was on Lucy. She was right above my head, just upstairs but she felt miles away. I turn the TV off and stand up, walking to the stairs. The moment I plant my foot on the first step, there was a knock on the door. I inhaled through my nose and the familiar scents filled my nostrils. I turn around and walk to the door, opening it. A small smile on my face.
"Hi mom, hi dad." I greeted my parents. My mother immediately throws her arms around me and hugs me tightly. After a few seconds she let me go then my father had his turn and pulled me into a hug. Slapping my back lightly. "Deric, where is she? I want to meet her right now." My mother ordered and rushed past me, commenting on the pleasant smell in the house that belonged to Lucy. But her voice was to loud for my liking. "Mom! Keep it down! She's asleep upstairs." I demand of her and thanks to being Alpha, my voice was full of authority. She immediately went from loud to a whisper. "Oh! Sorry. Son, what is that pleasant thunderstorm smell? Some kind of air freshener?" She asks me in curiosity. I smile happily and answer her. "It's Lucy. She's the smell, mom." My mom smiles knowingly at me. She walks over to me and grabs my hand pulling me to the living room. My dad closes the door and follows us. We sit down and my mom and dad have the same knowing smile on their faces. I look at them in question, my smile wavering. "What?" I ask them, unable to keep my curiosity and worry at bay. My father speaks for the first time since they arrived. "The girl, Lucy, already makes you happy." He didn't ask, he stated. I willingly nod and stare at my hands. "Yes she does." I answer slowly and happily. My mother's smile widened, if that was even possible. She pulls me into a tight hug and after at least a minute she pulled back and cupped my cheek. "I'm happy for you, son. How old is she?" She asks me in curiosity, still holding my cheek.
"She's 21 mom. And I can't tell you anything else about her because I don't know anything else about her." I tell her before she could ask. Her smile fades from her lips and asks, "What do you mean?" I look her in the eyes and glance at my father, talking to both of my parents. "She's distant and her past is painful. I can see that. She was hurt and she's only now recovering." I tell them and they both nod in understanding. My mother looked worried and very concerned, just like a mother. They agree to stay in contact with me and they want me to update them if Lucy's condition changes. They left and went back to their house. I went to the kitchen and pulled out a bottle of water. I sat down at the table and looked out the window. I could see my pack members walking outside. Living their own lives. I probably sat there, staring out of the window for an hour. But when I hear soft footsteps I turn away from the window and stare into the most beautiful eyes in the world.

Lucy's POV
I woke up because of the voices coming from downstairs. I could clearly hear Deric's voice but there were two voices I didn't know. One female, one male. Their scents were almost like Deric's but nowhere near the intoxicating aroma that belongs to him. They must be his parents. I could hear that Deric was happy talking to them, so I didn't want to intrude. I turn around and ly on my back, staring at the ceiling. When I hear the front door close I throw the covers off me and walk to the door. Stopping with my hand on the door knob. I turn around and look at the room I was in.
It was beautiful and the colors worked perfectly together. I turn back to the door and open it. Walking down the stairs and into the kitchen. When I step into the kitchen those beautiful eyes were looking straight at me. Mesmerized by their beauty I gasped loudly. Warmth spreading over my body. The feeling of safety seeping through my nerves.
He was leaning against the kitchen counter but I guess he heard me cause he wasn't staring at me in shock. I pull myself together and walk over to the him, I take his hand and pull him to the living room and to the couch. I sit down and so does he. There was a lot of space between us and apparently he didn't like it 'cause he moved closer to me. But thankfully not to close. The sparks I feel when he touches me are weird. I look at the TV and stare at it while Iron man puts on his suit in the movie. "Are you okay?" Deric asks me after a few minutes of silence. I turn my gaze to him and his piercing blue eyes stares back at me in concern. "Yes" I simply reply. My voice was clear and audible, not a whisper. And I was sure of my answer for the first time in 11 years.
"Who were you talking to just before I came down?" I asked in confidence that I didn't know where it came from. I was never confident when I was with the rogues. Deric's eyes look intently into my face. Unsure if he should answer me. Then he finally said, "They were my parents. They know that I found my mate and as expected, they wanted to meet you immediately. Bu-" I interrupted him. "But you told them no." He looked at me confused and shocked.
"How did you know?" He asked me curiously and I answered him honestly. "I heard the last part of your conversation." His confusion and shock disappeared and nodded in acknowledgement. He drapes his arm over the back of the couch and focuses on the TV but I could see his curiosity in his eyes. "Deric, do you want to ask me something?" He turned his face to me. "Tell me more about the legend of the Phera." He asks me, curiosity glinting in his eyes. I look at him, a little uncertain. "Please?" He begs, pouting his lip slightly. We can't resist that face. Luce chimes in my head. And I had to agree with her, 'cause not even I can resist that face. "Okay, fine. I'll have to start with the existence of werewolves before I get to the Phera part." His face breaks into a million dollar smile and he nods, agreeing to listen.
